So great you uploaded this video today. Was wondering about the different tactics to hit a ball on a hill. Keep up the great work!!
Just found your channel a little over a week ago you have definitely helped my game and taught me a lot of little nuisances about how to approach different situations. Please keep the videos coming it’s really awesome content!
Outstanding instruction. I often chunk those uphillers and most of this is new to me - I'll absolutely be making these adjustments. Truly enjoy your teaching style.....thanks for sharing!
Definitely the best couching I have seen on this important topic - huge Thank You!! I will be working on these tips right away
Awesome, thanks. Now we need a video of tilted lies, opposite of this. And what to do out of the rough would also be great
As always...simple and clear instruction. Your how to on opening the club face is very helpful. I applied it at the practice range and enjoyed my PM grind on my 60 degree Mack Daddy wedge.
Great lesson Matt trying all your tips to improve my short game! Many thanks!
Matt really gives some really good tips. There were times when I came close to get a high score on a hole and it saved the day.
Thank you for this video...I will give it a try!
What about feet above ball or below ball? Would love to see your advice.
Mr. Short Game, I can’t thank you enough for that tip on hitting uphill lies. I have been struggling with this for so long. The biggest change was opening the club face and aiming straight at the target. So far on two consecutive rounds on our steepest fairway I was able to hit the green and the strike felt so solid. Instead of yanking it right it went dead straight. Thanks so much for this tip.
Love your videos! Helped my game alot. Thanks
Listened to this video over and over. Great teaching Matt.
I needed this - thank you!
I appreciate your style and humor! I should probably laugh more at some of my shots.
Love your video's. You've helped my game a lot. Great instruction and easy to listen to.
Just excellent communication. Thank you. Memorable!
You are really an excellent teacher. You have done wonders for my golf game. Watching you in this video reminds me that I don't have to kill the ball every time I swing the club. You make it look so easy! Thanks!
Great tip MSG.....i was wondering if you could maybe do a video on 3W and/or 5W uphill,side-hill, downhill shots.
Excellent! Looking forward to working on this. Thanks
Well explained and helpful. Many thanks.
Very good tips on key areas of the game. Helped me reduce my handicap for the first time in two years. Thank you.👍⛳️
Great tips, gonna try them today.
Thanks, that was really helpful.
Very helpful. Thank you.
Great video. Thank You.
Just awesome advice! Great teachers speak in common terms. There are some guys out there who are far too technical.
I wish I saw this before I played on Sunday. Would have helped out a ton. Great video.
Thanks, tips for my hardest shots
Great tips Matt
Very nice and usefull instruction, thanks
Great breakdown of the shots
Great lesson.
Nice video. These tips are helpful especially here in western PA where you rarely have a level lie. The shot that gives me fits- a downhill lie to a elevated green.
That shot only gives you fits because it's impossible.
I really enjoy your videos I always struggled with bunkers till I saw your video I’m out first time now !.
Awesome tips! Love the simple tip to open the face and adjust shoulders to match slope. Curious on additional adjustments on side hill lies with ball below or above feet?
Nice way of adjusting for loft, I’ll try opening the face and play with direction.
Thanks for the tips. Uphills always seem easier as a picker/sweeper of the ball. Downhills can be tricky if I don’t get the proper shoulder tilt as then I have a tendency to thin it. Can you do one for sidehill shots?
Great help
Good teacher🎉
the narrower stance and how much back swing to take are new to me... will try it out.
i needed to learn this
Thanks man.
Great lesson
you have no idea how much youve helved my game... just watching your videos for 2 weeks ive cut 10 strokes off my game
Yes finally my questions have been answered
Great video. What adjustments do you make when you are using a hybrid and you cannot open the face. Thanks
Very useful video on a very difficult shots for amature like me. But I tend to disagree with positioning of ball as in video. Ball should be positioned forward in uphill slope and back in downward slope. That is how your natural lowest point of your swing would be else you will have to make adjustment to your swing thru extra effort. Please clarify.
Great video, thanks for sharing! Could you also share how to deal with side-hill lies? I am struggling with not hooking the ball when it’s sitting above my feet. When opening the club face I often push it too far to the right.
Keep it up!
Side hill above your feet is a hook lie. Don't open the clubface, aim right, let the ball drift towards the target. Takes practice, keep playing those hilly courses.
nice videos thanks..what about hitting woods (I used 3,5,7,7+,9,11,13, 15 woods) in these up, down, side cases, probably not open the club faces for woods, right?
Awesome video with great tips. Is there one about hitting the ball above/below feet ?
For the uphill shots, would all the tips hold true when hitting hybrids or 3-4 irons? Home course has a brutal par 5 on a steep hill the entire hole....its a beast.
Great video!
This guy is brilliant.
Love your video
You are so inspirational you brought my scores from 110+ to The high 80’s in 8 months
Yay im happy for you🔥
Bruh that’s some insane improvement, keep up the great work
Watching videos has taken 30 shots off your game in 8 months... very sorry but hard to believe....
