You gave a clue when you mentioned that door panel being almost as much as you have in the car. So, I am going to guess you paid $1,000 for the car and have about $650 in other parts/materials. So my guess is $1,650
It's really nice to see someone do the actual repair work instead of just buying other parts like a boring jigsaw puzzle, Goonzsquad used to be good when they were starting off as they actually repaired stuff, it then just became a Jigsaw puzzle channel and look at how much money we've got channel.
Yeah I followed them guys for years but when they switched to being a "dang sauce" and merch channel doing giveaways, I unsubbed. Good for them for their success, but thats,.not the content I want to watch.
I love my goonzsquad, they literally were babies taking large risk out of the parents shop! Who would had ever guessed as many people would have found how likable they are! I somewhat am getting mad I didn’t win the multiable giveaways, but shit everyone can’t win, I’m just happy they’re winning and haven’t left building cars, I am excited about the land cruiser as I’m a Toyota fan
@@brandonbman5921 yeah same here, money changes people I guess, it was inevitable, they still seem like decent people but I just got bored of what they were doing.
@@soradabomb12 yeah, I was with them from the start pretty much, I'm happy to se them succeed but now they are loaded their projects dont mean anything anymore, there is no challenge really, its buy, put the new parts on, rinse and repeat, it got boring.
Yep I stopped watching them as their so wealthy buying high end cars and flogging merchandise and the only reason people watch is to try to win something. Not to mention their careless driving , one day they will kill someone or themselves .I've turned them off .
Fan of your channel! You really make things seem realistic for anyone to do regardless of skill level. Oh and the rebuild for your dad was amazing and it means that you truly appreciate him for what he’s been in your life and that shows in your work!
Awesome job. I love that you do these rebuilds in one or two videos. Keep em up I had an 03 gti manual back in the day. Super fun to drive! There are ways to do an ecu flash to get it to boost higher if you want 20-45 more hp. I like that your car is a convertible. Those are so fun. I would just get it presentable and drive it. Or sell it for a profit if it’s not your thing
Zach you are not only a great painter, you are an incredible sculptor, I cannot believe you were able to piece all that broken plastic together, you were able to sculpt in and fill all the holes! Amazing job, keep your great content coming, I am always looking forward to your next project. Great job, you are such a talented artist.
I’ve watched every single video you’ve ever posted and I do look forward to watching them every time I get a notification. Thank you for all your hard work creating content, I know it’s twice the work.
Somehow one of your simplest and also one of your most impressive builds. This was a lot of work but saved a lot of money and is stuff we could all do with some practice. I love it. As for what to do with the car, it's cute, just wrap it. If you really want a manual, maybe you can manual swap it yourself?
Definitely needs painting OR get it wrapped in a Matt black!! That’d look so good, especially with the alloys and the red accents of the interior. Definitely gained a new subscriber 👍🏻
You need to replace the instrument cluster this generation beetle. I’m notorious for that problem. They mobilizer it’s inside of it and when you replace the cluster all your problems with the speedometer and a few gauge will go away. It does need to be programmed to the car so you need to find somebody beside the dealer because they charge $160 an hour That could program it
I second this. Working on and around these for over a decade I can assure you it’s an immobilizer issue. There are companies that will eliminate the immobilizer for you and most all you problems will go away.
Tips for removing tint in as large a sheets as possible: Use a steamer - handheld, wallpaper, etc to steam it up and then peel Spray it with simple green, cover with a black plastic trash bag, and let the sun heat it up. The first is what I've seen shops do, the second is what a tint installer recommended to me if I didn't have a steamer.
Nice work! The car looks so much better! I'd like to see the original color again if you paint it. It looks great in orange (I think it's tropic orange?). Also, make sure to do all the maintenance on the engine. Timing belt, water pump, trans fluid, etc etc. As for the fuel gauge, I wonder if the sender is having issues? I'd pull it and see if it's a huge mess or not. Otherwise? Looks like a winner! Also, I kinda wanted you to keep the stock stereo, but I have to say the new one looks pretty cool in there. It doesn't have the old school feel of the stock one, but I can't deny it'd be nice to have carplay in there.
Thanks for doing these type of videos. I'm close to retirement age and have considered flipping cars as a side income. Watching your process is really helpful.
I’d love to see a full repaint, maybe some coil overs or lower springs, nicer wheels, but overall I loved your rebuild on the interior door panels because I need to do mine so this gave me hope I can repair them!
Love how you get straight into it. Still one of my favourite channels!! Gotta do something with it. But a great video with all done in one take and a good useable thing at the end 👍🏼 You’d think these parts are available from Europe (UK) in pretty good nick. We don’t see hardly any sun 😂
