Instead of pulling seedlings to thin them out, I take a small scissors or snips and cut off the extra ones at soil level. No pulling out too many and no disturbing the roots of the keepers! Hopefully you get some drier weather. (But not too dry :) )

You sound a bit tired out. I know myself that I get all excited for planting season, for my seedlings to get hardened off and planted and then I get worn out doing all the actual work! I love your advice on not rushing through the process and to enjoy it. I plan on taking that advice!😊

So nice to see you both. You hit the nail on the head with trying to hard to get things done. I am 64 and in good shape but..... I am starting to slow down for sure. I must get up early and get moving. I feel that if I don't get up early then the day is shot. Of course then to proceed to go gang busters and then by 3:00 I am so exhausted! So I really am trying to do what you are doing and that is it is OKAY to sit for a bit and just chill and smell the roses as they say. Your garden is going to be amazing. Yes here in B C we have had cooler weather with so much wind and the rain as always. So the next few days are going to be very warm and sunny so must enjoy. Cheers.

2021, we had so much rain that year my garden was a huge mud pile. You couldn't even walk out there, your foot would be sucked down into the mud. The plants were water logged, it was pretty much a wash. That is just the way it is sometimes I guess. :)

Oh man...I hear you on the rain. Last year it rained out most of my garden here in MA. I lost my carrots, onions, and potatoes and all my tomatoes split. I grew only 1 butternut squash and it was miniature sized. Thank God for my peppers or I'd have been beyond depressed. I had the same problem trying to feed my plants. Then I would feed them and we'd have a deluge that would wash it all away. I'm really hoping this year goes better for everyone!

I originally used zip ties for my cattle panel trellises. But I don’t move my trellises so after I saw your video with the T post clips I bought one of those tools and put the pink duct tape on it (which has been awesome for finding that thing) and changed over to the clips. It has worked well.

I’m looking for that video that you give the recipe that you use when you plant tomatoes. I remember it called for raw milk and fermenting. I can’t seem to find the video. Thanks!

East central Nebraska has had more rain in the last couple of weeks than what we had for our entire growing season the last 2 years. So I am doing the same and planting between the rain. I won’t complain because other than our blizzard with 49 degree windchill and 6’+ drifts our winters are rather mild. But trees do need more moisture.

The relentless rain has been a problem for me also here in Zone 6 Northern WV and I feared my Taters would rot but thanks to several days of HOT weather last week they have broke through the deep mulch ( about 12 inches of straw ) and are growing very nicely now . But of course our forecast shows rain everyday for about the next week or so - sooo it is wait and see for us also . Hope yours grow well for you I Love Kennebecs

I drove by my community garden. Noticed that our winter rye cover crop has seed pods on them and it needs to be terminated. But it’s also way too wet for a tractor to come through and deal with it. Maybe they’ll weed wack it. Doesn’t look like that will be ready until 1st week in June!
My rhubarb in pots is doing well. Got my Vinca flowers and a rosemary at the nursery in town.
My seeded tomatoes are doing great. Peppers are slow and need a replant. Had a couple of orioles at my grape jelly. No hummers yet.

Sorry you've had such trouble with rain. We have had the opposite...it has been a very dry spring and promises to be a hot, dry summer. I was so tickled that we had good rain yesterday and more promised for the next few days but today they changed the forecast...no more rain. Well, some was better than nothing. We have sandy soil too and a slight slope but a vastly smaller garden area. I'm trying Ruth Stout for a small row of potatoes this year, hope it works.
