They are like little kids. Gotta see what your doing and get right in the middle. I really enjoy your videos. Who knew I'd fall in love with bison at 75 yrs old. Thanks so much
Boy I sure do agree. I am 73 this year and I absolutely love watching Dunbar chasing the four wheeler waiting for cubes. 🧐❤️
Same here! I tell my adult children it’s a blessing to see the beautiful Bison our Native American ancestors lived with.
For all those who subscribe to your channel who think they have a right to critique your work or who voice their disapproval of what ever it is that they dislike about your content ... I apologize for their rudeness. It has become very apparent that many people believe that because you have decided to share your lives with us. That they can in turn judge you and how you go about what you do. It seems as if the world has forgotten that everyone is in the process of learning as they start out. And we seem to forget what that felt like now that they think they know everything. Granted there are some sharing of things that is very much welcomed. But there is a point when it becomes intrudif. Positive sharing should be given in a helpful way. Otherwise lets let Dusty & his family enjoy learning their business. The content they share with us is really enjoyable to watch. But its sad to have to know they feel like they have to defend everything they do. Its time to stop making them feel like what ever they do will come under attack. And those of you who do this know who you are. Let the poor man alone to do his life his way. And if you do not like it. Well stop watching. Its that simple.
I would very much like to say thank you for sharing your life's journey with us. I truly love watching the bison and seeing how your family is growing. Its always been a nice break away from my daily life to sit down and for just a half hour or so enjoy watching Crossed Timbers Bison entertain me while I drink my morning coffee and laugh sometimes while watching Dunbar running along with the four wheeler waiting for cubes! So once again thank you so much for taking us along on your journey thru life.
🧐😉🫶🏻
Hoping yall have been safe throughout all of the storms lately. Prayers for you.
I remember when you were putting in the system at your parents place. Also remember how Dunbar drove you crazy playing in the trenches! He was not helping you! Fun memories of the early days.
Four feet deep in our part of the world. Storms nearby not so bad, but a little ways away the terrible Ts might be swirling around. 😢
Dusty your doing what needs to be done👍 yes it takes hard back braking work, but you can be proud you did it in the long run❤️U all extra ❤️to Dunbar❤️❤️❤️
Everything you do will be improvements to your ranch. One step at a time and it will get done. It’s great your getting you own water system….. self sustaining!!!! That wonderful! Blessings you guys over you.❤ from OKC.
Dusty you and Marissa have done an amazing job . Nothing like doing it the old-fashioned way boy you all had your hands full thank you so much for friends
Thank goodness for the trencher. I couldn't imagine digging all that by hand.
its possible, but Very hard work, especially in rocky soils. i dug by hand about 25 feet of a trench, but it was nice sandy mucky clay soil. but it was also 100 degrees and no shade. so, i had to take a few breaks haha. and then i found a 300 pound boulder slab rock that i had to use my tractor to move, using a chain and ingenuity. thankfully i dont have to do that again haha. watching them work to lay out that pipe though, is major motivation for me haha. their Bison are beautiful though. such amazing work they got going.
Come July and aUgust, this will be done and you will not be worrying so about the bison being thirsty😅
You Re getting her done dusty!
Great video, Thank you for sharing 👌 There is nothing like having teamwork 👏 😀 😊
Many hands make light the work. True statement.
Gotta love the hydro bed and great friends. Water is everything in New Mexico/ Oklahoma and all the Southwest. 🎶💐💖🫂
The truck worked great! Glad you have it for so many things!
You are seconded by a team of bison's inspectors for sure. I admire your dedication to provide them with all necessities of Bisons' life, feed grains water.
Going that extra 6 inches deep - from 18" to 24" is wise. When you get a "100 year" cold snap your water pipes will be safe and warm in the embrace of Mother Earth. GOOD MOVE!
I Minnesota go deep. Frost can go 4 Feet sometimes, this is Minnesota. Once temperature stays at a constant below zero the ground freezes easily and fast. That's why planting needs some hot sunshine.
Permafrost never really thraws. out.
Man that Hydrabed sure comes in handy for all kinda things!
The HB has really become a necessary tool for the rancher.
What’s next.
