I believe Brett was killed in the landing gear bay. You see the giant three-pronged gear retracted and hanging in the middle of the room with the condensation falling on it.
Screen writer Dan O'Bannon didn't like the set designs for the Nostromo saying, "They have rattling chains and dripping water, like it's a haunted castle or something!" In the extended version the Alien was hanging above Brett, like a grotesque chandelier, hanging on chains in the area that was raining on Brett. “It was big!” When Brett was taken up by the Alien, Parker and Lambert were too late to save him, but they saw the Alien take Brett. And yes, that’s how Lambert was killed, graphically illustrated in the graphic novel. In the novel both Parker and Lambert were ripped apart and was being stuffed into the vent, possibly for food. And yes, I believe in aliens. I am convinced that MY cat is one and has nefarious plans.
These special effects were created by the great Stan Winston (not as well known to the public as it would have deserved). He also worked in Jurassic Park, Predator or Terminator.

I prefer this one because of the derelict and space jockey. Ancient, cosmic horror, yo! Aliens is just an action movie. A good one, but just an action movie + budding family drama etc because Ripley was now glued to Sigourney Weaver. In the original script none of the characters had sexes. They only became men and women after casting was done, which is why zero time is wasted on sex, flirting, romance, jealousy, feminism or family tedium. No one who wrote Alien had any idea Ripley was even a woman, which is how every script should be written, except if you're making porn.
Good pick up about Parker noticing the Alien was "huge" although we don't see Parker see it. There were deleted/longer scenes that show Parker entering as Brett is being pulled up, so he did see it originally.
Great reaction! Did you guys notice that when Ripley finds Parker and Lambert, Lambert’s shoes are off, and appears to be naked? They never mention anything, but something went down….
The rain in space thing. Probably there's some explanation in some novelization, but it could be moisture from the air or the cargo condensing on the cold outer hull and dripping down. Not uncommon thing to happen in caves.
It's inside the ship & it's condensation from the refrigeration, freezer & AC unit condenser coils dripping down. & No doubt all condenser coils are localized in a central column so the ship could capture the water, filter it & recycle it. It's refreshing to him because it's damn cold just above freezing maybe 34 degrees, & if you're hot & sweaty it sure feels good.
This is still a stand out movie. It has been around for 45 years now. Still going strong. Sam you went on the Great Movie Ride at Disney World. I did too. Be for I saw the movie Alien. I am a die hard fan of the Alien franchise. Sigourney Weaver is my favorite actress. I love the character Ellen Ripley and jonesy the cat. Sam and Tristan. Enjoy your first time watching Alien. I believe you will like it. I'm new to channel. I'm enjoying it. Tristan! Your right about The Lord of the Rings. The man playing Ash. Also played Bilbo baggins. In The fellowship of the Rings.
They're not really sleeping though. They're knocked out or in an induced coma for an extended period. Its not like they'll notice the glass in front of their face.
The cool Alien Figure was invented by the Swiss H. R. Giger. In Gruyeres Switzerland, his exciting Museum is also with the Alien Figure. Recommended! 👍🤩👽
100% YES. On Earth, all known living things have a carbon-based structure and system. Scientists have speculated about the pros and cons of using elements other than carbon to form the molecular structures necessary for life, but no one has proposed a theory employing such atoms to form all the necessary structures. However, as Carl Sagan argued, it is very difficult to be certain whether a statement that applies to all life on Earth will turn out to apply to all life throughout the universe. Sagan used the term "carbon chauvinism" for such an assumption. He regarded silicon and germanium as conceivable alternatives to carbon (other plausible elements include but are not limited to palladium and titanium); but, on the other hand, he noted that carbon does seem more chemically versatile and is more abundant in the cosmos. Accordingly, aliens are more than possible and most likely they are humanoid creatures (like people), and after their natural evolution their goal and motivation will be survival and resources. so it all depends on us how we meet them, with treats or nuclear missiles
@@Fernando-dt8je Better choices, for sure. Romulus doesn't even make the list for me. Too many lore inconsistencies/contradictions and member-berries/retreads for me. Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3 as an add-on. I consider 3 a half-sequel. Great direction/cinematography/setting w/ David Fincher directing.
What's funny is that most of the first time viewers nowadays recognize Ian Holm in Alien as the same actor asBilbo Baggins from the Lord of the Rings while I saw Alien first and I recognized Ian Holm in LotR from having seen him first as Ash in Alien. 😅 I saw Alien when I was a young teenager in 2000 and saw LotR next year at the movie theatre with my class.
