This organization has become a complete and utter embarrassment due to nothing more than sheer incompetence and ignorance. Front office refusing to change a dying philosophy, a bafflingly inability to identify and develop homegrown pitching (without trading it) and an unwillingness to take any serious risks with trades and free agent signings (despite continually being burnt by poor trades and free agent signings).
To add insult to injury, ownership has resulted to insulting the fan base for having expectations. Just about any Cardinal fan would be happy with a rebuild at this point. We'd just like some direction. Either mix things up or tear this thing down to the studs. New management is a necessity, the coaching staff needs a complete overhaul (Disco can stay) and any veteran with value or on expiring deal needs to be moved to help replenish the pitiful farm system.
"The Cardinals don't rebuild." Yeah, well we also don't win. Great video! You nailed it.

    1. Jordan Hicks was actually dealt, along with Paul DeJong, Toronto at the 23 trade deadline. Neither the Jay nor Cardinals signed him for 24.
    2. Tyler O'Neil is actually really, REALLY fast! He had health issues (knees being one) that made it a gamble for him running at top speed.
Other than that, yep. As a fan of this organization, I'm counting down the days until the Front Office is gutted and rebuilt into what it once was.

As a Cardinals fan, the problem I see is the ownership. They simply dont care. They dont care if the team finishes in last place because quite frankly, they are still going to make a profit. Cardinals fans will still show up, buy season tickets, and watch the games which will generate revenue for the team. Due to this, they are not urgent to fire Oli Marmol as well as the hitting coach because, as I said, they dont care. I also disagree with your solution to simply 'blow it up.' I understand the reason why you would think it would work but I dont think the players are the problem. I think Oli Marmol as well as the hitting coach should be fired. Not saying this would solve all the team's problems but it would at least be able to see whether or not a change of leadership can get the team back to being contenders.

I've been saying it for a little while... I think the death of Oscar Taveras in 2014 really changed the direction that the Cardinals were heading. If that never happens, I think they would have stayed the course they'd been on since around 2009.
What the Cards have been since firing Mike Shildt has been... not great. Albert Pujols' resurgence in '22 probably saved some less than stellar headlines, but the real turning point afterwards was the Tyler O'Neill debacle. This is an org that refuses to change their ways, stuck in a time from 13 years ago. And John Mozeliak went from being heralded as one of the better GMs in baseball to whatever this is.
They're a clown show right now, plain and simple. Sonny Gray saying he wanted to be a Cardinal was the first time I heard a player say that since Matt Holliday (when he resigned here in the '09 offseason). I was genuinely surprised.
The sooner things change for the Redbirds, the better. In my lifetime, there haven't been too many years of struggles. I've been spoiled rotten, but I'm tired of seeing the rot seep out.

Those two have always seemed to be mainstays in getting the most out of their players with a smaller budget. Now the Cards have fallen but I am sure they will rebound, at least I assume they eventually will which leaves Cleveland as probably the best low salary franchise in baseball with an excellent track record of developing talent. I am curious to see who Cleveland drafts with their first pick coming up.

I don’t mind the Garcia trade, he had been given the opportunity and really didn’t look like much when he was here. And 29 other teams passed on him, twice.
Arrozarena is upsetting though bc he was never given a chance, and in the limited chance he was given, he excelled. Definitely Mozaliaks worst move as a GM.
Edit*-bc I made my comment before finishing the video- I just want to point out im in no way a Marmol fan, but to say he pushed the security guard and act like he did it with some ill intent is a bit ridiculous- he got in his way when trying to challenge a play, which he wasn’t able to do bc said security obstruction, and then saved the man from falling down the stairs after being caught off balance.

Everyone that runs this team from the owners to Mo to Oli are completely arrogant and refuse to learn from their shortcomings. As a Cardinals fan it pains me to say this but I almost have to root for this team to keep losing so someone can eventually be fired. Never have I seen an organization with so little accountability

The Cardinals have made tons of bad decisions in the last years, but Garcia and Arozerena aren’t either of them. The Cardinals always have outfielders who go on a hot streak for a a year or two and then spend years trying to find themselves. No matter which outfielder they would’ve traded instead of Arozerena whether it would be O’Neil Nootbar Bader Carlson, all of them would’ve been painful to watch go on a streak for a different team. By all means fire the manager and the president, but those two trades are the least of the accusations.