Marissa you crack me up. 😊
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work.. they say by the end of your life if you can count on one hand your best friends that you're the richest person in the world.. you're lucky to have good friends in your life community..😊😊 happy Sunday
That thing on the back of your truck is as handy as a pocket on a shirt ❤
Amen!
Thank God for friend's! ❤
We had to dig a waterline to hook on to my parents place when we built our house. We rented a ditch digger and then layed PVC pipe. This was 39 years ago because that's how long we've been married. It was some hard work we dug it 2 ft. deep. I was glad when that job was over but our water has never frozen.
That Hydrabed is an amazing tool for your farm! I"m glad you've got great friends, and you make it enjoyable at the same time.
The Bakers did it again!!🎉 Thank God for great friends and good equipment!❤
You and Marrissa are a great team! She doesn’t hesitate to jump right in and get down and dirty working on the ranch which saves your family big money, soon enough little Brook will be doing the same. You do have wonderful friends that are always there for you as well. That watering system is going to be a great asset to the ranch, congratulations! ♥️🙏🏻🇨🇦
Huge job, great cheering unit! Quality control inspectors - bison approved. Thanks, Hydrabed,
I could totally see you putting one of the wheat field sprinklers, in each if the pastures after your water system is in
Boy, they messed you over by not having that pipe on a reel. Next time, if they do that to you, make a frame that fits in that space where the reel is supposed to be. You work too hard as it is. Your fellow Okie.
Hi Dusty, Marissa and Brooks Great video. Always something to do on the farm. This water is going to make your job easier Marissa is a great helper and loves what she does. Great job. God bless and love yall ❤❤
Needed to make a reel for it
Nobody messed him over her just doesn't know what he is doing. When you do piping or field tile you get a reel cart. Rent one!
HINDSIGHT IS 20-20 !! 😮
6 feet in Montana.
Wow. All I can say is wow. That is amazing how you got that all done. Glad you had friends to help you.
Always good to have a friend or two stop by just in time. Cole is a super friend!!
I'm going to give you a suggestion for the future do a loose wrapping of the chain. We called it hog-tying it. You throw the chain through then flip it back over the top and back through. It is an n old flatbed truck driver's tip. It would prevent the flopping outside of your control arms. Between you and your brother-in-law, I get the enjoyment of watching you work since I am now handicapped and retired. Shame I live in Tennessee because I would willingly drive as much of your equipment as my handicap permits. Those tires are used a lot on those huge dump trucks they use in mining. I have delivered a few to both ranchers and mining operations. Love seeing Dunbar, he has become my favorite bull of yours as to why I am not sure just like him. Go, Dunbar.
That's quite the project. Thank goodness for machines
The spikes on the "Hydrabed" extend in and out, so you can grab your hay bales. A piece of steel pipe (2, 3 or 4 inch diameter) that fits between those spikes would be a lot smother as a rolled than the chain you used. Just don't clamp it too tight. A piece of lumber (2x4?)or pipes on each of the bars, extending around 3 feet out would also keep the poly pipe inside the Hydrabed arms. I am sure you could come up with a way to temporarily attach the lumber or pipes. ;)
Jason at @sowtheland built a "Spinning Sally" to help pull wire. It's pretty simple and I bet you could make one big enough for your pipe!!!
Way to go Dusty, Marisa....hard work and determination Gets the Job Done!!!!
It's great seeing the horses out in the pasture together 💚
Really cool way too get pipe in the ground!! Glad you all are home, well need get away!! Love n Blessings
Happy bison ranching! Get some nice rain for those native grasses. Get some! Get some! 😄
Happy Trails from Northern California!!!
Working with that spool definitely looks really difficult. Heavy and awkward. I feel for you. Huge job. I actually thought of you today and figured you would be celebrating the holiday with family and friends (cause I enjoy seeing your videos & what’s going on at the ranch)…but the work never ends does it? I’m chillin’ today myself. No cookouts or parties & I’m good with that. 😊
Way to go you and your wife are doing a awesome job the bison are looking good I support you and your wife a 100 💯 percent
That Hydrabed is AMAZING......Thanks Dusty and family an all 👍
Old F-4 Phantom ll fighter jet pilot Shoe🇺🇸
Hydra bed should make attachments if they don't looks like they are missing out on a lot of sells.
Your tire's if you are at all worried about chemicals leaching out there has to be a paint or conditioner or something of that nature for the problem.