Hey, Sam and Tristan! This is one of the greatest and most influential horror films of all time! I prefer the original THEATRICAL CUT you saw because I feel it's paced better and lacks a scene which contradicts the sequel. However, the Director's Cut boasts a moment when Veronica Cartwright smacks the cr@p out of Sigourney Weaver which definitely SHOULD HAVE BEEN in the Theatrical Cut! Despite preferring the Theatrical Cut for the first movie, there is ABSOLUTELY NO QUESTION that you must watch the SPECIAL EDITION with longer runtime of the sequel, "ALIENS"!!!!!!! There are critical additional scenes that add context to the movie and it is the version director James Cameron and Sigourney Weaver themselves prefer. Director Ridley Scott kept the entire cast in the dark about the famous CHESTBURSTING scene except for John Hurt. Their reactions were absolutely genuine and mirrored the audience's response! Veronica Cartwright got sprayed by fake blood and fell over backward. They only filmed the scene twice. It remains one of the most ICONIC IN CINEMA HISTORY! The PACING is deliberately slow at the beginning to acquaint the audience with the ship's geography, to demonstrate authentic-looking space travel and maneuvers, to familiarize the audience with the crew, to establish the threat posed by the creature and to generate suspense with the mystery of the derelict craft. There's a lot of rich character humor and foreshadowing in those crew interaction scenes as well as a subtext about this future society being a corporate dystopia. "Alien" is set in the year 2122. This movie and "Star Wars" changed the future aesthetic from antiseptic cleanliness to lived-in, worn-out dinginess. The smoking is meant to convey that space travel has become commonplace enough that it is the province of workaday laymen. The Swiss artist, H.R. GIGER, who designed the xenomorph, tapped into insectoid and reptilian features that evoke primal fear. His artwork is very bizarre, erotic and has a distinctive look called Giger-esque. The final product is an iconic movie monster that is pure NIGHTMARE FUEL! The creature's life-cycle and biology is explored throughout the series. By the way, the alien's retractable inner jaw is found in nature in a deep-sea fish! THE WEYLAND-YUTANI COMPANY is an international conglomerate involved in robotics, interstellar travel and terra-forming. They have a stake in every colony world and are basically the 22nd-century version of the British East India Company of the 17th- to 19th-centuries. They are a ruthless corporation looking to exploit or weaponize the xenomorph for profit regardless of the negative consequences. The Company is the TRUE VILLAIN of all the Alien movies. In the "AvP" films, you actually meet the company founders before their merger, Mr. Weyland and Ms. Yutani. This crew is not a group of explorers, scientists or colonists. They're just SPACE TRUCKERS hauling rocks. This was a First Contact situation they were wholly unqualified for. Hence, all the bumbling and bad judgment calls. Their chief concerns were company policy and pay inequity. Ripley was the only one with the willingness to make difficult command decisions that would have saved all their lives except for Kane's had she not been undermined by Ash. Of course, Ash was privy to a secret corporate mandate. Like most Captains, Dallas had an inherently CALM DEMEANOR. By minimizing the situation, it prevents both him and the crew from panicking. You can tell he's very worried because he seeks counsel from Muthur, the Company-wide AI Operating System. He also acknowledges his culpability for the predicament by preventing Ripley from volunteering to go into the shafts and by shouldering that burden himself. He accepted this task not even knowing if fire would be effective! His last act is a rather valiant gesture and I always feel bad for him despite his initial missteps. Parker is MY FAVORITE supporting character! Yaphet Kotto played him to the hilt! He's the blue collar EVERYMAN who just cares about payday and who enjoys deliberately antagonizing his superiors but ends up sacrificing himself for a fellow employee. He's also the only one who made a move on the chestburster before being stopped by Ash! Some viewers strongly believe the alien raped Lambert! This is nonsense. The PREHENSILE TAIL probably drew her closer to itself so it could mouth-punch her with the retractable jaw. Those viewers aren't mistaken for perceiving phallic eroticism, though, as that was Scott's intent. The giant elephant-headed alien pilot of the derelict spacecraft is one of the GREAT MYSTERIES of the franchise. Was he a zoologist, a bio-warfare specialist, an exterminator, a trader in exotic organisms, a waste disposal tech or a trucker like Ripley's crew? No one knows. Sigourney Weaver became a FEMINIST ICON because of this movie. Ripley is one in a long line of strong female characters that have been showcased in sci-fi and fantasy dating back to Edgar Rice Burroughs' Dejah Thoris, the Princess of Mars, in 1912! There's not a man I know who wouldn't follow Ripley into hell. You must see the SPECIAL EDITION of "Aliens" and the ASSEMBLY CUT of "Alien 3" because those versions greatly enhance both films. If you intend to see the "ALIEN vs. PREDATOR" films, then you need to acquaint yourself with the PREDATOR franchise. The first is an action classic with Schwarzenegger. Danny Glover's underrated urban-set "Predator 2" features some memorable set pieces and adds more lore. Dark Horse comics explored the crossover concept inspiring Hollywood to make two crossover films with moderately successful to excellent results. They're fun and exciting guilty pleasures with the second one, "ALIENS vs. PREDATOR: REQUIEM", being particularly lean and mean. There is also a "PREDATORS" film produced by Robert Rodriguez that is definitely worth a look. "THE PREDATOR" (2018) REBOOT, however, should be considered extremely optional as it nearly killed the franchise! "PREY" is an excellent 18th-century-set prequel to the original film that was released on Hulu! The Alien films have a RICHER SUBTEXT while the Predator films are more ACTION FARE but they're both fun sci-fi thrillers. The greatest Truckers in Space film... I'm not going back for the ship's cat when an eight-foot acid-drooling alien is hunting me down. Remember - "In space, no one listens to Ripley". The water 25:15 is due to the ship being so big it creates its own micro climates.