If you think Marmol is bad you should have seen Gabe Kapler! Talk about some one all about himself that was Kapler as Giants manager. Giants are still feeling the Kapler effect. Giants have the most swings and miss of any team in baseball. Looks like the Cards are following suit, swing and miss, bad defense, suspect pitching, terrible manager. Sorry St. Louis.

Life long Cardinal fan here. You hit the nail on the head the cardinals have been riding on the coattails of the past for the last 10+ seasons. The 2022 season was an outlier and one that I will remember fondly for the rest of my life. Other than that it’s been rather bleak with no real chance to go deep into the postseason other than the 2013 season. You can blame the payers for not preforming and the manager for sure. However the cardinals GM and owner are at top of the blame pile. Mo inherited a great franchise that Walt Jocketty left behind for him and slowly butchered it.

Let me point out a few things, Adolis Garcia was so bad his first year with the Rangers that they released him only resigning him after he changed his approach. Marcell Ozuna was hurt and playing at maybe 2/3 of his previous and current abilities with very little signs of improvement while he was a Cardinal (let’s not even get into his horrendous off field events). Tyler O’Neil plays good when he is not hurt however it feels like he is out on the IL more than he is on active. For many years the Cardinals were the only team that would take a chance on O’Neil because his weight building stature is very susceptible to strains. He may be playing good right now but we are only 25% into the season, give it time, he will be on the IL soon.

Don't throw in the towel Cardinal fans. The aging rotation may be at the heart of the problem, but there are a boatload of good young arms in the minors t hat are a year or two away. I believe you will see Tim Hence and Tekoah Roby by the end of this season. Likely get Cooper Hjerpe and Gordon Graceffo in 2025 and you still have Max Rajcic, Michael McGreevy, Sem Robberse, Adam Kloffenstein, Ian Bedell and Brycen Mautz as starters in the minors. And it looks like Zack Showalter could become a force out of the pen. Not sayin these guys are the answer, because you just never know how they will perform in the majors. But, they potential is there to have a starting rotation and backend of the bullpen all in the age range of 23-25. If they do pan out ... could we be looking at another 90s Braves-type of team? I do agree Marmol will have to go before tat can happen ... but as a Mets fan, I will give the Cards way more benefit of the doubt than my team ... LOL

The Cardinals are my team, and they're in about the worst shape I've ever seen. They need to completely clean house from the front office down to the manager. The current front office philosophy is dated, and it's clear the team has lost its ability to draft, retain, develop, and/or sign/trade for the talent required to compete for a championship. I wouldn't mind watching the team have a losing record if it was rebuilding in a new direction. Not this. This team is dead. Lifeless. Boring. I've been to a ton of games over the last 4 seasons, and I'm not going to be going down to the ballpark much to watch this. Especially not with the attitude of the front office about the state of the team. Complete denial and constantly trying to blue sky the situation to the fans. Enough is enough. It's a sad time for Cardinals baseball.

Just noticed former Cardinal Edmundo Sosa is killing it with Philadelphia, 0.946 OPS, granted only 46 AB’s, but still, Cards traded him in 2022. The Phillies may be better than LAD and Atlanta. We know about Wheeler and Nola, but they have this guy Suarez 8-0 1.37 ERA. Phillies are darn good!

Three thoughts i have real quick about this team.
    1. Jordan Walker isnt thriving because they forced him to play the outfield when he has never in his life played out there and it showed last year. When you go from a gold glove caliber player is playing horrible defense on a position theyre not used to, they will probably be helf back mentally at the plate.
    2. Marmol sucks
    3. Marmol sucks.

The cardinals accomplished their off-season goals of "pitching, pitching, pitching" no1 here really likes the front office. I wouldn't say the tyler O'Neil trade was that bad because we really didn't need him. It just sucks were ranked like 29 or 30th in offense so far. It's climbing but slowly. Next off season their gonna talk about offense instead of pitching, then the pitching going to probably decline. Just sucks really. Stl has fans/attendance rivaling NYY and LA but can't seem to be them. They obviously spend nowhere near what they spend on payroll, but still.