I see a hard working farmer/rancher not only doing his animals and land good but you have an awesome family and friends that do what they can to help....
Not to mention you are up cycling--- kudos to you
the trench would need to be 4 foot deep in Minnesota to be below the frost line. Good job.
The first thing I saw was that instead of a chain, it would have been smoother to use a piece of pipe. It would have rolled better.
I have to agree. I thought a pvc pipe with the chain through it would have jept it up on one level and rolled off more evenly. Thank God for good friends coming at just the right time. ❤😊
Thank you, hydro bed, for supporting the cross timber bison.
So much useful information thank you Dusty 😊
You and your wife are great to do your own work! I have really fallen in love with your videos! Bod bless you!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
put a piece of metal pipe stem in between your spikes on your hydrabed to make a core for the pipe to turn on easily....
That is an awesome truck. I had to giggle when Marissa was taking the ditch witch off to the left and you walked up on her preoccupied with reading. Lol. She was multi-tasking.
DUSTY and Marissa great job ,love the way Marissa was driving the trenches for the pipe. May you have the rest done really soon. Enjoy your weekend. David B.,Utah. 💞💞🇺🇲🇺🇲❤❤❤.
Dusty jus think us usa people all did things on deck hands dig and layed water lines for cows and vegies 30 acre wide 3 people ..yes they are heavy . Im glad you were able to do machine we didnt have them here. Take care Dusty glad you made it and your wife. :) love ya and hope no other Twister hits Oklahoma
Glad your home and safe
A steel pipe inside a pvc pipe between the hydro arms may have solved your issue.
@poetofthelight I had that same thought to help stable the roll of hose.
Hello Bakers. Dusty, yup that’d do it going crooked. No hands on steering wheel and concentrating on the phone. Sprung Marissa, it may be a boring tedious job, but it’s gotta be done. Hope you don’t text and drive 🌞. Before anyone says anything, I’ve done plenty a times rotary hoeing paddocks as long as what your doing. The job needs straight lines for when planting cane. Night time is oh so more exciting 🌞. #farming
Nice job, next time maybe try putting pvc pipe on the chain then spool of poly might work better? Love the use of old equipment tires too 😊
IF YOU WOULD HAVE USED A PIPE IN THE CENTER OF THE ROOL YOU NOT HAVE HAD THAT TRUBLE. . put the pipe in between the spers and strap the are together os rhay will not relice the pipe
Wow oh wow. That was a huge job. Yes, friends are invaluable.
I used bright spray paint in spots to mark a trencher route. If line of sight not good, Ive used yellow string and stakes, then marked from that every 20-30 feet. It helped. Thank goodness for your friends helping! That pipe was tough.
Thanks for sharing Dusty!
Great job Dusty. A lot of work but it's water for the Bison 🦬. Now if they don't make it a toy. Blessings 🙏🫶🙏🫶. Stay safe in this "Mother Nature's angry at everyone " weather.
Duaty, While the trench is still new and easy to see, consider buying a big bunch of magnets to put in the soil above the pipe. they will make locating it in the future when the trench is no longer obvious. Another project might endanger the water pipe, and if you're able to find it easily with a magnetic locator that can be avoided.
(Crusty surveyor's advice from experience.)
Boy what a work out and those bison are so curious! Get er done Dusty! Funny the difference in soil. Well to stop the rumors check every so often the water content and see what’s happening. I would assume e that if those tire holds the heat the water will warm up and that maybe when you should test the water
I ❤ DUNBAR - The Tire King
Yup,having livestock is work its not like you can park them and your responsibilities stop.
We had cattle and raised Quarter Horse.
Lots of work but I loved it.
Love watching your videos....
Recently our community had a new 4 inch pipe laid to give the local township more water, it took several months one winter, then a second winter to finish going only 2 miles, the modern safety requirements (lazy workers) made it a long slow process, when it was orginally laid a D8 bulldozer trenched and laid the pipe at the same time took 6 weeks for all the road sides, he did our roadside 6 miles in 1 day, with no traffic management, this time they would leave our narrow road with traffic lights and too many cones from Friday lunchtime until Monday mid morning for the whole winter. We all would turn the traffic lights around and remove most of the cones, as they made the roadway tooooo narrow.
