    I watch your videos when it's been a stressful day, they calm me down. Maybe a small towel would help when you're out in the snow, that you can dry yourself on every now and then. Keep up the good work ❤

      I usually bring a small one, the size of a napkin, that I use for washing up. I'd better bring one more for me. I hope your stress levels are down now Holly. Cheers!

    Thanks for taking us along for a winter trail meal. Being from Canada I love the warmer March winter days when the sun is out, the winds are calm & go out to make a trail lunch. Enjoy! Svend

    I love winter camping... Unfortunately I slept through a heavy snow last month and woke up to a collapsed tent 😅
    I'm hopeful to get some new kit and get back out there again, before spring arrives with the melt and the mud 🫠

      @RedswedeOutdoors  7 месяцев назад +1

      Ouch, as a wake up call, that one really sucks Goose. I hope you came out unscathed from the ordeal and that you don't have to suffer any mud camps. What kind of a tent are you planning? Cheers!

    Another calming video 👍👍, no snow in the north of the UK but the latest storms have made my last 2 wild camps pretty challenging , keep the great content coming and take care.

    Wintertime has it´s own beauty. A snow covered landscape makes a great day out. Taking my rucksack and making some hot chocolate with the trangiaburner makes my day. grtz Henk

    Good video - thanks! I enjoy the channel immensely. Arkansas location here - summer way hot, winter sloppy cold, mud and crazy winds. 10F on minute - 65F next. Fall and Spring most pleasant time around here. Simple, but delicious looking recipe! Thanks again

    Your weather looks just like what we had a week ago when I was out camping. Now we are back up to 55f/13c with 39f/4c overnight. I'm hoping we get another big snow this winter. Just no more -22f/-30c temp 😂 the dish looked very delicious, and seems the pan did its job just fine. I must say, your video was quite beautiful, friend

      Thank you Chad! Two days after I recorded this the rain came and the snow disappered overnight. Let's see what February might bring. The pan worked as I hoped it would and I'm quite pleased with it. I'll bring it along for more hikes, hands down. Cheers!

    Cast iron is great but not the weight, carbon steel is a good compromise but personally I like anodised aluminium, not too heavy great heat conductivity and easy maintenance.
    Nice dish, soy and Sriracha always a nice combination.

    • @RedswedeOutdoors
      @RedswedeOutdoors  7 месяцев назад +3

      It's always a trade off when deciding on what material you want for your cook gear. The best ones are also the heaviest. The lightest ones are more comfortable to carry but you always have the hot-spot to compete with. Totally fine when just boiling water, but if you fry something it's irritating. For now I agree that carbon steel is a fair compromise, maybe I find something better later on. 'Til the next time. Cheers!

    Italian spices = "Pizzakrydda"? One of my most used if it's the same! Wonderful on grilled cheese sandwiches with various extra stuff in them.
    Your beard is getting mighty. Very impressive against the snowy backdrop. 😄The pan looked to be perfectly seasoned now and you showed that the winter gas really works.
    Love your videos, looking forward to the next one.

    • @RedswedeOutdoors
      @RedswedeOutdoors  7 месяцев назад +2

      Maybe 'Pizzakrydda' is similar, I'll just mix equal parts thyme, oregano and rosemary and call it good. Works well enough in camp and at home. I can at least say that the winter gas works in -5 C, and I could turn it down surprisingly low to get the temperature I wanted.
      I can give you a teaser on the next video, 'campfire lunch without any cooking gear' ;-) See you in the next one. Cheers!

    My current "winter" here in south of Spain is 5 to 25 degrees celcius.... gahhh give me a break from the heat!
    I was in Sweden & Finland for a vacation during the end of December and it was beautiful, you're lucky to have real winters :)
    Pan performed well & made a delicious meal! It would be nice to have a leather cover for the pan's handle, that way there's no need for leather gloves to grab it

    • @RedswedeOutdoors
      @RedswedeOutdoors  7 месяцев назад +3

      5 - 25 C sounds an awful lot like a typical mediocre Swedish summer. I prefer the snowy winters instead of the constantly rainy ones, but it is what it is.
      I'm planning to carve a wooden extension for the pan handle, but that's a project for an overnighter in spring or summer. Cheers!

      Once I put a pot of coffee on what I thought was solid packed snow. A few minutes later when I reached for it, the snow wasn't as solid as I thought so it was 3 feet down below the surface... fortunately it hadn't flipped over. Steak 'n' potato meal is a camp favourite. Cheers Zach!

    Red do you ever use a SVEA 123 on your outings? That new pan of yours is a seasoned veteran now!

    • @RedswedeOutdoors
      @RedswedeOutdoors  7 месяцев назад +1

      LOL, I see what you did there. I never tried the SVEA 123, it's on the maybe list. Some part of me are dreading that it can prove to be yet another blast from the past that can't live up to the hype. It looks really cool and all but still... Cheers!

    • @CherokeeTwilight
      @CherokeeTwilight 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@RedswedeOutdoorsI have a SVEA123. I absolutely love it. It really does live up to its reputation. You don’t have to pump it for pressure, so no maintenance with a pump. They have a full range from simmer to boil. They have their own windshield. They can run about 45 mins. They roar like a little jet, I actually like the sound. But if that’s a concern you can get a quiet cap for it and it will run as quiet as a whisper lite stove. 123R has a self cleaning needle which is very useful if you don’t mind cleaning the 123 manually. And it’s made in Sweden! (If its engraved with Sweden on the tank it’s Made In Sweden) If I could only have one stove to use with virtually no maintenance except for filling with fuel that would be my go to. They just run well and are engineered very well.

      There are many good things about as you say. My biggest complaint about it is the price. Looking at a new one it costs quite a bit more than a full sized Trangia with all the bells and whistles, and from the box it's just good for boiling water and not very much at the time. Yep, it boils it superfast and it's good at high altitudes so climbers tend to praise it, but for that price tag I want more. So it remains on the maybe list, for now. All the best!
