When I was a kid, this was my favorite song from the old DK TV show. The animation wasn’t all that great even for the time, but songs like Pirate’s Scorn were one of the reasons the show was something of a success. Was a crazy hit in France from what I heard. But if they ever brought it back in this style, it being a hit wouldn’t be in question.

The attention to detail in this short is absolutely phenomenal. The animation is bouncy, snappy, absolutely vibrant. This is a true labor of love, no one could ask any more of you
Everything about this is amazing: The animation, the sound the effects, the proper use of the song. I think the best thing about it is that this could easily be canon to the show, since Skurvy showed himself to be the most competent villain on the show at times.
you've done the dk series such a big justice, from the games, to the show, to the fan works... this is gorgeous and i'm thankful we have skilled people like you out here in the world. but also, DAMN, K. Rool and DK's skulls hanging on pikes were wonderfully dark but fun details to flat out show in the end.

This is amazing! The direction, the animation, the audio-visual syncing...all top notch. Your team is genius! A rousing pirate takeover. Amazing how something memorable (like this strange but much-loved show) can make such an awesome piece, far in the future.
I've never seen such good animation! You can't see the frames, just a colorful, moving masterpiece with such intense music that helps set a great scene!
This is AMAZING!! I'm so glad that the 3D work Canadian networks produced back in the day is starting to get more recognition through fan pieces like this. NGL, Captain Scurvy was probably one of the best villains in the Donkey Kong Country series. He didn't appear much, but he was definitely memorable. This totally captured that in the best way possible. Also, 0:41 is such a funny piece of humour! I had to rewind to read what it said because I almost missed it.
Man this is the kind of animation that the ACTUAL SHOW would have benefitted from. All the small animations are so full of life and charm. It is incredible!!
That way he mimics the portrait of his Great-great-great-grandpappy at 1:15 and throughout is a very nice touch. A few seconds, but they state much about his character.
First off, I love the detail at 1:52 where he taps the cane three times to open up the coconut's hiding place. You didn't have to put it in but it's a really nice bit of continuity with the cartoon. Second, I would watch the episode with this song multiple times on VHS before I was able to start watching more of the series on a different time slot. It's an understatement to call this song nostalgic for me. Great work! :D
Ahhhh, Alex! That was amazing! Incredible work! Thanks so much for having me on to do the credits music and letting me have a small part in helping with this!
This is such an amazing video that I think it took months or even years to make. From the fluid animation to the absolutely incredible cover of “Pirate’s Scorn” by Alestorm playing throughout the video, this is a visual and auditory treat for Donkey Kong fans old and new.
Anyone else get vibes from Treasure Planet in his animation? Because hot DAMN those frames are smooth. The fluidity reminds me of that movie so much it's eerily similar to the style. What a production my friend, bravo. And of course, you can't go wrong with Alestorm.
Couldn't put my finger on it but Silvers VA could definitely fit Skurvy. And they even have similar body types, and of course they're both pirate captains!
1) The person that predicted you would do an animated music video for "Pirate's Scorn" a few years ago must've been happy. 🤓 2) I'm so glad that I rewatched this after finishing Donkey Kong Country a few days ago. I was able to gain a stronger appreciation for what you made! 😁👏