The room with all the water falling is the landing gear bay. You can see it folded above Brett with the "toes" hanging down. The water is just run off from the storm on LV426.
Ok, Sam and Tristan. The water from overhead was condensation dripping from the cooling units that were probably damaged when they landed on the planet. Ridley Scott made this movie as a tribute to the sci-fi movies of his youth in the.195o's . They were paced slower to draw out tension and to use silence as a way of making the viewer feel unsettled. You might want to react to BLADE RUNNER, which was the film he made after this one. Bit definitely see ALIENS. It was directed by James Cameron. He was given the project following his success with the first TERMINATOR movie. A suggestion. You might want to invest in better headphones as the soundtracks and sound designs for movies are a big part of the experience. Breathing, footsteps, and other atmospheric sounds take on a whole new dimension when channeled through headphones. Imagine how much Sam would have jumped when she heard the face-hugger attack Kain when it burst from the egg. Again, this is just a suggestion. Remember, egg to face-hugger. Which lays an egg in the host and then dies. Egg becomes the chestburster that explodes from the body to become the fullgrown xenomorph. I was surfing through the channels and came across yours. I'm going to watch a few more videos before deciding whether or not to subscribe. Maybe even look at some of your previous movies. Keep going and enjoy the movies.
My number one top movie of all time, Aliens is my 2nd favorite. Sam you have got to play Alien isolation which is the only video game ( imo ) that is legitimately scary!
For some reason all the reactioners miss the visual of the bad landing. If you step your foot on uneven ground, like part of your foot hits a large rock and the other part of your foot flat ground, you twist your ankle and might drop to the ground due to instability. If you paid attention they showed a closeup of the one landing foot stepping down on a boulder that was sticking up crookedly. This caused a "twisted ankle" effect on the whole ship. Metal probably sheared through other metal
Kane is obsessed with making the "big score", finding that valuable resource where he gets the biggest share and he can retire a rich man. That's why he "volunteers to be in the first group to go out" he wants to be the one to find whatever valuable thing the planet may be hiding.
When the alien arrived at the dinner table unannounced ,the blood from Kane was actually offal blood ,animal blood and veronica fell on the floor as many did not know what was going to happen . When veronica dies Lambert that is they showed the clip where the tail came behind her but it was actually bretts shoes you saw not lamberts cowboy girl boots.
In the director’s cut, there’s a deleted scene where Ripley and Parker saw the alien take Brett up into the air ducts, and when they ran up and screamed his name, it wasn’t water condensate falling all over them from the dehumidifier in the air handler, it was Brett’s blood. The director’s cuts of both Alien and Aliens are definitely worth watching. The reason the alien xenomorph grows so fast is actually in its highly acidic blood. It’s blood goes beyond being a powerful acid, it’s a chemical powerhouse of energy that is far superior to mammalian cellular metabolism. The ovapod can sustain a face hugger for decades, in harsh conditions, until a host comes along. Stainless steel deck plating is resistant to a lot of acids due to chromium passivation forming a resistant oxide layer, but the blood of the xeno destroys it easily by preventing passivation and soaking into the crystalline structure destroying it at the molecular level.
What would be really great as they decided to bring it back to the screen for a showing cuz then all the people who have never seen it and the people who love it can see what it looks like on a big screen I've seen it several times on the big screen when it first came out it was amazing just like the other ones
In the Director’s Cut on her way to the shuttle Ripley comes across the cocooned Brett and Dallas. Dallas asks her to kill him, which she does by torching him and Brett.
