Saw them open for Dio as well on the Sacred Heart tour in Worcester on Halloween. I can't believe they didn't go anywhere. The first album was awesome. ( I almost feel like the record industry execs f*cked them up with what became of the 2nd album....just not the same).
Except Craig Goldy wasn't in Rough Cutt. (Craig co-wrote this with Ronnie James Dio, Paul Shortino, Chris Hager, Matt Thorr; David Alford.) Paul Shortino, lead voice shred, Amir Derakh dual lead shred, Chris the Count Hager, dual lead shred, Matt Thorr/Thorn, bass shred, and David Alford, drum shred and background vocal shred.
Heard this band when I was in Junior High, I feel in love with it. I loved the singer's voice. the whole album was good. this is a great quality video.
Love Rough Cutt, this being one of their best tunes, which Dio helped write! Another solid thing Dio did for metal fans, by bringing RC to the masses!! I agree with others, they deserved MUCH more success but most fans of hard rock/metal know all to well how awesome RC was back in the day! I saw them in J-Ville, Fl. opening for Dio on the Sacred Heart tour, Wendy Dio managed the band, and they rocked the house that night!! Paul Shortino, was/is one of the BEST singers to come from the 80's imo!
@@JerryCherryBand I was a teenager then as well, even though I tore it up like I was 10 years older, talk about a great and memorable decade to be that age!
@@JerryCherryBand, true... This was truly a "suck ur teeth" moment for me with some of my old school friends that were only going to see Dio that night! RC's solid tightness only sold the show more for most of us but the no look double guitar toss Amir and his sidekick did in perfect unison over the stack of amps behind them, without skipping a beat, not only impressed us fans but also told everyone else, RC was for real!
Im so glad to hear so many ppl adore Pauls voice. It would melt me when id hear it. Went to so many shows in L.a. hung out with some of them often enough. And when he smiled at you .. mmmmm.
I found this tape in the back of a car I borrowed while stationed in Alaska back in the 80's. Still play it all the time. Sounds better here. Probably ought to get a CD sometime..
Spent time with Ron Garrett. Kgb metal shop and got to know Craig G. Spent the night at Craig's house he was rooming with Ronnie J D. Some of the best times and people in my life
Super Rock '85 in Japan was an overnight rock festival held on 10-11 August 1985 at Odaiba Kouen Hiroba in Tokyo, Japan. It was a sequel to Super Rock '84 in Japan. The show was headlined by Dio. Other performers included Foreigner, Sting, Mama's Boys, Rough Cutt and Earthshaker (Opening Act).
Nice performance here. Paul looked so hot! I miss Roughcutt and that era in Hollywierd. I still have a Rough Cutt satin jacket Michael their roadie gave me. Michael was one of my bestest buddies back then.
I actually prefer Amir's work here over his work with Orgy and Julien-K. The Orgy and Julien-K stuff is good (Orgy's how I heard of him), but his work with Rough Cutt fucking OWNS!!!!!!!!! Would have been nice to have seen just how far his technicianship would have gone had he stuck more with the guitar work instead of going the way of computers and electronic music. ...*le sigh*... Btw. This busts my youtube commenting cherry. I've never commented on anything here before. :-D 3AMIR!!!!!!!!!
They got shafted on the light show for sure! Most of the times opening bands are so much better than the headliners. I feel confident that was the case here too. JMO
I'm not big on the descending guitar riff in the chorus but the dude's singing is phenomenal, it reminds me of Steve Marriott! The drums are also kick ass!
It is that!!!! I do like the studio version better, of course, but this is pretty good for a rare footage clip. Thanks to whoever posted this!!! And those guitarists are ON IT! Their chops are tight!
Yep vocals a lot cleaner in the studio, but still has that rough edge, also with a lot of studio albums lead singer also sings background vocals, which can’t be done live
'YOU WERE THE LIGHT ABOVE THE NIGHT,THE QUEEN WHO WINS THE ACE!!!awesome song, album, band &THE FUCKIN' SHORTINO VOCALS,ONE of a kind in METAL.Had a rough dirty edge, with vicious shredding from twin AXES!!.that sinks in the fangs!!ROUGH CUTT WILL TAKE YOU & BREAK YOU!!!!REGARDS 4 THE UPLOAD......
I wish this album would be released by Warner Bros, on CD here in the US. I guess if you do file sharing with newsgroups or other services, you might have a copy of this kick ass album. Oddly enough, the part from 3:13 to 3:24 on the guitars is "In the Hall of the Mountain King" by Edvard Grieg.
Great band with great tunes which never achieved the level of success they deserved. The problem was too many changes in the lineup. Seemed like the band was just a bridge for guitarists to go over to bigger bands. Unfortunately, Paul was just a stepping stone for them. He deserved much better.
Huh? They only changed singers once in 1986 when Paul was asked to sing for Quiet Riot. They replaced him temporarily with Paramore McCarty from "Warrior". The band disbanded in 1988 and 3 of the 5 members went on to form "Jailhouse"
It is from the VHS Super Rock 85 or 86. I have seen it on ebay a few times for sale. I have everything on DVD (better quality than here)if you would like a copy, i can burn you one for you.
I saw em open for Dio on his Sacred Heart tour in '85, bought the album the next day, they rocked!
Saw that tour as well in Sept. '85 had to wait another 2 months for their album to drop!!!
I saw & met Paul on that tour too.

