We will never experience magic or creativity like this on television ever again. R.I.P, The WB. (1995-2006). Gone but not forgotten.
Rest In Peace to The WB Television Network (January 11,1995-September 17,2006) as well as United Paramount Network aka UPN (January 16,1995-September 15,2006)
😭I missed them
Love the late 1990's and the early 2000's.
My generation
These were great years and the tv shows back then was a lot better than the ones out now. It would be nice to go back in time and relive these moments again.👍
Were you insinuating shows like The 100 aren't anywhere near as good as shows like Buffy?.... If so I wholeheartedly agree.
@@iamenobius2339 yep thank you tv show back then was so much better earything is so gay now yes I said it
They have put on shows then that you know cuz they're a few of the few of many that is what is this as it was in the beginning I'll find something else .💯😎
Big nostalgia here. Putting the instrumental "You Learn" as the background music really takes it to another level. Makes me yearn for those years again in a way. I wish I could take the things I know now and go back in time. Some real stunners in this clip.
No but we can all agree that THE QUALITY of this video
Honestly, this had to have been one of the best tv seasons ever on a single network. They had Buffy, Angel, Dawson's Creek, Felicity, Charmed, Roswell (underrated), and Popular (underrated) all at their peak and on at the same time. The ONLY show missing that had yet to come out that would have completed it was Gilmore Girls.
Christina G. Popular? I mean I guess.
Christina G. 1999 was an explosion of great teen years especially with explosion of teen pop and R&B music that summer
Such a great time to be a teenager… with music and television, the new millenium… 21 years later, and where are we now? I am just sobbing…
Don't forget 7th Heaven as well ☺️☺️
Veronica Mars would be the next best one!
WOW! Gellar WB promos are so rare! Post more for us if you can!
Yes I will if I find any
Buffy, Charmed, Popular, Roswell, Jack & Jill, Felicity, Dawson’s Creek... I can’t think of any WB show I disliked back then...
Worked on the main lot as well as the Ranch. The WB sign with located on the Ranch.
This is my favorite promo of all time especially with Sarah Michelle gellar in it she is so beautiful and very talented
Iconic😍I miss this!
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Jack and Jill
Felicity
Charmed
I miss the WB era!!! 😫😭😂😂😂
They should have never merged ... What was the point 🤷♀️
Since it's still wb seed around
I’m not exactly sure, but I know that during the Fall 2005 season that The WB and UPN fell behind when Spanish channel Univision overtook them in the 18-34 year old demographic.
I love the 1990 and 2000s they were my favorite years on the wb11 I go back
Absolutely amazing.
Even though some of my favorite early WB stars were gone by the fall of 1999 (Nikki Cox, Tia and Tamara), there was still plenty of star depth for the network
I agree, but Nikki Cox would come back to The WB in the 2000-2001 Season with her show Nikki which premiered on October 8,2000 during the network’s Fall 2000 Season and it ran for 2 seasons.
Great History That Is From 1999 And The Actors look young and great especially people watching the old shows of How Television looked like back then and has changed over the years
mad! nostalgia
You had to be there. ❤
Perfect tv times
I love The WB
There's no Michigan J.
Awesome
And also Buffy
I’m a Xennial born in 1980, I don’t feel like I belong in the millennial or the generation x category. They should call us Xenials the WB generation. We were 19 when this promo aired and these shows defined us as a generation. Thanks WB
Me I was born on June 1, 1992. I remember when this promo aired as well because I was 7, I love both The WB and UPN and miss them both.
This is a cool promo, I like seeing it. Especially the Popular cast, I love Popular, even though I only found out about it in 2014. Yeah I was too young for the WB, but these promos are still cool. This question is for you who uploaded this video, do you feel that Popular didn't get the credit it deserved like all these other shows did?
Thanks. It was directed by Steve Purcell I found it via Vimeo. I remember watching popular when it aired. I was 7 when it first aired and 8 going 9 when it ended in May 2001. I feel that popular was an underrated WB series
I miss WB. Also UPN was the stuff as well. Weren't they the same company.
Me 2, best networks of the 90s
The WB television network was owned by Warner Bros Entertainment and Tribune Broadcasting and UPN (United Paramount Network) was a joint venture between Chris-Craft Industries and Paramount the U in UPN stood for Chris Craft's United television while the P stood for Paramount Pictures
Did this promo originally contain the “You Learn” instrumental or was the edited in after? Nice.
No Alanis in the original promo… part of the edition.