26:34 they knew it was huge cause they saw it. When you watch the extended version, they show us Ripley and parker stepping into that room while the alien is dragging him away.
I was far too young to see this in theaters, but with the invention of the VCR I got to see it when I was 17. It's still one of the best horror films I've seen and I've seen a lot. It's probably one of my favorites bc I love SciFi also. Makes sure you see the directors cut of Aliens. It just explains things a bit better than the theatrical release. and it kicks ass.
This movie is a classic, no doubt. But if you watch Mario Bavas 1965 Planet Of The Vampires you can see the direct influence it had on Alien writer Dan O Bannon and the basic premise of the movie. The alien ship in this movie is even the same horseshoe shape, crewed by huge skeletal beings similar to the space jockey in this.
As a generation Xer, I greatly enjoy seeing these reactions in my daughter as well as in you, about movies and stories that marked my entire generation.
There are ways in nature for things to grow super quickly, involving liquid (typically blood, some biting insects can grow ten times their size in one meal) or gas filled structures. The water was probably associated with the nuclear reactor cooling system and in real life they are made to bleed off a little to release pressure. So with the alien, just add water and perhaps fuel, radiation and/or the crew's food stores as a nutrients, and you have an instant full grown alien. Just my fan theory.
Definitely watch the extended version of the next one. It fills in holes that the theatrical version has. Definitely watch the Predator and predator 2. Aliens and predators are from the same universe.
"Why are they acting like this is normal?" They're not: they're in shock. And they're supposed to be seasoned space truckers. I think maybe we've become to accustomed to horror films where a boogeyman is chasing screaming teens: these characters ARE showing fear, but they're a bit older than the average horror cast, too.
Sam, Could you just sing this one line in the opening of your next video? "An old man, turned 98. He one the lottery, and died the next day." Sam and Tristan, Be sure to react to *Aliens* next. That's the last movie in the Alien franchise. Technically there are others, but they aren't canon because I don't want them to be.
Cold drink on a warm day, glass gets wet, didn't rain did it? Huge fucking scorching engines running and keeping the ship hot, cold ass space everywhere, water condenses.
I was 7 years old when this debuted so I've never know a world without the Xenomorph's. I've always looked at this film as like a haunted house movie in space. The tie in with the Predator Universe came about due to a Dark Horse comic series. Then later in Predator 2 a scene tied them in the same universe as well. The movies in this series are kinda hit or miss depending on your tastes (including the prequels). And Ridley Scott has promised more films to come. Either directed or produced by him.
Reductive take. Alien is Lovecraft is space, and that is far more than haunted house shlock. The scene with the derelict and the space jockey are the key thing about this movie that makes it not sci fi and not haunted house, but far more.
lol yep Tristan spotted Ash 🤖 the Bilbo Baggins Easter egg . He was very young when he filmed this movie in 1979, this is what he should have looked like in The Hobbit movies. 😆
May of 1979 and this film blew my little high school mind. All of the terror and horror of Texas Chainsaw linked to the cosmic hopelessness of H.P. Lovecraft. I have a two-foot model of the space jockey from the ship that I built and painted on my shelf, next to a model of the shuttle with Ripley and the alien inside. But I am not obsessed. No no. Also, in the first Avengers movie, Harry Dean Stanton asked Mark Ruffalo "Are you an alien?"
It's even more impressive when you consider this was released in 1979 and all of the effects were practical, no CGI. This movie was ahead of its time, a masterpiece of film making. Great reaction.

The coldest line in the movie from Ash "you have my sympathies."
The Alien is chilling because he wants a ride to earth
Hitchhiking was still cool in the 70’s 😎
Good pick up about Parker noticing the Alien was "huge" although we don't see Parker see it. There were deleted/longer scenes that show Parker entering as Brett is being pulled up, so he did see it originally.
Genuine scream made me hit the like button 🤣💯✌🏾
Right?! Like, I feel bad for Sam, buuuut…
that's also kind of why us savages watch reactions to this movie 😁
Good catch on Ian Holm playing Bilbo. I always recognize him from Fifth Element, which i recommend.
Second this.
Great film and Holm is brilliant in it. As always.
"Do you think he's eating for two?"
Damn! :)
Accurate!
Great movie that really launched Sigorney's career, however ALIENS is even better and REALLY made her a star (not including her role in Ghost Busters)
Gorillas in the mist, Working Girl, Copy Cat and much more from Sigourney !!!
