    Lovely - I like the way you place the colors - very pleasing and they blend well. Nice to see them growing in pots so well. You are showing people that don't have large yards another way to enjoy roses. Thank you!!

      Having so many containers must need a lot of hard work. I can’t imagine that 😂😂 Do you have to deal with cold weather?

      @@haofang8063 you are definitely right, but from the day I set up my automatic irrigation, it is not bad at all, I just have fertilizer for all of them, and after I can sit back and enjoy for the whole season. My climate is kind of mild, the coldest temperature in the winter is about -10 degree C, but just happens couple days, the rest is from -2C to 10C in the winter, so all I have been doing every year is gathering all my potted roses at a corner of garden where is not exposing to the strong wind or a lot of rain. And I rarely lose roses, sometimes I lost one or two in the very cold winter, but that’s all and I can accept that and pretty happy with the result so far!

    You have a lovely rose garden and thank you for your rose review it’s very helpful. This is my first year with boscobel and it has not stopped blooming and it does pretty good in zone 10a heat. It did give me a bit of powdery mildew because we did have a cooler spring but its worth having. Princess Anne is also a favorite of mine in container it’s beautiful and very healthy.

      Thank you! Glad you see it’s helpful. Boscobel is absolutely a good one even its disease resistance is not an excellent one, but still be good enough, so you can’t go wrong with Boscobel for sure. I don’t have Princess Anne in my collection but I heard a lot of good things about her. Have a great summer with your roses!

    Gorgeous ! I would love 'Bolero' but never seen it available here in UK and I've looked everywhere online in the past :( Eustacia Vye & Gabriel Oak are on my buy list which keeps getting longer! Happy Canada Day for yesterday I used to live in the Kawartha Lakes about an hour and a half north of Toronto :)🍁

      Thank you! We celebrated Canada Day here yesterday and ended up the day by the fireworks display from my City. Sorry when you could not find Bolero in UK, but this one is form Meilland- France, so I am assuming it would be available somewhere in the Euro, where you could order online and ship to UK. Have a great summer!

    Beautiful roses, especially the Bolero! What type of containers do you use to keep the plants so healthy for years, including during the winter? Thanks!

      Thanks, I have been using a lot of type of containers, but as long as the container size is minimum at 18” wide and high, it should be good, the critical things for planting roses in the containers are you have to have a well draining fertile potting mix soil, and your winter is not too harsh (above zone 7). I have couple video to share how I plant roses in the containers, please see below for your reference:

    Could you recommend container sizes suitable for growing roses?

    • @smallbackyardfun
      @smallbackyardfun  3 месяца назад

      You mean climbing roses or bush roses. For climbers, I would go a little bit bigger containers like 20”x20”, you need room for the root can develop in couple years. For bushes, I would say 18”x18” is a good size for most of them. For miniature roses, 14”x14” is pretty standard to start. Hope that helps

      I don’t protect any roses at night or in winter. But may I ask why you need to protect them at night time? I understand when you protect them in winter but at night, I don’t get it!
