I read Warrior of the Wild based on your suggestion and cute is the perfect way to describe it! I loved it so much. So cozy and warm and badass. I don’t read YA like ever but I absolutely ADORED it.
You should make a video about short fantasy series (duologies and trilogies only) for people who like the little bit of extra depth you can get from extra books without being bogged down with a large-commitment behemoth series. EDIT: I realize my wording seems like I'm telling you how to do your job, I didn't mean for it to sound that way😅.
I loved All the Stars and Teeth. I was really surprised by the writing. I agree that it isn't super original but I really enjoyed the way she used the familiar and gave it a boost. Foundryside is on my TBR for this year. Ash Princess hit my radar recently, so glad to hear you liked it.

Love me some Mistborn era two! Plan to check out Foundryside at earliest convenience, too. Though, I suspect I may share some of the gripes you mentioned...
If you like The Dresden Files, you should read the "Harmony Black" series by Craig Schaeffer. I guess if you wanted to start in chronological order, you should start with the "Daniel Faust" series. I started with Harmony Black and then read the Faust series and it didn't diminish my enjoyment of the series at all.
I wanna reread the first Dresden book this year (had it as an audiobook years and years ago and didn't really care for it back then) & Warrior of the Wild sounds so good as well! I generally need more viking / norse-mythology inspired recommendations 😍
Dresden Files really worked for me to read between heavier books. The first books are very episodical so, it's clearly murder of the week but Harry is so much fun it's a non brainer 😊
I couldn't put Ash Princess down, but couldn't get the third in paperback until next week so waited for book too so I can binge them back to back.... right after I binge read a Vow so Bold and Deadly since it finally showed up. Man I hope my family doesn't expect me to interact with them for a few days. 🤣🤣
I picked up All the Stars and Teeth and still haven't gotten to it yet but it sounds really good! Ash Princess was great, I still need to finish books 2 and 3 but really enjoyed the 1st one and agree on it being a quick read.
All the Stars and Teeth sounds interesting. I'm predominantly NOT a YA reader but if this is even half as good as it sounds I'm hopeful I'll like it. Thanks for the recommendation.❤️
Have you read any of Robert Howard’s work? I think he might fit nicely in a list like this due to most of his work being meant to be published in magazines
The Shadows Between Us sounds fun, lol. If you want fast paced, though, The Dragon Factory, or maybe Wakiagaru. But the Dragon Factory is not fantasy. It's a thriller, but it's got viruses and super soldiers, serial killers and all kinds of crazy wacky stuff.
I've heard a lot of people say that Storm Front isn't great compared to the rest of the series, which kind of puts me off trying it, even though I do want to read Dresden Files eventually.
Start at book 3 grave peril. Circle back to the first two books later if you want. He generally gives intros to all the characters at the beginning of every book to fill in people who jump in later in the series.
Harry does fall for someone in the first few books, but it's not like... a romance novel? these are more mysteries. Oh and I've been told there's a lot of "male gaze" when describing the female characters, but the books are written from Harry's perspective and he's a red blooded man, who at one point douses his pants in a pitcher of ice water to keep himself from doing stupid things. The female characters are strong and developed, and usually pretty badass.
Hey guys and gals in the comments. I don't really read but I thought I'd start in lockdown. I've started reading a book called "The blade itself'. I feel a little stupid as I've been writing notes in a book so I don't forget names. Is that weird? Cheers in advance!
@@blueberrygirl_reads4762 thank you! I'm half way through my book. I think I write down names mainly. I'm really it though so I might keep this up lol.
Here's a question, why does everyone on here show the same books? Isn't there other books besides just fantasy or science fiction? I'm starting to write my book blog again about the books I've read. Not saying I wouldn't try something different, I guess I just have different tastes. I still love watching your channel.
@@shailejanarain well said. I’d also add that Elliot also frequently highlights books that don’t have heaps of hype associated with them (eg Warriors of the Wild, All the Stars and Teeth, etc etc)

Elliot saying "this book is a cookie" while the cover hovers at her side with a very serious looking axe is powerful fantasy fan vibes
Loved describing a book like a cookie :p
Should definitely have Poison Study in Part 3! So fast paced!!
I love this series! Definitely recommend Mistborn era 2! They’re so much fun and I loved the humor in them
I'm just halfway through The Shadows Between Us and it IS absolutely ridiculous!
Its glorified fanfiction and I'm loving it. Lol
I agree 100%

The Dresden Files, Absolutely! Real page turners. And i think most Stephen King books and Harlan Coben books are fast paced.
Didn't think Harlan Coben did fantasy? 🤔
@@ZamWeazle He doesn't but he writes fast paced books.
Oh man, the way You talk about books.... i need to read everything. Especially the “cookie” one❤️😍
"Trash Princess" 😂😂
I really want to read Ash Princess. I actually love love triangles in books.
I loved the Maria v. Snyder poison study series. Fast paced, couldn't put it down. Maybe you can give it a try!

All of these seem very interesting, especially Foundryside and Ash Princess. I hope to get around to reading all of them at some point.
I read All the Stars and Teeth after you talked about it before! It was so fun and enjoyable!

"My fellow Village People are upset with me" sounds like what happens when you dislocate your shoulder doing the YMCA.
I laughed when she said that.

Thanks for the recommendations! I can understand your views of Foundryside, and I’m happy to hear the recommendation for Mistborn era 2 😁
Warrior of the wild was great. Read on your recommendation. Finished in a day. Perfect.
Much love

Dresden files just breeze through so fast.
Does Foundryside ends in a cliffhanger? I want to start reading it but I do not have the second book yet.
You’ll probably want the second one ready to go after the first! Idk if I’d call it a cliffhanger, but it definitely opens up for the sequel :)
Thanks! Now I'm gonna hunt for the second book. I don't usually start unfinished series but it just keeps on calling me 😆

Just read the shadows between us it was great 😀🤠
Your bookcase looks cool. I know I should recognise some of these books but I don't get the name.

Warrior of the wild was so fun, felt like being in a video game for some reason.

I think I may like Mistborn era 2 more than a lot of people!
And so loved the ash princess trilogy 🙂😍🤗
On book 2 of the poppy war series and its fast paced like book 1
Is there a romance in the Dresden files?
Harry does fall for someone in the first few books, but it's not like... a romance novel? these are more mysteries. The answer to your question is that Elliot primarily reads Fantasy or Sci Fi. And so does majority of her audience :)
