Funny that Anna (Go To Him) is not a well known track, it's one of my all time favourites by the Beatles, but then the entire PPM album amazes me every time I listen to it. This entire record was done in something like 12 hours straight. Just awesome.

I know! My name is Ana I'm latina so its spelled in Spanish. That's how it's spelled in the spanish version. Out of all the bealtes fans I know only 2 knew about it. Well they brought it up before I did. Others I'd have to say what album in what year. Definitely a lovely song. Have a great day, liked your comment.

I can't think of a song that John sings that does NOT work! He makes every song he sings sound deeply personal to him, and as if the theme was something he experienced. Such is why he was so dearly loved and adored by Beatles fans. Singing about peace in his later years did not hurt his ranking with me or millions of others! Paul did not go into the peace songs as John did, as John hated war and destruction and death more than almost anything else. I"ve always ranked John just a little higher than Paul in songwriting, and peace is just one reason why. Missed John for over 41 years now, more time than he was allowed to have on Earth!

Paul is one of the nicest guys in the music business (and in the world at large). He's earned the right to a swelled head, but he's too classy to go that route. Apart from being an extremely talented musician, he's a natural diplomat. I've never heard him say a bad thing about anyone. He could gag on Anna every time he hears it ...BUT...he'd say something nice about it. He's learned that there's always a bright side to everything, and he unfailingly (well, as unfailingly as a human can be) takes the high road.

You know what's amazing? His personality flows so clear all over his music, especially his lyrics. That's why he and John were the greatest of all times.
"Well, you could say that he provided a lightness, an optimism, while I would always go for the sadness, the discords, a certain bluesy edge." John Lennon on his 1980 interview to Playboy.

The technical term is a glottal stop. This is not a natural feature of Liverpudlian speech. It occurs mainly in London and - quite separately - in Glasgow, although the London version has spread northwards and westwards in recent decades.
In Paul's case, he's probably acquired it from spending so much time in London and the South-East of England. Apart from a couple of Liverpudlian features that he presumably retains for professional reasons he's very close to having no regional accent at all now.

He was awesome, but like so many black artists in the day were just cast aside. STILL one of my favorite Beatles songs of all time! I try to strum my guitar and sing this song off and on. They (The Beatles) did such justice to this song. Love both versions, and would love to sing it with The Beatles some time, but unfortunately 2 of the 3 vocalists on this track have left us. I lost a good friend because of that song. She invited me to spend the weekend at their lake house and she had a new Beatle album with "Anna" on it and she wanted me to hear is because my name is Anna. I played it over and over again all weekend. By the time I left she said she hated that I spent all my time listening to that song.

written & recorded in 1960 by Arthur Alexander about his ex-girlfriend Anna,
& Lennon wanted to record it for 2 years
& when he finally got to record,
he was sick with the flu but still had to record it

well, they think the song is unknown hehehe, but in Cuba that was the most played song in the 60's. and also in the 70's. All the parties in Cuba used to started and ending with Anna, also the 15th birthdays parties, every girl chose this song for the opening act of their parties, in other worlds, the most famous song in Cuba from 1964-1978. Shame in other part of the world people were deaf

'Unknown song' ? Alexander's version was played on the radio almost non stop way before the British invasion when the Beatles were unknown.
I grew up in a time and place in the South where 9th Ward music ruled
      Arthur Alexander
      Ernie K Doe
Irma Thomas and the like. You could recognize the 9th Ward sound instantly, it had a distinctive sound like no other.
Anna ( Alexander's version ) was played at every sorority and frat party and parties and get togethers, especially at the beach, Panama City at The Hang Out constantly
I'm not putting the Beatles down, but Alexander's version is the go to for this particular song.

"Anna" What a great cover the Beatles did of this song. It was that very early period when their voices had not yet quite matured and there was still a touch of that adolescent nasality to them. It was sometimes a bit difficult to distinguish between John and Pauls voice because they both had that same quality. Of course, for us oriiginal Beatlemaniacs the difference eas obvious.

Arthur Alexander wrote Go to him (Anna) in
1960 and released on DOT records in 1962.
He also wrote “ The Wanderer” which was
    later a big Dion number.
Alexander wrote and was released 25 or more
songs.Alexander was literally a black Paul McCartney

You would think that these guys would know what they were talking about but alas no. The legendary Arthur Alexander (who, let's face it, Mick Jagger copied his vocal style and phrasing from) was not the guy who collaborated with Sam Cooke on all of those hit records. That was J.W. Alexander (James Woody) he was also Sam's business partner in SAR records and Kags music.
