- Hey everyone. Lately I decided to make a short video to have an excuse for learning shaders, cinematic lighting, matinee and etc. So I picked famous Alien Queen as my test object. I've started with original model from old game AVP as it would be too long to model it all out from scratch with high poly and lowpoly. However I completely rerigged it so I could animate it, reworked textures a bit, made a custom shader to have more crisp details and tessellated the whole model for more smooth shapes.

if they ever make Alien Isolation 2, they should def include the Queen in it.
Unfortunately the only sequel we got for Alien: Isolation was a garbage mobile game.
A Queen was technically aboard the Sevastopol station, one level below the alien nest. You hear her screaming when Amanda activates the reactor. Fortunately, Amanda never encounters the Queen. (This was confirmed by Creative Assembly)
Era Bon I thought they‘d removed the Queen‘s screaming to avoid misleading players into thinking they‘d encounter the Queen
The problem is..how tf a queen enter in sevastopol..i though it was only a drone that cames because of the facehugger
@@Bruno-jn1qo It is highly believed that the Drone from Patient Zero became the Queen who then laid all the eggs. We are still yet to get a confirmation on that from CA, but it is the only theory that makes sense.

I love the mixture of the other sounds in her roar/hiss, it gives it a more guttural, dread fearing, powerful sound. The graphics are amazing but I will admit it was more so how she sounded that caught my attention. I always wished for Scott to incorporate a more powerful sound to the noises the xenomorphs make...especially the queen. She is one big capital B you do not ever want to cross.

Alongside the Predator, Jurassic Park’s dinosaurs, and... okay, pretty much all iconic effect characters from our childhoods. But I guess the Queen is the most terrifying.

There is. It's called Alien Isolation.
PC can't do it, you have to remember this guy is running this in realtime but the Alien model is the only thing virtually in the scene. Put a whole environment in there and other characters and you have multiples times more load and it wouldn't work in realtime.

I knew by the way she turned her head slowly toward the camera that she was going to pounce. It was like she suddenly noticed the viewer, and given the nature of the aliens, there was naturally only one thing that would follow.

Ah, Six, horrifying and fantastically intelligent as ever. Ever delighted to see my favorite Queen~
And seriously, great work! Her vocals and movements are amazing; the deeper, more guttural growls and roar are more befitting of a larger creature, but it still keeps that layered, shrill, echoing reminiscence of the high pitched warrior vocals she once had and are iconic of Xenomorphs. The way her head tilts as she looks you over in the end, and observes the environment, it's telling of her signature high mental capacity and intelligence levels. Plus just really smooth for 3d CGI on a complex model.

It should also be stated that this video came out 12 years after the first AVP movie. So it's kinda difficult to compare when technology has leaped so much.

Danny Dee only problem with that is that Amanda doesn't understand anything about the xenos beyond what's she's seen on Sevastopol. she never saw a queen so she shouldn't be able to understand how the embryo immunity works.

And saliva and fluids are insanely difficult to do in realtime 3D. Idk about his overall level in unreal, but he'd probably gave to use particles to be efficient, and it would probably be very hard to make it work for saliva.
A particle effect done right would yield excellent results.

In one minute you've demonstrated better lighting skills then whoever the LD was for "Alien vs Predator: Requiem". Also the model and sounds were fantastic. Well done man!
Yeah. One minute that took months to model, where budgeting wasn't a concern, almost a decade later. You really showed them. I bet the LD is absolutely devastated that this looks better than when they did their best with a non-existant budget and very low-quality props.

As a child I looked to the xenomorphs with wonder, and my favorite game to feature xenomorphs was 'Avp: Extinction' simply because you could control your own xenomorph hive. The game wasn't the greatest and certainly needed a few alterations but as a child I didn't care.
It looks a lot like the animatronic they used for the alien films and it’s behavior is just perfect

I prefer the classic xenomorph drone. The queen isn't the perfect organism, it's just big because it needs to produce lots of eggs. It's less agile, less capable of stealth, etc. It's the perfect mass-production and co-ordination form, but when it comes to hunting it is lacking.

But.. For such an old game model, It really looks good!
I've seen it yes, and I was considering it, but believe it or not it looked worse even though it is newer model.
idk man, I think the model is good enough, It'd just need better textures
I didn't mean to say it was technically worse, it just did not look as cool as AVP, so I went with AVP version.
However, I have to admit that I like original "high heels" type like (James Cameron's version) legs more than "raptor" (AVP version). But since I showed more face in this clip I chose to go with AVP one as I like it more.
If I'd made my own version of model I would go like James Cameron did in Aliens 1986. That one looked best to me, very long teeth, overal it looked more demonic than animalistic as in later movies and games.

This is amazing. Almost looks like the movie. It looks like a toy that is moving by itself, but almost indistinguishable from the movie which was PRACTICAL EFFECTS. You are almost making a CGI model that is as good as the real thing. I dont even have words. This light years ahead of the pixley crap I am used to seeing in video games. And I nearly fell out of my chair when she attacked the screen. Dang you are good. (applause)

You could also start trying to make your own art, by trying to figure out new breeds of xenomorphs what they would look like visualized! And I do know this modeling probably takes you a long time. You might want to try creating some models based on ideas which have never been seen before!
My suggestios:
1. A Runner morphed into a Praetorian but retaining a more narrow skull reminiscent of Warriors
2. Your own art rendition of a Predalien which remains black, resembles AvP2010, and has a head that is not silly
3. A Drone or a Warrior from the facehugging impregnation of a Red Kangaroo
4. Your own art interpretation, or even reboot of the A:CM Spitter, but much more logical and classic
5. The result of a Trilobite impregnating a Super Predator
The first scream tricked my brain and it looked like a cut from the film! Bravo!
I tried to find the movie that the jumpscare at the end of a 360 alien ride was from, but it was from the unreal engine the whole time. Very convincing.

+Jonas Kalahd I'm planning to get Oculus Rift or HTC Vive soon, and I'm planning to make VR version of this as well as I'm very keen to learn about VR. It now runs fine on my GTX Titan on 4k resolution, but not sure how it will be on VR as it has a bit different requirements. I will need to optimize it better, but if all goes well it will hopefully be released to public for everyone to try who has VR set

Really this is exceptional. The sound effects and atmosphere give so much depth to the performance. Terrifying and streets ahead of what Ridley is doing with the prequels which is a very sad fact indeed. But very, very well done!
