There was a council that also had the Orange Catholic Bible come out of it from the religious elements of what became the empire. That would be another story element they could draw on from this time, as well as a lot of other specialized groups that originated about this time in universe. In addition, the loss of life from the loss of technology would be immense..
The Buterlian Jihad was as much a crusade against the 'God of Machine Logic'. IoW, the way humans think of and perceive technology and how to , or, not, apply such technologies. It was as much about changing peoples attitudes, as it was a military campaign. HBO: Drop as many recognized names into the show as possible (like are really only 2), and we are going to needs lots of pew pew lasguns in it.
I’m going to read Brian Herbert’s books after I’m finished with a reread of messiah. I’ll be interested to see how the show interprets the story and if it adheres to the actual Dune canon
Ripe for development of the Mentats, human supercomputers. We actually know that biofield information processing occurs electronically in microtubules and even uses quantum processing, so the science is already there.
I'd really like to know where the Bene Gesserit get the idea for the Kwizatz Haderach. Like Valya Harkonnen sits up one night in bed and is like "I know! We need a Reverend Father!"
Yes all the great houses combined is only equal to the imperial sardukar , each sardukar is worth 10 , regular soldiers, i much prefer the encyclopaedia version, butlerian jihad , sardukar, sisterhood
My current thought about Travis Fimmel's character is that perhaps he has some prescience and that his existence will give the sisterhood the idea to breed for their Kwisatz Haderach.
I’m worried. Part for me wishes Denis’s films didn’t do as well financially, Brian Herbert’s books are already not canon imo and now studios have spotted us as a cash cow potentially…hope I’m wrong.
100% they are an exploitative cash grab and the amount of lore they broke in them is honestly really sad. To be fair I’ve only ever read hunters and worms of dune…that was enough for me
I fully expect this. And for those not considering BH books canon to be called toxic. This is how entertainment companies work nowadays: divide the fandom on purpose and then complain about toxic behaviour to draw attention away from the fact that they made a steaming pile of excrement.
I'm guessing that the Travis Fimmel character is a Jihadist leader and the great power is the command of millions of Jihadists and thousands of battleships. He's a threat to the emperor but the emperor says that he's a "true believer". It would also fit with why he wants to destroy the Sisterhood. Pure speculation but its fun to think about.
I have been reading the School's of Dune Trilogy which ties into this show. While the writing style is nothing like Frank's, I am finding myself enjoying the trilogy having now started book 2. Are you gonna make lore videos related to the books as well or just focus on the show's canon?
I'm not going to do lore videos specifically from Brian's work but I am interested in covering aspects of the show and how they tie in to the FH Dune saga.
@@NerdCookies Alright, all good. I don't blame you. I've had a hard time getting into the Expanded Universe in the past, but for some reason after re reading through the OG six books and the hype from this show I've pushed through for better or worse lol. Keep up the great content!
Depends on what timeline they’re using. Salusa Secundus in the Brian Herbert novel isn’t a prison planet. It’s a holding of House Corrino now. It’s still a nightmare planet. Full of really hard people. It actually became NICER as a prison planet. This is I believe around the time the Sardukar won the longest space battle in history- it lasted about two hours from memory. Invicta did a great video explaining the history of the Sardukar according to what sources we have.
Invicta's video is based on the lore found in the Encyclopedia which is separate from the Brian Herbert novels. According to the Encyclopedia, Salusa Secundus was home to the Sardaukar long before the Battle of Corrin, and House Corrino actually traces its roots back to the Ecevit family, whose Head ruled the Sardau tribe with the title of Burseg. The first Padishah Emperor was one of these Bursegs, specifically the one who led the Sardaukar to victory at Corrin.
@@mewhenno Thank you. See that was my recollection. But it’s been so long since I looked at it that my head is swapping things. This goes to my point though. The Sardukar are arguably BETTER now than they are in Dune. They’re at the peak of their civilization. Such as one might call it. And if this is the first emperor, he’s a Burseg and grew up on the same planet. He’s from Hell Scotland himself. That’s why I wonder if that first establishing shot isn’t actually the Imperial Palace on Salusa Secundus
The Dune books not writen by F.Herbert are not quite liked by canonical Dune fans. So, this show has one advantage: they can detach from those Brian book, without angering the hard core fans.
Thanks for watching! If you enjoyed the video be sure to leave a LIKE!

I'll watch this when I get home. Need my "pre work out" prep for Novembers HBO debut!
Agree with another post in one of your other videos... the more casual tone is great. Love your content!
I would like to see the Butlarian Jihad itself.
I like the idea of exploring the legacy of the Butlerian Jihad and its impact on the origins of the various factions including the Bene Gesserit.
The Buterlian Jihad was as much a crusade against the 'God of Machine Logic'. IoW, the way humans think of and perceive technology and how to , or, not, apply such technologies. It was as much about changing peoples attitudes, as it was a military campaign.

It would be cool to see the Bene Tlelaxu in the show.
Really excited for this tv show 🔥

7:57 His power is to wave his hands around his face a lot when he talks while occasionally shifting his gaze erratically upward into nothing there.
Great video cookie 🙌

Good stuff,Nerd.
A story of the last machines struggling to survive, in hiding, on the run.
Would be interesting . Id rather this story over the 'prophecy' series .
Thank you, Nerd Cookies.
I am actually looking forward to this...
Thanks Elaine
like Knights of the Old Republic, it seems strange that everything looks the same even though it's supposed to be 1000s of years in past to main story
I'd really like to know where the Bene Gesserit get the idea for the Kwizatz Haderach. Like Valya Harkonnen sits up one night in bed and is like "I know! We need a Reverend Father!"
I just wish we could focus on other get houses and must the sisterhood been more observers in this era.

I'm scared for him because I'm getting a savage antimen vibe from the trailer!
I’m worried. Part for me wishes Denis’s films didn’t do as well financially, Brian Herbert’s books are already not canon imo and now studios have spotted us as a cash cow potentially…hope I’m wrong.
Exactly the Brian/Anderson novels are NOT cannon. They are fan fiction at best, throwaway sci fi
100% they are an exploitative cash grab and the amount of lore they broke in them is honestly really sad. To be fair I’ve only ever read hunters and worms of dune…that was enough for me

I’m hoping that this show is good, at least as good as the vilnueve movies, but we shall have to see

Where is the House Atreides Family In this Series??????

Manford toranado
So it's Game of Thrones in the Dune Universe?
