That food sure looked good, Red!! I'm probably going to make this on a camp next weekend. Haven't been able to make it out recently due to tons of floodong rain, but next weekend is looking GREAT! Daughter and I did manage to get out last night for a hike and overnight meteor shower watching, then hiked back out this morning to come home before more rain started😂 we made shredded pork tacos and spanish rice on the vintage MSR stove and pan set ❤ i posted it on Insta
Love it as always. Those deep pans are first rate. Thanks to you I had one State side for two months. Here’s a tip from years of attending winter motorcycle rallies where one consumed much beer. Buy a plastic bottle of orange juice, one with a wide mouth and good screw cap. Once empty you keep it with you and with very little practice you will never have to get out of your bag again. Empty and rinse sterile liquid in the morning, dry and you’re ready for the next trip. You can of course use a Nalgene but people can be funny and multi-using your water bottle.
Well, I still keep telling myself the lie, "tonight I'm sure I won't need to wake up and use the bathroom'. Not sure that it works out that well. Perhaps it's time to learn from experience and quit being a stubborn fart. Take good care my friend!
This slightly higher sauce pan is a great addition to the Trangia 25, isn’t it? Your cooking today absolutely meets my taste. I‘d recommend to add two or three spoons of red lentils, which give more texture to this sauce. Have a nice outing and a good nights sleep.
Thanks Eckart! The saucepan is great, I hope the make one for the 27 also. Lentils are good for that even if I prefer the green ones, the nutty flavour is so good even if the cooking time is significantly increased. Cheers!
Thanks Rick! A hearty meal is needed when you take lunch and dinner in one and some cold to boot. The meal I made was actually two servings and half of it became a lunchbox for wifey. Cheers!
Enjoyed your cook out and overnighter. I like how they have camp grills set up ready if one wants to use them, sadly these would just get abused in the UK.
I went out a couple weeks ago to try out my truck bed tent. The snow caved it in on me in the night. My fault, I put a tarp over half of it. Still had a good time and it kept me dry. On a separate note, I use a heat diffuser with my trangia 25 when I cook pancakes and eggs. It fits well with the stove and helps relieve the hot spots.
Must have been a rude awakening before you could assess the damage. Interesting solution with the heat diffuser. Not a common practice over here but something worth looking in to. Thanks for the tip Travis. Cheers!
Good Evening Red .. 👍👍👍 .. nice to see that the overnighter was a success 😊. 7°/-2°C isn't too bad .. as long as it's a dry cold. A 10 / 100 / 1000 / 10 000m hike to the Camping Spot .. not cheating as we are not having to walk it 😊. Sleeping Bag Liners are a good consideration. Besides adding insulation to the bag (depending on the material), they help in keeping the bag clean. Easier to wash a liner than a sleeping bag. Red, that recipe looked delicious. I am definitely going to give it a try! Breakfast .. mine would have been an Oats Porridge concoction. Boring to some, but then I just love Breakfast Oats .. great comfort food too, when eaten piping hot on chilly mornings. The 'Early Morning 'P' Parade/s' 🙄. At our age, it is what it is 😏. Fortunately, I appear to have a high metabolism .. having being told that I 'radiate heat' in bed. Good for the other half in Winter ♨️ .. less so in Summer 😓 😁. It usually does not take long for me, back in my bag / bed, to get back up to operating temperature. Thanks for the share, my Friend .. and until next time, take care .. Tommy
Thanks Tommy. Normally it would have been a lot quicker to get out and back in the sleeping bag, just unzip it 2/3 of the way and it's smooth sailing. This was the only disadvantage with the liner that you had to exit and enter from the top making it a lot more of a hustle, apart from that I can highly recomend one. Take care, see you around!
Nice! Good to see you making the spurtle! It'd be pronounced spurr tell , but your way of saying it was a million times better pronounced than anything I could say in Swedish! Food looked delicious. Good to see you out and the weather mostly kind.
Thanks Sarah, now I can pronounce it better when I try it out on some porridge. The weather wasn't to bad but now, just two weeks later it's summer and 26 degrees, crazy... Cheers!
I must confess that I had to google that one since I assumed you didn't imply that I should invent a title and get bloody revenge ;) That sanger looks delicious, now I have to try it!
Dinner looks really good. Im going to try this soon. I have a new T25 and a new trangia burner ive been to scared to try. I dont have the deep pan only the regular one so wont make much....this time. Ill have to look for that pan. Ive never had orzo..seen it but never tried it. Looking forward to it
If you cut the recipe in half it should fit in the shallow pan or you could change to one of the pots before adding the "wet" ingredients if you're cooking for two. I got my sauce pan online, haven't seen it much in stores yet. Cheers!
Wonderful video! I am enjoying your channel. I also like to cook, especially outdoors, and sometimes it even tastes good lol. I love cool weather and thrive in fall and winter. I like your stove and it looks interesting. Is it an alcohol or wood stove? Anywho, great video and looks like you had a nice campout.
Thanks Marty! It was a good and much needed hike, wish that I'd manage more of them this summer year. My stove is a Trangia 25 alcohol stove, and it has been with me for more than 40 years. If you want more details I did a video about it some time ago: ruclips.net/video/VVtb0vAZrfc/видео.html Cheers!
@@RedswedeOutdoors Thank you sir for the reply. Very cool. I don't have a Trangia but I have made a bunch of D I Y. alcohol stoves that work well too. It's fun to be creative and make different ones. That looks real nice and a good pot stand for kettle, pot, pan. Have a great day!🙂
Great video with the overnighter! I’ve done a few cold ones myself. The worst one was when the gallon of milk froze solid. Your dinner looked very delicious. How many times did you need to fill the Trangia stove? Keep up the great work!
Ouch, well at least the milk didn't go sour. The meal was made on one filling since the simmer ring was on for most of the time. See you around Andrew, cheers!
Great little adventure, thanks for sharing 😊. I've been getting very curious about Sweden for a cycle touring adventure of my own. When do you think the best time of year would be?
Thanks Robert. Depending on where in Sweden you're planning to go I would say that May through September offers good temperatures and stunning colours in nature. As for rain it's more uncertain. We can have droughts for months followed by constant rains one year and the next year it changes every other day. Any thoughts on what part of Sweden or what type of nature you're going for? Cheers!
@RedswedeOutdoors Yes I would really enjoy the challenge of riding the full length. And camping each night. The weather is not really a problem, as I stay in the Scottish Highlands. Also I would take a ferry across as I don't fancy the logistics of flying with my bike. Therefore my journey would be from South to North. Also riding on minor roads.
There's a worthy challenge, I think it's 1600 km as the cow flies from north to south. If it was me I would aim for the northern parts round midsummer to experience the midnight sun, then the roads will mostly be snow free aswell. Bring mosquito repellants!
What do I think? I think that looked yummy! Total Respect for sleeping out in the frost! 🙌 Thanks for sharing and as usual offering inspiration!
Thanks for watching! I will say that the liner made a big difference when the temperature went below the comfort zone of my sleeping bag. Cheers!
Love it: there's no bad weather just bad clothing! So true!
Absolutely, but there's weather that's more or less pleasant for sure. Thanks for stopping by, Cheers!

Yep, it's reliable even if I was stupid enough to forget the matches even when there was a prediction for frost. Cheers!
Fantastic ambience man, outstanding content!

Typiskt aprilväder. Nu helt plötsligt har ju nästan sommaren börjat. Jag tycker att våren var kort i år.🤔
