I would love to live near a line that is constantly used by freight, I don’t think I would be able to drag myself away from watching them go by all the time!
Great location for filming between the two junctions, such variety. Always know when the loaded Lindsey-Kingsbury tanks go past my bungalow - everything shakes!
I’m Derby S&T ,I maintain and fault the points , tracks and signals on that junction , the points are shallow depth switches with Hw point machines, the switches give us no end of problems due to lipping because they are so soft and wear prematurely
Ah those JHAs - used to see them all the time around the Didcot/Newbury/Reading area. There was always a rake of them in the sidings near Old Oak Common on the GWML, branded Foster Yeoman and Amey Roadstone (ARC) before that.
The new wagons that have appeared on the wiltshire quarry jobs must have finally allowed the more clapped out wagons to get sent for scrapping, hope they have sense to keep the bogies for spares.
When is it going into full passenger service? Save a few quid getting that going between Edinburgh and London. Compensate for canning the northern part of HS2.
Am I right in thing that stenson juct is where you go over the bridge and at the side is old willington power station there boundary fence ? They’re Life expired and the designs past it’s best. The bodies are worn out, the bogies limit the wagon to a max speed of 45mph and are hard warring on the track which causes Network rail to increase access charges for these wagons making it less financially viable for the operator.
If they're heading to Attercliffe Sidings, they're very unlikely to go to Newport. I suspect they'll go to EMR Sheffield Attercliffe; there are other rail-connected scrapyards nearby (notably C F Booth in Rotherham), but why move them twice?
Why are freight trains in England so short? And they have the wildest set up for headlights, can the engineer even see where they are going during night time hours ??
Drivers rely on the signals. They would not be able to stop in time of they saw and obstacle. Excessively long trains would cause blockages at junctions not designed to take them.
Many reasons - The infrastructure is different to railways in other counties being the biggest restrictive element. Loops, yards and passing places are limited in size. 👍
Why scrap JHA's they're not that old, you go to eruope and along side new stuff they are still using locos and freight stock from the 70's and 80's even 60's if it still fulfills it's purpose, coz they actually maintain stuff instead of companies sweating assetts till they are only fit for scrap
I wondered why the aggregate trains to Tolworth were timed for 60mph from Bretts at Cliffe, yet the Freightliner trains from the Mendips were timed for 45mph. With these hoppers removed from traffic, I assume timings will be adjusted to 60mph?
... and the class 37 go on for ever. They have proved as durable as those Victorian steam classes which carried on running until the end of steam.
I really enjoyed seeing how busy this junction was with trains waiting to pass through it.
There's something immensely satisfying about watching freight trains!
Great video & there were enormous freight trains there 👏

37 at the end . The sound the power . Used to here them all the time where I used to live .
Was lucky enough to have a Cab ride in a 37 during my time with ScotRail.

Love to hear a Class 66 wind up from a stand ❤
Ooh that EMD 710
Makes me smile every time
It does nothing for me at all. Give me the growl of a 37 every time. I drive 66s and they are boring.
Class 66 with logo of Deutsche Bahn. 😉

Waited 8:20 to hear the sound of the familiar ole 37 series. I love the sound of those British engines. Cheers from eastern TN
Reminds me of those huge V8 American gas guzzlers of the 1970s

That looks a busy freight line.
Great Workings There
good catches !
Always interesting to see how y’all across the pond railroad, compared to us Yanks. A lot of differences, but also a lot in common.
Those wagons were state of the art back in 89 when I was working with them.

Nice to see a video that isn’t solely container freight. Some night shots would be great too!

Search for Nadee Restaurant in Findern - The line is next door 👍

Had an extra "notch" of power in reserve. Container trains aren't actually that heavy.conpared to "bulk" transport.