Memories.
I love charmed and Dawson's Creek
nostalgiaaa
Was this from their website or something? This looks way too good to be a VHS capture.
Omg that’s detective wilden from pll 😂
Ugh...
My favorite is Jacqueline and David
I watched charmed and buufy (1-3) and Gilmore Girls!
Buffy
0:05 Roman Bridger 😂
They say Buffy and Dawsons creek had the biggest budget for promotion. You can tell. Charned promos were quick or barely there compared to rave reviews and promotion for Buffy and Dawsons creek. For a show that had a big first season debut in October 1998 the promotions weren’t as significant.
Charmed was always 2nd in the ratings too. It often outdid Buffy, Dawsons and Felicity but for some reason it was treated like the red headed step child lol. I watched every WB show except 7th Heaven which ironically was the #1 show.
@@pretendamnesia I watched every WB show except Felicity lol
@@AmoMe2009 Charmed didn’t even get a Marquee sign on that WB backlot which i find crazy for a show that outlasted Buffy, Angel, Dawson, Felicity, Roswell, & Popular 😆
@@pretendamnesia and what I also dont like is that even when a heavy episode’s theme was to be taken seriously, the promo would be whimsical and family-oriented(season 6-8 is best example). They joked around too much with the handling of the show’s advertising in all aspects. All the other shows you mentioned were defining and it showed in their promos. They could’ve done better. They Even recycled a lot of their montages during the upfront promos of the start of the year. 2000, 2002 and 2005 are perfect examples.
@@AmoMe2009 Definitely. I think cancelling Buffy, Angel, Roswell and Popular and constantly switching it up and having new shows premiere every year and recycling because they wanted to be cheap instead of invest in the shows they had. Charmed took it like a champ, but other producers of other shows didn’t. They seriously cancelled Roswell & Buffy for Dead Last Birds of Prey Glory Days and The Mountain 😆 No wonder the network folded in 2006. The only hit they had in the later years was 2005’s Supernatural. I also heard this rumor they didnt want to air The O.C. (Its a warner brothers production) because they thought One Tree Hill would be better 😂
I've noticed since I'm older that the wb stars were much older playing teenagers or 20, something's vs how cw actors be young af 🤣
CW stars aren't much younger than the actors that were on the WB back in the day. They just feel a lot younger because we're so much older now 😆
Sounds like “Mr Lover Man”.
Logo Man it’s actually the instrumental to Alanis Morrisette’s You Learn from her 1995 debut album Jagged Little Pill
1st season without WGN America.
Matthew Campbell yes unfortunately. The 1999-2000 season of The WB got to a rough start due to the fact that WGN-TV (Chicago’s WB affiliate at the time) announced that The WB would be taken off their national superstation feed carried on cable and satellite outside the Chicago area so they wouldn’t compete with most WB affiliates carried on cable. It took affect beginning with Kids WB on September 6,1999 where kids WB programming was replaced by syndicated programming and WB Primetime programming aired on WGN America (WGN Entertaining America at the time) for the last time on October 6,1999, the following day on October 7,1999 WB Programming was replaced by movies aka WGN Big ticket movie. The WB gave viewers in low market areas a number to call and get the WB on cable, The WB 100+ Station Group launched on September 21,1998 a year before WGN took the WB off their superstation feed. The WB 100+ Station Group was where they had cable only WB Affiliates in low market areas, they launched it as an alternative to The WB seen on the Superstation feed of WGN. WGN had the WB affiliation in the Chicago area until 2006 when they became a CW affiliate and reverted back to an independent station on September 1,2016 after 21 years with a network affiliation.
@@TracyGJacksonTV I remembered I was 5th grader at old WC daugherty elementary WGN cable has a WB loss.
They need to shut down The CW, and revert it back to The WB Television Network, a network that was signed off and shut down back in 2006. They need to bring back The WB Television Network and UPN Network by late in this year, or at some point in 2023. Also, they need to shut down MyNetwork TV too, because all they show is fucking reruns of old shows.
As much as I miss The WB and UPN I do know The CW expanded their night of programming with Saturday. MyNetworkTV launched September 5,2006 during the Fall 2006 Season, they tried to compete with The CW with original programming but sadly it didn’t last and they became a syndication service kinda like PTEN (Prime Time Entertainment Network).
Great memories… I had forgotten about Amanda Peet in Jack and Jill… other than that, a complete lack of black, asian or token characters… Gosh, times have changed 🤭🤣
