Hmm, it's 1.30am, i need to wake up in few hours and i am watching (fantastic) Lego Wall Tips that i do not think i will use anytime soon... I regret nothing! 10:40 is so great!
Hey Bevin, I just stumbled upon a wall technique this morning that I have not seen on anyones channel that you might find interesting. I don’t know how well it works for new bricks but it looks pretty cool with older bricks. I was stacking a bunch of white 1x1 wide bricks(the smallest bricks) on ontop of a 1x20 long brick in a row with 1x2bricks after every 3 or 4, and then put another 1x20 long brick ontop of those. All of the 1x1 bricks were accidentally tilted slightly to one side and it gave a sort of vent fin effect. The white ones I’m using are very old, probably from the late 70s to the early/mid 90s. I was cleaning them with alcohol pads to see if I could get about 35years worth of grime, dirt, marker ink, aged yellowing, etc off. I might try and make a little short video explaining it but I think you shouldn’t have any trouble understanding what I’m talking about. And I don’t think the idea would look good with knew bricks since they’re not worn down or scuffed up like the older bricks. And it would only work with 1x1 bricks since you can slightly rotate them a hair to 1 side when stacked next to eachother in a row.
This is so cool! I'm a constraction fan in the main and I always loved vehicle sets, but ever since my little brother started getting into Modulars I've been really appreciating functional architecture in lego.
@@BevinsBricksWorld Sweet! Can't wait to see it! Lack of parts is always an issue, though I often find building under that restriction to be really fun... at least, if I manage to actually finish anything haha. Thanks for the response!
I just wan't to say thank you for starting off with the inexpensive beginner builds I'm only a minute into the video right now and plan on watching the rest but I'm happy to see someone who understands not everyone knows the fancy lingo or techniques I'm just getting back into the whole building block thing so videos like these are a huge help
Can't wait for someone to reference "Another brick in the wall (pt 2)" in the comments. Nobody? Guess I'll have to be the one. All in all you're just another brick in the wall...
Some great advice, but I hear you with the mounting part count on some of those techniques, equally the stability can be a real issue. Agree that plain bricks with a sprinkling of masonry bricks is usually the way to go. Loved the jumper plate version - new to me - but I can see how that would eat parts quickly 😱
For the wall at 5:30 being weak, you could alternate the position and distance of the side-studded bricks from one to two stud, at least for one of the layers, since the tiles can slide across and it doesn't matter if they're held at one or the other end!
@@BevinsBricksWorld oh! I now see what you mean. It wouldn't be possible to space and rotate them with my proposal, whereas yours adds a lot more freedom of movement to the tiles! The 3D model didn't allow for such staggering and I overlooked it. I'll test some more tomorrow, I'm having fun trying to find a sturdy way to build this, it just looks too good!
When you don't have those brick textured bricks you have to be creative. I only have a couple of them & I use them sparingly but they add SUCH a difference
Great ideas! You can also modify the first one by replacing some brick with 4 plates. Height of 1 brick equals 4 plates and you can add texture by replacing or you can put only 3 plates and have some hole/scare in the wall.
Well as an artist, one technique we sometimes to signify brick walls is to draw bricks in random areas along the wall. Sometimes with some color variations. I haven't pressed play on the video yet, but I wonder if the same technique will be displayed here.
For the modified bricks, if you want to make a whole wall, then they have the 1x4 profile bricks which can let you add more structure to the wall. The detectives office modular building uses them.
6:10 when I put my tiles side by side, I can’t tilt them like you can with yours. Edit: nvm I see that you shifted them over ever so slightly so you could put a space together n between and tilt them. I have no sound where I’m at so I can’t hear the explanation. Great video! 😎
@@BevinsBricksWorld Directly made some example LDRAW models from these walls for future reference. Doing the same with those SNOT windows as well right now.
@@BevinsBricksWorld Just too bad I don't have the 1x4x6 glass windows in LDRAW, I had to adapt it to 1x4x5, which means adding in 1 extra plate levels for each window side. But looks ok still
@@BevinsBricksWorld I've never done bricklink, but it seems like a good place to get parts. I'm thinking of just getting a huge boat hull from there just to have it so when I have space to start building my town. But I'm not sure what's a good price is on such a large part
You can of course now use Part 15533 Brick, Modified 1 x 4 with Masonry Profile... 1 X 2 - 1 X 4 - 1 X 2 ... To make the same wall. Just alternate the rows from one level to the next.
Great video, thanks a bunch. This jumper tile method is great. I'm curious, wouldn't you be able to do the same thing with 1x1 plates and 1x2 jumper tiles to get a wall that was only brick wide? Thanks!!
@@BevinsBricksWorld Yes! I realized in the middle of the night that the regular 1x1 plate won't work exactly because it doesn't have that hole, so you won't be able to center the jumper plate in it easily, it that correct? The round plate was exactly what I thought about as well. I'll have to go play with it and see! Also I was inspired by your video and stumbled on another technique that could create really cool textures (also at a high brick count) - the bottom/back of the Ship in the Bottle has it. They use the headlight bricks and plates in between at 90 degree rotations, to create a smooth look with different sizes. In that set they are all clear, but I'm looking to create a "stone wall" effect that exists in a real building I'm modeling, and I have a hunch that mixing in different colors grays (old, new, plus dark gray) and also tan in that setup would look amazing!!
I do like these methods is there any science fiction type wall ? Like I know a wall is a wall but something futuristic looking even, for builds like that type?
Can you redo with a corner - particularly the one you note as your favorite - how do you work this into a full build - the half brick gaps on the sides don’t make it look easy.
Thanks for showing us the technique great tips I do like the jumpers wall a lot they look like slates wall and dry stone walling you see in the country side here in the U.K. ❤❤👍

That last wall design reminds me of the walls that ran along the rivers when I lived in Rotterdam. It makes me want to do a Dutch architecture build.
You could do some kind of piping system with headlight bricks.
The name of the old one is just light grey.
The new is light bluish grey
don’t you mean WHITE