I love how Sam not only wears different clothes for different videos, but she is wearing a whole different style every time.
Love watching people's reactions to the greatest movie of all time
Watched it as a child of the 80s, at too young an age in too dark a basement, and it is still the archetype of the perfect horror sci-fi film!
Can you imagine the experience of watching this in a theater in 1979?
The cool Alien Figure was invented by the Swiss H. R. Giger. In Gruyeres Switzerland, his exciting Museum is also with the Alien Figure. Recommended! 👍🤩👽
Watching AvP before Alien or Predator should be illegal. With a jail sentence.
And if you watch Spaceballs before Alien, death penalty.
Sam is one of the good ones, the gals that are the high strung jumpy screamers
are the best for these movies that have the jump scares. 🥰😍🤩😘😁😉
Whats fun is alien and aliens are 2 of the best sci fi movies ever made, but they are completely different style movies
I hope this means were going to get Aliens reaction soon gang🤞
Ripley was the first female hero of an action horror movie. She was a ground breaker!
That was a great scream at the face hugger jumping out of the egg. 😊
Music by Jerry Goldsmith conducted by Lionel Newman
Alien, Aliens and Alien: Romulus would be my selection for the perfect trilogy
No. Alien, Aliens and Alien³ make the trilogy. :-)
Alien Isolation (videogame) and Romulus are good add-ons. Well, Isolation is brilliant.
@@Fernando-dt8je ok
@@MickeyStartraveller :-P I'm not fighting you hehe :-). I like Alien³, that's all. 😂
This is my favorite scifi film of all time.
Below is a VIEWING ORDER and an INTERNAL CHRONOLOGY:

The greatest Truckers in Space film... I'm not going back for the ship's cat when an eight-foot acid-drooling alien is hunting me down. Remember - "In space, no one listens to Ripley". The water 25:15 is due to the ship being so big it creates its own micro climates.
The room with all the water falling is the landing gear bay. You can see it folded above Brett with the "toes" hanging down. The water is just run off from the storm on LV426.
That scream was awesome 👍
"It was only in *his womb*..." 🤣
"Coherence", "Source Code”, “Tenet”, “Looper”, "Freaks" (2018)
That is in fact Bilbo Baggins. R.I.P. Ian Holm
It's not an impregnation nor infection. It's inFestation, if we're talking about a parasite. 😌
Metal probably sheared through other metal
jones is best character :) 🐈🐾
Kane is obsessed with making the "big score", finding that valuable resource where he gets the biggest share and he can retire a rich man. That's why he "volunteers to be in the first group to go out" he wants to be the one to find whatever valuable thing the planet may be hiding.
Can’t wait too see more Aliens reaction 🎉
I like the theatrical version for Alien, the director's cut for Aliens. Just my personal thing . . .
4:20 Hi Winston! Even a Xenomorph is better than the Big Brother, right?🙃
What would be really great as they decided to bring it back to the screen for a showing cuz then all the people who have never seen it and the people who love it can see what it looks like on a big screen I've seen it several times on the big screen when it first came out it was amazing just like the other ones
"Alien's had a long day too" is one of the best comments I've ever heard.
Are you guys going to make a patreon? would love some full watch alongs
Tristan, I see you play videogames. You should definitely play Alien Isolation.
This was Ridley's second movie.
"Crack kills." Too funny!
39:14 If you know what you're looking at the alien is right there!
Bilbo is fantastic in this film.
26:38 In a different edit, Parker and Ripley come in when the alien is pulling Bret up, so they get a quick look.
"How is it so big without nutrition?" Uh, because it's a movie. Lol
Definitely watch the extended version of the next one. It fills in holes that the theatrical version has. Definitely watch the Predator and predator 2. Aliens and predators are from the same universe.
love your guys reactions remember in order for the alien to replicate it needs an egg aka face hugger adult zenomorphs cant impregnate anyone
Sam,
Could you just sing this one line in the opening of your next video? "An old man, turned 98. He one the lottery, and died the next day."
Sam and Tristan,
Be sure to react to *Aliens* next.
I bet you'll never look at Bilbo the same after this😂
lol yep Tristan spotted Ash 🤖 the Bilbo Baggins Easter egg . He was very young when he filmed this movie in 1979, this is what he should have looked like in The Hobbit movies. 😆
Very young? He was nearly 50 at the time!
@@giggitygiggity8391 lol I meant younger. He was 111 🎂 when he filmed Lord Of The Rings.
I can't wait until you guys watch The Thing 👍
Second movie is all time great! Might stop there though.