You could've just used a fence post as an axle between the arms.... Oh I should'a guessed you figured it out lol.
I lived on my Grandparents dairy as a kid and I just love to watch you guys do your thing. Possible suggestion, do you have clip on arm extensions for the hydro bed arms so the pipe won't roll off to the side. good job.
I'm so glad you left the footage in. Things aren't always easy or pretty when you have to do things yourself to try to save tens of thousands of dollars. #reallifeadventures
Dusty, I think you guys did a fantastic job. That was really a hard job. If I can make a suggestion. Maybe put a chain over the top of the hose to hold it together.
Dusty love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and your family and the bison and other animals and working on the homestead laying water line
You & Mariska sure work good together!❤
Thanks, your ranching now good job. ✌🏻👊🏼
I can’t draw a straight line with a ruler, I can only imagine how wavy and crooked the trench would be if I were doing it. 😂😂😂
Seems like if you put a rigid pipe between the arms of the hydrabed rather than using chain, might work better.
should have used that "As Seen On T-V" never kink hose...lol
Great job! It doesn't need to look good. It just needs to work. Happy to see you are recovered from the sea sickness. I hope you had fun in our Sunshine State! Hurricane season starts June 1st and they're saying this one may break records. We live near the coast about 50 minutes north of Tampa, so we often deal with hurricanes and the tornadoes they send out. One damaged our roof many years ago. We will breath a sigh of relief when Thanksgiving is here and hurricane season is about over. With continued prayers for you all in Tornado Alley from Donna and Mike in Spring Hill, FL....
Good job. Thank goodness for friends and family.
cut a piece of pvc pipe the distance between the two arms on the hay bailer, run the chain thru the PVC pipe and roll out the pipe
Good job
An automotive/marine compass temporarily secured to the centerline of the equipment (suction cup), establish a heading for your ditch and simply keep the needle on your bearing... straight line trenched.
Grab a section of pipe with a larger interior diameter than the thickness of your chain and run the chain through your pipe to allow the roll of material to ride on the pipe as you roll out the spooled material. That straight/solid horizontal support of the roller you just created should allow you to raise your arms high enough to keep the weight of the material helping the metal pipe roll over the chain, rather than the friction of the rolled material dragging on the chain and allowing the chain to score into the material. You gonna have a sweet watering source when all done.
Food for thought. When you want to install your valving to branch off the trunk, use a 2" "Y" and reduce it to 1" to feed the valve. Between the "Y" and the valve, install a 1/4 turn ball shut-off so you can perform work on one valve and still have flow to the system downstream, and very little "drain it to work on it" as needed for repairs.
Work that girl, Dusty!! Then take her to town for ice cream. Men LOVE a cheap date. LOL
That is definitely a hardworking ranch truck setup. I had to laugh at the non-spooled pipe. That reminded me of the dreded spool of fishing line or weedeater line, lol😅 but a much larger scale. Lots of work guys ranching it for the Bison with needs and forethought
Dusty you and Marissa sure did a great job digging a trench and putting all that pipe in. And thanks to the other help you had. That will be a huge benefit. 👍❤️
I'd love to see if goldfish work out in these new tires.
The big ditch witch you used can trench faster than you are doing it
Nice work all of you!!
Lot of work but better than shoveling.
Man, that was a job! I don't envy you or your friends lol. I'm just curious, how much land do you have? It has to take a lot of acreage to run as many head of Bison as you have.
Looks like you released or unveiled a monster...
that's too much work for me with the hydrabed.
Are you going to show the finished office sometime?
I’m hope it’s not 110 there like it is here in Kingsbury Tx. I don’t understand why there is no spool. My husband laid over an .08 mile came with a returnable spool Glad you got it done. You’ve come a long way. Have a great week❤ Hope it’s only rain ☔️ storms have been bad all over
I saw a hydro bed truck on a rerun of mountain Men
Hi Dusty, have fun putting in the water tank
Man that's the way to support your sponsor
What great piece of equipment.
Congrats...great update on the ranch!
Just like you did at the OG place. :)
Your meada's are beautiful 😘
The sounds of the equipment and your herd in the background is true grit ranching 🦬
Happy Memorial Day Weekend. Enjoy your videos
That's one nasty slinky..😊
Wow ,tremendous job 💥so cool.