@@dantrav1927 not really
Nice video. Good content. Now add in the up/down hill shot from a side slope above your feet and below your feet!👍🏌⛳🇺🇸😀
Awesome! Can you do one for ball above and below feet?
Dude... Excellent and simple tips. I had to chance to use and kick some ass on the course today with these tips...lmao I've also have gone back went back to the archives to see how other golf youtubers explain these lies and all I can say is "what the hell are they talking about!!!!!!!"... smh No wonder Ive always had trouble with these lies prior to your video.... thanks bro..
Niiceee.. very useful for me, best regards from me in Indonesia
I’ve always played from front foot on incline. It’s my favourite shot lol.
Tried this today on a steep uphill line roughly 134 to the pin. Took a left weighted stance, shoulders parallel to the slope, opened the face a touch on my 7 iron, adjusted aim to left side of the green and WOW, I hit it to six feet. Great tip. Thanks Matt.
Shouldn’t the weight should be on the front foot on a up hill lie so that you do not sway back and hit it fat
By keeping the weight on the front foot you can keep the center steady and compress the ball And get to the target effortlessly
Nice instruction. Do you have on for side hills lies?
This is a great video I hope I remember to use these techniques while I’m playing!
Never ever considered to have my weight on my back foot ever! Great tip for uphill shots
I struggle with down Hill lies mostly hit them fat thanks for the tip.
I love your channel
What about a video on side hill and above feet lies. I always get confused on the ball flight of each.
@Wesson Smith Thanks for the insight and tips. I just need to ingrain that in my head. Everytime I am in that situation I have a brain ****.
Just imaging what would happen if you would hit it from a wall in front of you and your feet glued to that wall too. It would go way left. Thats how i remember always 😉
especially when the ball is below your feet. Why do we always putt that shot when it should go naturally to the right
Ball will always want to go away from where your weight is in relation to the earth. That's what helps me remember. If your weight is closer to the slope it will go away from slope and vice versa.make sense?
Steve Cohen easiest to remember,tks
When the club head meets the ball is the face back to square or still open?
I often shank the ball when working with severe downhill chip shots around the green. Any advices of solution would be much appreciated..
Nice vid
Good video
Good information but 90 yard 9 irons one thing; what about hybrids and woods when you are 180 plus yards out?
Fine. You have earned my subscription. What do you have on early extension, buddy?
Good golfer.like...

Any tips or techniques on how to manipulate the face club on down swings for balls below our feet for bunker shots? My heel always seems to catch causing it to hit fat. Thanks!
Aimee cho says when you put your weight on your back foot on uphill lies you tend to fall backwards as you lose your balance. What are your thoughts on that. Also how do you hit a ball off the green on a steep uphill...about 45 degrees
dumb question when you open the face on all your shots the face is still pointed at the target right your body is whats really open ? I tried to open face to the target at the range and the ball took off way right . more info on this would be great bro . Thanks
I have the same hole with a steep hill before the green where I hit the ground every time. Never thought of opening the face. I’ll try that next time.
Matt; Great vid! A friend of mine once told me about hitting these shots and that was, “Commit to the shot”. Goodier stuff!
What about club selection? for an uphill lie, would you use a more lofted club to compensate? I haven't seen any videos online discuss club selection based on the lie.
What would you do on tee boxes that are not level?
When you close the face, do you adjust the grip or rotate your wrists?
I do ok I with the lower slope, but have trouble with the steeper slopes. Especially when I have the target diagonal across the slope. Any hints for that.
Can you do a similar video with ball above and below your feet?
Great advice. Thanks. I miss the chickens.
Do you use the same rules for a fairway wood or hybrid, there's a par 5 at my home course where the 2nd shot is an uphill lie unless you can fly the ball 330+ uphill 60 ft off the tee.
This works great if your slightly down/up hill, on short grass and hitting into the slope but what if your in rough, seriously up/down hill and your hitting in a directly that is perpendicular too the slope?
How about when the slope is at right angles to your intended target?
I just watched another video on the uphill lie and they said weight on front foot? I’m gonna mess around with both and see what’s comfortable! Good video tho!
Driving ranges should have tilted mats so you could practice these shots.
The one I practice at does, but it's unintentional, hahahaha.
I have two hexagonal bathroom tiles that can be put under the range mat near the ball or under my feet to simulate side hill lies. Cardboard or other materials under the mat would work too.
good stuff .. I'll try it out... like the opening of the club face...
Matt, can you do a video on side hill lies
What causes open club face vs closed face in setup?
What if I’m on a severe downhill slope and there are low hanging trees in front of me with no lateral option? Had that secario today and was lost, unable to make a good shot. In other words how would you go about hitting a punch shot on a downhill lie?
aloo la verdad increible video me encanto necesito el proximo grabación los dejo les mando kisses agradecido
I live Oregon in need a guide to hitting on bigger slopes that’s not what I’d consider a slope. Lol
Are you advocating taking 2 extra clubs and hitting it fat?
what about ball above and below your feet?
I need to remember use less loft for uphill lies, they do fly higher and shorter. Downhill I use more loft to get it to fly higher.
Would a left handed aim right of target?
