- I decide to switch back to thrusters because they allow me to pivot my board better and do more vertical and radical turns in the pocket.

Bad waves are better than no waves!
Interesting variations i have tried all the set ups and fins so its an individual thing like where you stand , feet position . My quad is a 6' 7'' poly urethane good in small bumpy waves and bigger glassy surf and sits lower in the water and uses more of the rail . My 6'4'' expanded poly styrene which floats more on top of the wave is set up as a thruster and will go a bit tighter in turns but will bounce around on bumpy waves as you have more float. I now also have a 6' 2'' channel bottom EPS which i will set up as a quad and also try as a twin fin but looking at the set up the quad suits me @ 70 kgs. 180cm. and 68 years young .
Love the Bible verse. Keep up the great content!
Sometimes a nubber fin in the middle slot can change the feel of the quad. Makes it feel more like a thruster to me.
My new quad is really the opposite, Really good in the flow left or right or in the wash sharp turns or light turns no matter. I'm a professional surfer in the 13-15 HSA (Hawaii Surf Association) Age groups big waves and the new board has made my riding so much better and a lot more turns and ability's I've learned from just a new board. However I understand what your saying your fins have way to much rake for trying vertical turns but why should you quit quads? Quads are good in practically all scenarios one thing they lack though is the fact of looseness they are tight usually no matter the size. What I'm saying is you shouldn't give up on a type of setup if it doesn't work try smaller fins with less rake. All in all I support everything you do however I personally think smaller fins is the way to go.
Completely understood. Im not giving them up completely, just for now. Im on a budget, and don't have access to all types of fins and boards. But my best move for what I have access to is to go back to my thrusters. Thanks for the feedback. God Bless!
@@AdrianIrizarry I under stand and thrusters are better for turning i perfer them when the break is pumping any other time its quad
Yes the size of the fins will play a factor quad or thruster setups. At your weight you should probably be riding small fins. Also running plastic trailer fins can help loosen up a stiff quad setup. God bless!!! Keep sharing scripture
Yewww
Been riding the dominator 2 for an year now I hate it as an quad I ride it as an thruster med AM’s also fun with the MR’s 2+1 . But the rake fin seems to work best in this board, I might try the larges to get more drive but i only weight 150lbs too
Im thinking on getting my hands on some medium fins and see the difference fin size makes.
You're not really going to be able to push vertical in those conditions, personally if surf a twin there for more speed and flow.
Surf a thruster when the waves are good quality and Hollow.
Surf a quad when the waves are big with big walls for drawn out turns.
But hey, we are all different and at the end of the day it's best to try things out yourself and see how you feel/ perform.
You are 100% correct, the conditions weren't good at all, haha. But I'll be experimenting between fins.
Try medium Reactors, on another note. When you Cut back or do a back hand bottom turn, try to rotate your palm upwards it'll open your shoulders. You'll start to feel how much you need to rotate the palm as you progress. Always look where you want to be on the wave. Your leading arm should never cross your body during bottom turns it throws out your balance & locks your hips.
Exactly! I will do my best on applying these tips. Im currently training these tecniques on my surfskate. But when I go out and surf, I just black out and don't remember to apply them in the water. Thanks for the tips, God Bless.
@Adrian Irizarry surf skates are the best training tools. The muscle memory takes a bit longer. I used to use a bit of silver duct tape on the nose of my board with point notes I'd look at it to jog my memory.
@@Hydrnaught That's actually a pretty good tip. Thanks man. God Bless!
Been using the Reactor mediums for years now. Its the best fin!
@@ChristopherLind-rq5wf I will soon give them a shot.
Helpful hint ,. ride a better board and drop 10 liters of volume on your boards
Try AM twin + stabiliser. They are quick as you have less drag with a small centre fin and pivoty. For the waves you surf should be perfect
I'll try and give it a shot! 🤙
sandpaper is cheaper than fins.. and you can work them down gradually til they start to release 🤙
hahahah, those fins are too expensive to use sandpaper on. 😅
@@AdrianIrizarry yeah.. show's i'm gettin old school 😆
🏄♀️
Never liked the tracking aspect feel of quads.
K2.1 fin thruster or twin fin for me.
Has probably to do with fin placement.. My quads that i ride do not feel tricky at all. I ride a Rocket wide and a Neckbeard as quads. Both go really good with four fins.
@@messono yes I was addicted to them when Kelly rebranded them in 2010ish for years!
They can track, but usually, if you're right on the tail. You'll know because they will turn really well, but in saying that, they definitely don't pivot like a thruster, but they're so much faster & have easy better hold.
Like it how you are bold with the word of God!
All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” (1 Peter 1:24-25 NIV)
I’m a bigger guy over 100kg. As I get older I am liking quads more and more
You get instant speed at takeoff. I’m over 50 yr old so a quad gives me a good start to a wave!
Exactly, with quads you don't struggle to generate speed. God bless
Try a longboard. Surf looks too weak for that board.
Trying quads in those conditions... 🤣
This is sadly what I surf. 🤣
