This made an A7RV firmware update (2.00->2.02) incredibly easy. I just put your video on my phone beside my camera and computer, and I followed your step by step. Thank you!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING VIDEO! THANK YOU so so much for your calmness, patience, articulation and professionalism!! It's rare on here these days to have this. Thank you!
Thank you for the video. On 2.02 When viewing images in playback mode there is a icon overlay that is virtually telling you if you press the playback button again while you're in that mode you can go back to shooting. Um... It's a professional camera, why does one need an distracting icon to tell them that they can go back to shooting by pressing a playback button when one can just press the shutter button. Is there any way to get rid of that distracting icon? Sometimes it covers up one of my subjects eyes. And it really kills the vibe when showing clients photos you have taken.
Hi, thanks for reaching out. Have you removed the lens cap, just my first thought. Some lenses have a mechanism that prevents the shutter button from being pressed when the lens cap is on. I personally have not had any problems with the shutter. Let me know.
Maybe something is wrong on your end. The shutter on mine perfectly fine. BTW, I meant the lens “Cap”. Have you removed it? Some lenses have a mechanism that prevents the shutter button from being pressed when the lens cap is on.
My apologies, I got confused about the question, you would have to download Sony camera driver. I have an example video for a lens I own: How to Firmware Update Sony 16-50mm Lens (SELP1650) on a PC to Version 2 ruclips.net/video/TnPWc-eM8Qc/видео.html
thanks a lot. I just wanna share that was couldn't up dated first try. message says "no Sd card or wrong updating file in the slot1". I formatting with camera body again, still not going. I did format SD card with PC and camera both. Then Repeat all steps and the update will be completed.
Hi, thanks for reaching out. There shouldn’t be for the 7RV. No problem. (There were some conditions for 7IV, if that’s what you were thinking about.) But no problem for your 7RV.
Hi. Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately no. You’d have to download an updater and then install the firmware. You may find other videos on this for your A1 or follow the Sony support page below. www.sony.com/electronics/support/e-mount-body-ilce-1-series/ilce-1/software/00260271
@@TossSong I have been updating my A1 follow Sony website guide. but I wait to long time it still black screen. How long did you spend when starting press Execute, mate?
I found out how to do it. I was under the impression when I first received the camera it didn’t have touch screen. What a bummer, then I saw your video. lol
I see. That interesting but funny. I still have an older Sony model that I sometimes press the screen when I know that it doesn’t have that feature. :)
It's telling me that the updated file version in incorrect so it doesn't allow me to upgrade my firmware and I followed your instructions step by step.
Hi, thanks for reaching out. You could try and read the instructions on their website instead, and try again. I’m assuming that it possible that you’ve missed something. Let me know how it goes.
Hi, thank you for reaching out. I personally have not experienced any of the issues they mentioned, so I probably won’t feel any improvements. They mentioned operational stability, but haven’t been able to tell the difference. I’m still testing, I’ll report here if I notice anything. But all the bullet points give me a good state of mind.

Hi, thanks for your comment. I’ll take a look at it and see what can be done. I’ll let you know it here.
Thanks for the great instructions.
Thank you for your comment and for tuning in. Glad this was helpful.
Can we format memory cart after update ?
Yes, absolutely. Or you could continue to take pictures with the one DAT file in it until you’re ready to format. Either way you can.
Very clear and concise, thank you!
Thank you. Glad this was helpful.
This was very helpful. Thank you. When I press the execute button it turns orange but nothing is happening though.
Thanks for reaching out. Did you get it to work? Press “Execute” again, and it should run the update. Let me know how it went.
After I updated the firmware to 2.02 my A7RV is acting weird? the shutter does not respond?

@@TossSong Yes, and I reset the camera and swapped lens, it's slowly responding now?

@@TossSong Might be a software glitch? It’s working fine now. Just have to set up my camera prior from resetting.
Great, glad to hear it’s working again. Seemed like a small glitch.
Man, you are great🤌🏼

Thank you for sharing. I’m glad you got it working. Yes, if formatting in camera doesn’t let you update, do it on a PC.
Can you update to 2.02 if you haven’t done all the prior updates ?

I never install Ver. 2.01, it won't be a problem, right? I went from 2.0 to 2.02
No problem for 2.0 to 2.01 for the A7RV. For the A7iv, the are some considerations.
hello! does the A1 update from 2.01->2.02 do the same thing in this video? thank you!

My recognition toggle stop working! Is this normal?
I got it. Had to go in the menus to turn it on manually. Now it works with the button. That was strange.
Thank you for your comment. Glad you found it. Firmware updates do change things up sometimes.
