From Season 3 Episode 11 "Collision Course": t was supposed to be another stop on an island-hopping adventure.
On September 26, 2000, the Greek ferry “Express Samina” was sailing through the Aegean Sea, heading for the island of Paros. In high season, several boats a day make the trip from Athens to Paros, but this time, something went horribly wrong.
In the dark of night, the Samina smashes into two enormous rocks just a few kilometres from the Paros harbour. Within minutes, the boat sinks beneath the waves. There weren’t enough life jackets to go around and passengers are thrown into the sea. They must cling to debris and nearby rocks until local fishing boats pull them to safety. In all, 75 passengers and 5 crew members died.
An investigation into the accident discovers that it never had to happen. Vital watertight doors were left open while mechanical problems went undetected. The last voyage of the Express Samina ended in disaster, and changed forever the Ferry industry in Greece.

There was a young man in his 20s. He was serving his mandatory military service. He SAVED LIVES that night. In a call with his father he said. "I can't leave. I Have to help them!" And he drowned. He was a true hero. His name was Vasilis Rahoutis.

mayday was a series on discovery channel they are now posting here but I've seen them have 2 other channels before but got taken down by yt cause of their own licensing, I would like to note that this ep is from 2006 or 07 considering how one of the passengers of the ferry or other person involved said even though it was 6 years ago it still comes back. there are many more videos to got for them before they run out of episodes and I think this show is still airing on tv today.

This is an inconclusive documentary , THE MOST important question is not address.
NO human error was mentioned for the cause of the collision in the first place was mentioned !!!
(What are the crew doing when driving the boat?
Why can't the crew see the rock in front even with Hazard lights ?
What did the captain or crew do to save the ship?
Only mentioned all the technical, mechanical factors.
Correct me if I am wrong.

This is another sad one, shows you beit air or aquatic. Even commercial "Captains" and crew can and do make some serious errors that cost lives. In this case not only of the passenger’s but the owner took his own life too.

Oh boy I call total BS on this one. "Captains prefer to stay 740 meters away, but a crewmember at the last minute attempts to steer the ship to the left". This is crap. Someone was NOT PAYING ATTENTION to basic navigation especially in close waters like this. This ship should never have gotten that close to those rocks no matter how many malfunctions it has... with the exception of the rudder. (12yrs usn navigation experience here).