Same here! San Diego 86
Me you bro!! It was my 19th birthday and I went by myself
Best damn "RIff" from this bamd. Craig Goldy is KING
Except Craig Goldy wasn't in Rough Cutt. (Craig co-wrote this with Ronnie James Dio, Paul Shortino, Chris Hager, Matt Thorr; David Alford.) Goldie wrote the riff
Rough Cutt was WAyyyyy Underrated!
85年のスーパーロック イン ジャパンのLiveかな?懐かしい。Paul Shortinoが本当に良い声で、当時からこのバンドには勿体なく感じてました。
ONE OF THE BEST VOICES I'VE EVER HEARD
The mix is unreal. So clear. Vocals on top. Tuff stuff...
Heard this band when I was in Junior High, I feel in love with it. I loved the singer's voice.
the whole album was good.
this is a great quality video.
Junior high 8th grade art class. I did draw the cover . Must bought the cassette about 4×. Great metal band
One of my all-time favorite songs of the 80's metal songs. Cool riff.

I seen them on that tour. They were amazing. I was 15. Wow.

@@Raiderordeath Yes it was a great time. When RC took the stage I was blow away. They were tight. Not expecting that before Dio in 86?

I believe that Dio & Wendy let him live with them. I remember Paul being in a very bad place when Dio died. Sad shit!
Every single Iranian dude I've ever met can shred on guitar. The weirdest thing.
Not trying to generalize, but Amir Derakh is UNREAL.
Goldy too!
And Chris Hager
This is the best song they ever wrote!!!
This, & Black Widow! 🤘
Wow. Paul's voice is amazing.

Oh for a dollar for every time i played this cassette.
Sweet ! man I miss those years, such good music. None of this pop-corn fart music these days. Thanks so much !!
I miss those days
Fukn aye. This was the first band I saw opening for DIO in Jacksonville,Fl. Still kickin ass.
PAUL SHORTINO ROCKS!!!!
I found this tape in the back of a car I borrowed while stationed in Alaska back in the 80's. Still play it all the time. Sounds better here. Probably ought to get a CD sometime..
Always my favorite by them.
Chris, I love you man, way back since SARGE!!! Hollywood Vampires live forever!
Rockin' song. I would say my favorite song from the band.
always loved it....and THAT voice!!!
What an awesome voice!
I Had both Their albums But never saw them
My favorite song of Rough Cutt, and also first song I ever heard of them.
Spent time with Ron Garrett. Kgb metal shop and got to know Craig G. Spent the night at Craig's house he was rooming with Ronnie J D. Some of the best times and people in my life
It's from a song called 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' by Grieg...(also a serious piece of badass music)
Still love that band so much! One of the best album I have. Thanks for that great posting. Fucking great finale!
The Clarences love & support Rough Cutt!
Ha, i remember playing this in high school. It was great then as now.
One of the Best Albums of those days !!! Wonderful !!! Cheers and Life On !!! Salud y Vida Pa'Lante !!!
A talented band and great song. Amir Derakh has some chops, too. The outfit he is wearing kicks ass.
THANKS for having a video with good quality...so I can atleast share one of my FAV bands! YOU RAWK!!!
I was there. Not the evening, it's the break of day :) Last act was Mama's Boys.

Jesus? Rocking at 6 am?....get the fuck out?.... was in a band with Paul briefly...early 90s...with JK Northrup.
Dude that's dusk

Awesome band they had a really good sound.
EPIC. that ending....geez.
Wow. His vocals sound better live. Great sound on this!
They got shafted on the light show for sure! Most of the times opening bands are so much better than the headliners. I feel confident that was the case here too. JMO
Amir and Chris do not get enough credit as a killer guitar duo!
This was a favorite
Класс!
Альбом 1985 года, один из лучших! )))
I'm not big on the descending guitar riff in the chorus but the dude's singing is phenomenal, it reminds me of Steve Marriott! The drums are also kick ass!
Are you crazy? That riff sounds great!!!
Saw them open for Dio at the Forum in Los Angeles (1984 I believe). Outstanding.....

fucking insane riffs from chris&amir esp in the solos between them!
Good band that was a revolving door for musicians

The best song they ever did! I wish that they got back with Jake E. Lee
AWESOME fucking song!!!! SO TIGHT!!!!
I was there! 36 years ago.
I love paul always
amir so underrated
These comments were permitted back then, and I will say the following: These guys look sensual! LOL.
Killer album!
They sounded very tight and polished at this show.
This song is written by Craig Goldy-from Giuffia and Dio. Amir and Chris were in bands in San Diego when I was growing up there in the early 80's.
Craig Goldy came up with this tune.

Those two guitar players were insane
Awesome !
Excellent song! It has Dio written all over it. RIP Ronnie James Dio!
written before Dio's involvement in the band. its one of their earliest songs.

bridge for guitarists what? They had a stable lineup from 84 to 87 with no one leaving the lineup during the albums recorded in that period.
@bguy75 Yes....long after Goldy. Goldy didn't appear on their albums, he was with them when they were a club act on the Strip.
Reminds me of the Troubadour Days with Craig Goldy
Ah os anos 80... \m/
The video looks great too. The Japanese had high definition down early on lol!
It is from the VHS Super Rock 85 or 86. I have seen it on ebay a few times for sale. I have everything on DVD (better quality than here)if you would like a copy, i can burn you one for you.

Everyone is so young, I can't recognize --- Is one of these guitarists Craig Goldy, or had he already joined Dio at this point?