The hotstapler is an AWESOME tool! Saved me from buying a new sideskirt when my left front tire smacked into the front of it when my balljoint separated. Repaired a swing seat, a freezer drawer and the interior handle on a doorpanel with it too! 25bucks well spent on Amazon, highly recommend it to anyone who is a bit of a DIY:er!
My suggestion is to repaint the hood and trunk lid. Repaint the bumpers if you feel the need. I just now rewatched the video and had the chance to mention this online. Otherwise, I think it is a cool ride.
hI Zach, do you still have your other beetle? the camouflage one? keep the cabrio beetle orange .Alway s inspiring and relaxing work with soft music.Big thank you from Richard.
Super fun restoration! Given the time and uniqueness of this one, it would be cool to see a neat new paintjob on this. A colorshift would be neat, like an actual beetle color of blue-purple? Or keep the red and make it a colorshift red-orange? So many fun options! 😎👍
Funny how my 2005 had or has all the same issues, I will be looking into that top motor as mine does the same thing. I hate to say it but you will probably need another cluster. They are known to go bad one gauge at a time. Sometimes gas first, sometimes speedo. Mine got to the point it started ticking randomly and draining the battery. Also good you replaced the radio, Monsoon amps also go bad and drain the battery. I had both issues and my battery drained overnight. One last thing, convertible top needs fabric guard refreshed every few years, otherwise it will start to leak through the canvas and remember to clean the drains as well. Other than that, having fun watching this project and can’t wait to see where you take it.
Repair the bad spots, paint it and sell it. So far it's looking a lot better...... You should try your hand a creating and selling some merch. You wouldn't have to go overboard but just a few. You could make some good looking t-shirts........
Probably $2,200 so far. It wouldn’t be ultimate rebuilds unless you go all out. The patina rust on your other beetle was very unique and original. Maybe cyberpunk this one and black it all out, maybe even do a camper build on top of it because things like camper builds get a ton of views for RUclips. Awesome job!
You're a real talent. Impressive how many things you get into and make look beautiful. I'm sure a lot of it is patience and you seem to have a lot of it. Hold on to it.
I would love to see it painted. First thing that came to my mind was sky blue and clouds painted on fenders. This is a happy car, now lives closer to nature, sun, I think she needs something like that.
I Like your channel. Less talking, shows the product and then get the job done with perfection. Show some others how work is done. They make a 45 min vid, 40 of it talking the rest is working.
The day after I bought my 92 ford ranger I had the same issue with the speedo I was barely doing 25 and it was reading 75 lol I think I had to have the speed sensor replaced I don't exactly remember since it was 30 years ago.
I'd love to see a Porsche 911 Series 993 spoiler on the back of this. I've seen one or two pictures of this done before, but no one has done a how-to video yet.
You have to go all the way. If not, you will be just doing everything halfway. You have done a okay so far. Halfway is never a place to ask people what they think.
I think a good paint job would go a long way regardless of your final plans for the vehicle. Maybe do a nice audio system with speakers, subs, etc? Not sure if kids still do that? Can you guess my age? Lol
Baguette put it on some 19 painted put a very nice stereo system in it and customize the interior would a new interior system new exhaust suspension everything
Curious as to why you didn’t put the hot staples on the inside of the panels rather than the outside or both? Fibreglass issues? Or did I miss something? Great outcome tho 😀
Apart from the paint the 2 thing I would do is going total black for the interior, the center console stands out too much like that, second thing is the ride height, lower would be better, but personally I hate that it looks higher on the front.
so two thoughts and a question, 1. you look like chuck from supernatural and 2. you could make a ton of money restoring those panels as they look awesome! question, could you strengthen those panels by covering the backside with a layer or two of fiberglass after the repairs to try and keep them from cracking/breaking in the future or during reinstall?
How much do you think I paid for this car and how much do I have into it?
$500 give or take a few.
You gave a clue when you mentioned that door panel being almost as much as you have in the car. So, I am going to guess you paid $1,000 for the car and have about $650 in other parts/materials. So my guess is $1,650
I'm guessing about 900 for the car and you have another $650 in it. In nice shape those sell for 6-7K
I think you gave for the car around 1500$ and spend around 6-700$ on repairs.
2475.00
You never seize to amaze me Zach. I would have never thought that those panels could have been brought back to life like that. Like magic.
You have to paint it!!😁
It's really nice to see someone do the actual repair work instead of just buying other parts like a boring jigsaw puzzle, Goonzsquad used to be good when they were starting off as they actually repaired stuff, it then just became a Jigsaw puzzle channel and look at how much money we've got channel.

