That lamp is a style called colonial, or colonial revival. Around the bicentennial in the 70's that style was on fire, it was in almost every home. I recall even having revolutionary soldier print on my bedroom curtains. People painted fire hydrants and telephone pole stars and stripes, red white and blue.

Tucker, that tea set, the chest looks hand painted, is it original? Ebay title - occupied japan 20 piece tea set In original hand painted wood chest. Count the pieces. Take lots of pics with close ups. It looks beautiful but I really could not see much. Best of luck to you both.
