    Another good video. Thanks, guys. Yeah, Pyle 57 clones have been in my studio for years. They're no joke. I'll reach past a real 57 for one of them about 1/2 the time. Surprised that's not the model they used in the drum pack, though.

      That thing is absolutely great. I've used it with amps, toms, kick drums, snares, backing vocals and they work, seems to me the thing picks up high frequencies in a very pleasant way.

      It looks like its not available anywhere so it could be not manufactured anymore? If they included it in these kits they would definitely move more. If anyone has a link to the Pyle 57s let me know.

      We do have a video walking through our drum mix with stock plugins if you want to check that out, maybe it’ll be able to help you get a little more out of them!

      @@BlackBridgeSound i have fixed my shitty mixing job, the issue and why it was sounding so bad is bc i had the eq all wrong, i cranked the bass and turned the treble down a bunch on the kick which sounds ok but then i cranked the treble and figured out that fixed it kinda. then i just added another mic for beneath the snare

  • @user-zv7lm8uk7h
    @user-zv7lm8uk7h 2 года назад

    Do this but include a 57 kit.... which should sound better than all these kits.... I hope.

    • @BlackBridgeSound
      @BlackBridgeSound  2 года назад +2

      57 sounds great on the Toms and snare, only problem is if you were to pick up the drum mic pack you get a kick mic and 3 57s and it’s over 500$. With that many mics you’d still have to pick up an extra 57 and a set of overheads to get a decent drum recording on an average kit setup then you’re pushing into the 800$+ range.
      It would obviously be a much better option to go with but for someone that’s just starting out or just trying to record for cheap it’s a little bit of a steep price point.

    This is what i was looking for exactly lol. What about the samson dk707 set? i hear really good things and the set with 7 xlr cables and a case for 269$

    • @BlackBridgeSound
      @BlackBridgeSound  3 года назад +1

      Sounds like a killer deal, here in Canada it doesn’t look like that pack is available with the cables included and it’s like $420 for just the mic pack, seems to have really good reviews though! Maybe we’ll get around to that one eventually!

      @@BlackBridgeSound Wow had no idea it was sooo much more expensive over amazon ca. Off topic question but what interface do you use for recording? you guys should do a budget studio episode for recording drums, guitar ect.

    • @BlackBridgeSound
      @BlackBridgeSound  3 года назад

      Haha yea totally! That’s an episode we’ve actually already been interested in putting together. We use an old m-audio profire 2626 into a Mac Pro 3,1 which can both be sourced for around $200 a piece used up here. Our video editing machine is the same 3,1 and we actually had it die, hopped on marketplace and picked up another one, swapped the drives over and good as new 👌

    What about the Shure PGA 4 mic kit 260 used, 300 new? (USD).1x PGA52, 1x PGA57, 2x PGA181s with XLRs etc. A church that wants to get more into our streams. I am thinking of using the two 181s as overheads and the 52 as kicks. Then i'd use the 57 as a cab mic. thoughts?

    • @BlackBridgeSound
      @BlackBridgeSound  2 года назад

      The PGA 4 kit looks pretty decent, I think it would work out quite well for what you’re going for, although we haven’t tried out the set. One thing I’d consider though is adding another mic in for the snare on the kit, sm57 mics can be picked up pretty cheap on the used market, although Pyle makes a dirt cheap clone that’s pretty close, Pyle pdmic78.

    • @bahamasc
      @bahamasc 2 года назад

      @@BlackBridgeSound I can't find the SM57 'Cousin' Mic anywhere online from the US. Do you have a link for the Pdmic78? COuldnt find it anywhere! I also was told avoid the SM57 used mics because a lot of fakes are out there.

      @@BlackBridgeSound Also what you think would be better the PGA57 on the snare and the SM57 on the Cab or vice versa?

    • @BlackBridgeSound
      @BlackBridgeSound  2 года назад

      Looks like the Pyle version is out of stock everywhere 😢
      You could also pick up another pga57, they’re fairly cheap individually new.

    • @BlackBridgeSound
      @BlackBridgeSound  2 года назад

      You could also consider a mic pack like the PDKM7 in this video and use it for overheads, kick, and snare, then have a couple mics left over for instruments. You’d have to also get xlr cables but may work out to be around the same cost as the shure kit anyways.
      As with any condenser mics also make sure your mixer is capable of providing 48v phantom power to the condenser mics in any kit you choose.