Good job on reviving that bug, going to make a great car for some lucky girl. 👍
Afte4 watching you for several years now….you’ve yet again amazed me with your ability to create and bring your projects to life. YOURE THE MAN!
I can't believe you fixed the panels. That is truly mind blowing. A thousand likes my good sir.
Fan of your channel! You really make things seem realistic for anyone to do regardless of skill level. Oh and the rebuild for your dad was amazing and it means that you truly appreciate him for what he’s been in your life and that shows in your work!
Put a sleek paint on it, a few tasteful performance mods and a couple of comfort improvements and call it a good un'
Awesome job. I love that you do these rebuilds in one or two videos. Keep em up

Do a respray with the factory color. Great work!!
I’ve watched every single video you’ve ever posted and I do look forward to watching them every time I get a notification. Thank you for all your hard work creating content, I know it’s twice the work.
Great work as always! Nice seeing someone actually repairing stuff instead of just throwing parts on it!
Those wheels are nice, refinishing them would be a nice project as well!
Impressive results, Zach. What an incredible amount of work!
Air bag light is caused by intermittent reading from the seat wiring…(the seats fold forward weird and it jostles the sensors connector, common issue)
You’re an absolute beast of a man when it comes down to your determination and dedication! You always kill it Zach keep it up !!
What you did to fix that interior is amazing! Well done!
Maybe customize some more? Paint the wheel centers bronze? Lower it a little bit? I really like the low cost builds!
Remarkable, simply put. You are an amazing person, with no real limits. Keep the videos coming.
I watch your channel mostly because of your unique spin on the things you paint. Definitely paint it but with your own unique flair.
Somehow one of your simplest and also one of your most impressive builds. This was a lot of work but saved a lot of money and is stuff we could all do with some practice. I love it. Make sure the fuel pump is clocked the right way and isn’t a cheap repop pump to address the fuel gauge.
Update the center console to a 2006-2010. Pull everything including e-brake. Best mod I did.
Definitely needs painting OR get it wrapped in a Matt black!! That’d look so good, especially with the alloys and the red accents of the interior. Definitely gained a new subscriber 👍🏻
Maby it Will fix it self 😂 yeah they do that from time to time. Welcome to Das Auto fam❤
Based on every vehicle you've worked on before, I volunteer to buy this car when you are done with it. I already know it will be awesome.
Great work on those panels

Cool, appreciate the effort. Looking forward for part 2. But just flip it,nothing crazy here needed
But I want to go crazy. 😂

The colour is already beautiful, just finish the painting.
Dead battery can play havoc on the instruments. Do you have a code reader? Reset old codes.
Thanks for doing these type of videos. I'm close to retirement age and have considered flipping cars as a side income. Watching your process is really helpful.

I was wondering if you were going to attempt to rebuild the door cards- as usual, you didn't disappoint. Great job, the Beetle looks pretty good!
Thanks for sharing your skill and knowledge with us.Awesome and outstanding content as always.

I would love to see it painted. First thing that came to my mind was sky blue and clouds painted on fenders. This is a happy car, now lives closer to nature, sun, I think she needs something like that.
It would be interesting to see you use the panels as plugs to make molds them remake the panels out of fiberglass.
Great work putting the puzzle piece pieces together! I wonder if you could do a budget paint job fitting the value of the car?
if you are setup to do the door panels anyways, why not do a couple of extra? I only say this as you did a awesome job on those door panels.

Thanks I enjoyed this episode keep up the good work
Your skills are amazing.
Brilliant man! You are by far my favorite to watch! I would say 2,001.00.
Paint the Bug! After all that work, it deserves it.
Quick spray and clear then flip and tell us the profit.
150 mph in a beetle is crazy man, this thing pulls hard
brilliant job lad, new paint job same red ok
What were the previous owner doing in that car? Holding UFC fights in there?? Jeeze!!! Great work, as always!!
Body kit and huge sound system.
you should put a lift kit and baja tires on and take in on the beach.
Nice rebuild you prob have spent 1100 total so far on the car is my guess car and materials total
Your channel rocks paint it nice car deserves it!
Had a 2003 and the plastic was crap !!! But enjoyed driving it…
Don't forget to change the cabin air filter????? in the 2004 VW convertible.
Check the fuel level sender in the fuel pump. It is known to go bad in all MK4 generation
have a look at the plug on the alt and starter to get the speed pin to work cars with probs is the demis of all men
The dash cluster has to have bad solder joints, Id pull it out and have alook over the connector points as a first place to look
You're a great car painter I would say paint it
You put a lot into that car 🚗
Baguette put it on some 19 painted put a very nice stereo system in it and customize the interior would a new interior system new exhaust suspension everything

Repaint it and keep it. I have a 2000 Beetle and love it.
Fine job. Fine car!
Looks great.. but definitely re painted. By the with parts and labor about 4650 invested. 👍
Could be a great start to a flip series?
so two thoughts and a question, 1. you look like chuck from supernatural and 2. you could make a ton of money restoring those panels as they look awesome! question, could you strengthen those panels by covering the backside with a layer or two of fiberglass after the repairs to try and keep them from cracking/breaking in the future or during reinstall?
Dune buggy mad max styles would be killer 🔥🔥🔥🔥
My guess you paid $900.00 your into this car for $1,450.00 and a custom paint job couldn't hurt. As always awesome vid.
great video. thanks
Definitely repaint it