I’m speechless. A+ in every respect, it’s so heartening that the DK fanbase has artists as dedicated as you all keeping the series fresh and exciting for fans of all stripes.
That was such a good blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment!
This was so good. Like, so so so good. This was amazing. The animation, art, cameos, not a single thing was compromised on. Oh my god.
2:19 was definitely the best part imo, seeing Donkey Kong and King K. Rool fighting over the Crystal Coconut just for it to hop right on Kaptain Skurvy's fingertips was so cinematic and mesmerizing to me. Skurvy killed it.
I love how a fan project has better animation than the original source.
I can't put into words how much i love this.
Thank you for all the effort!!!
...Well. That was a love letter to whole decades of animation, and an entire video game franchise. *Wow*.
No words beyond that.
The animation is beautiful! Really loved this style!
The fact that Skurvy’s jammin on Diddy’s guitar is such a nice touch
He also killed him and dixie
@@fireflowerfilms2010 Err, kill is a bit of a strong word in their case. They were just launched away. Klump and Krusha survived getting tossed around by those trigger barrel traps countless times in the show.
imagine how insane it would be if skurvy got introduced like this
That would go HARD
It's been a long time since I last watched the original show. Now watching it again as an adult, I realize that I don't think my child brain ever appreciated what an absolute BANGER this song actually is.
In fairness, it took Alestorm's cover to truly raise this song to the level of "absolute banger".
Growing up Skurvy's song were my favorite on my VHS
Is there a _show_ on this? :O
@@gkiss2030 There was a show called Doney Kong Country with early 90s CG. There are a few DVDs and VHS circulating around you might be able to find.
@Gábor Kiss yeah! it's called Legend of the Crystal Coconut, i think the whole show is on RUclips
This should've shown up in my recommended feed. That it even had to be linked to me is a sin.
this video is basically "scalies are underappreciated: the movie"
@@hobomike6935 Pretty much.
Daily crap, this is without a doubt one of the greatest things Donkey Kong has ever been graced with. The music is amazing, your art style just makes it looks like something out of a Disney movie, and everybody in this picture is exactly the way I expect them to, art style and otherwise. You sir, you win the gold.
Nintendo may have never cared about DK's birthday, but Sir, we as fans are so GLAD to have you aboard.
I'd argue it looks more like Don Bluth's animation style but it is GORGEOUS either way!!
@@jimmybobfred696 hell yeah!
Also somehow voice to text thought I said daily crap, and not holy crap. And if I correct the spelling, the authors like gets deleted.
This looks like a high-budget, late 2000s Disney movie, in terms of animation quality.
you are a legend!! i would love to see you do one of the "gotta get it back" number. the animation of everyone rushing around and DK swinging would look SO GOOD in your style.... i am absolutely blown away. i hope you get hired onto a huge production and have your pockets lined with gold for your immaculate animation skills. literally actually inspiring work while shooting a cannonball directly into my nostalgia receptors. i cannot wait to see more from you!
This's where we born, where we raised, where we had fun, where we scared, where we become as one and there's nothing stopped us
A phenomenal animation right there explaind everything, well done!
2:47 Oh hey, it looks like he spared his brother Klump on the right.
You know how to really sweat the details.
I think you can also see a huge kremlin with a militar look so he also might have forgiven the other
I love how Klump’s just looking at the whole place engulfed in flames like “whooh, this is a lot”
This was a fun watch!
Bluster being forced to jump off the plank. That's what you get for selling cheap quality gunpowder at upmarket price to pirates
This is a masterpiece, I can't stop watching it... The animation, the style, the song, the focus on Skurvy and the little details (like having Klump up there with Skurvy at the end ;_; baby brotherrr) I adore every bit about this, thank you so much for putting in this effort and bringing it to life
Could have done without DK and K. Rool being done dirty at the end, but otherwise 100% agreed!
We need more cartoons that look like this. You can tell they had nothing but passion put behind it.
One of the finest pieces of DK fan media in recent years.
0:58
So how was that swim of yours?
@@superkid2815 I used Enguarde to swim back
This is way too polished and high quality to be a fan project
The attention to detail in this short is absolutely phenomenal. The animation is bouncy, snappy, absolutely vibrant. This is a true labor of love, no one could ask any more of you
Everything about this is amazing: The animation, the sound the effects, the proper use of the song. I think the best thing about it is that this could easily be canon to the show, since Skurvy showed himself to be the most competent villain on the show at times.
I think my single favorite moment may be the camera movement at 0:34. This whole thing was so thoughtfully done. I love it.
you've done the dk series such a big justice, from the games, to the show, to the fan works...
this is gorgeous and i'm thankful we have skilled people like you out here in the world.
but also, DAMN, K. Rool and DK's skulls hanging on pikes were wonderfully dark but fun details to flat out show in the end.
this is like Treasure Planet quality of animation, utterly amazing to see this
Aww, I liked how Klump was next to his throne because he's his brother! Nice touch! 😁
This is hands down the best cover of "Pirate's Scorn" ever brought to life! Nicely Done!! :D
Dang this is a high quality animation. I'd watch a reboot of the show if it looked like this
As someone who rented Legend of the Crystal Coconut a bit too much when I was younger, this honestly gave me chills with how good it was. Bravo! Bravo!
Me to!
This was pure perfection. Netflix and DreamWorks should hire you for this type of animation!
Great work! :D
This is amazing beyond words.
Also, interesting touch having Klump be the sole survivor due to being Skurvy's brother.
My 100th time watching this, and I only just now realized that Bluster is the one being made to walk the plank
I've never actually watched Treasure Planet, but I do get 2D Disney vibes from this.
Maybe it's the way the characters are drawn and the lightning, but this gives me Don Bluth vibes!
YESSS I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING!
“Analysis Mr. Spock?” Kirk asked.
“It appears to be a video with very impressive animation and music, captain.” Spock answered.
Fascinating.
THIS. IS. AMAZING!!!!!
1:13 You’re good, you’re good, you’re good you’re good, aaaannnnddd stop
1) The person that predicted you would do an animated music video for "Pirate's Scorn" a few years ago must've been happy. 🤓
2) I'm so glad that I rewatched this after finishing Donkey Kong Country a few days ago. I was able to gain a stronger appreciation for what you made! 😁👏
Literal Disney Renaissance animation and godly music!
And not even 1 mil views what is wrong with this site :/
@@HandheldGamer1991 yeah :/
@@HandheldGamer1991 It's now 1M! :D
A great detail that I only just noticed was that he tapped Cranky's stick exactly three times to open the box.
This is such a joy to watch! Fantastic work!
I know right. This video will be a youtube classic for me. Adding it to my watch list right now. I watched all the episodes to the DKC cartoon so this feels like it was made for me. Also i listed to the OG version to many times to even count.
Ow this is insanely well done! I love it!
Sai ta em todo lugar aaaaa.
2:47 Like how Klump now services his brother who was always good to him.
That was always the most heartwarming moment of the Donkey Kong Series.
I want a Donkey Kong cartoon with this animation so badly now.
