      It is rare but not very rare or not impossible that the childrens born with b+ blood type which is different then their parents who have 0+,it is because of the H gene with alleles H and h, that codes for the H antigen.this H antigen is the precursor to both the A and B antigens. If the H allele is inherited everything is fine, but if the individual has the recessive hh genotype then it cannot form the H antigen so it doesn't matter if the parent has the IB allele because it will not be expressed so that the individual will be phenotypically O like if a father that is 10 10 HH (phenotypically O) with a mother that is IB IO hh (phenotypically O) can produce an offspring that is IB IO Hh (phenotypically B), despite both parents being phenotypically O. This "hh genotype is known as the Bombay phenotype" because it was discovered in Bombay in 1952 when exactly situations like this arose just google it on the net you might find more answers if this was not clear enough for you.

    • @AskAwayHealth
      @AskAwayHealth  4 года назад +3

      Hi, no this would not explain your example since we know that O groups pass on the O gene to offspring; and if O partners with A, they will have A or O offspring; if they partner with B they can have B or O; while if they partner with AB they could have A or B; not AB. Here's a link that illustrates blood group types with a blood group calculator for you: www.biology.arizona.edu/human_bio/problem_sets/blood_types/inherited.html. I was born 1975, and he was 1977. How do I figure this out. ? This is posible if your parrents were AO and BO.
      Each parent give off one of the genes.

      If you have genotype BO (which would indeed make you bloodtype B) youre kid can be Bloodtype O.
      This is cause if youre BO and the mother is OO, you each give one to the kid. There is a 50% chance your kid will be Blood type O and 50% it will be bloodtype B.
      Mother have OO and will always give of O. You can give off B or O.
      So your children can be BO or OO.
      These are genotypes. B is dominant over O, so if B gene is present, your bloodtype is B.
      If your genotype is BB however, it's impossible.
