Basically this whole video was to say have good risk mgmt.
risk 0.25% to 0.50% on each trade and take only trades that follow your plan ! Also would suggest not risking more then 2.5% overall in a day
for the non aggressive account i agree! but for the aggressive account youre gonna have to double your risk from there to 1.5% risk and max daily loss just below their daily limit just in case.because youre trying to get a 20% objective not 10% like the non aggressive accounts

Hi, that news release part kinda scares me. My trading style is more on scalping so I don't have much time to check the news, what if I'm scalping or currently trading then the news suddenly comes out and we're unaware coz we're busy scalping? That news release part makes me hesitant to join FTMO, is there any way to get around it? Would an aggressive type of account get around that? You also said, even if a trade is negative but it is still floating or not yet closed coz there's a chance it will go our way, is it considered a loss, too, even if it's still floating?

if you ask me, you need to read the terms & conditions more than and make sure u understand before taking this challenge. you need to have a trading strategy built around the FTMO rules or you lose the money way fast than you preempted

The only problem I have is that I’m a swing trader, I expect some of my trades to work out in a week or sometimes longer, will I be penalized or fail if I’m under the daily loss requirements but not above the profit target for the week or month ? Thankyou for any replys!
risk less and you should be fine. dont risk more than 2% a trade and trade less that 6 instruments. you should be fine. its way easier to day trade and know where youre at. im doing the free trial now to get used to CFD indices and commodities

What if I put tp and sl on my order (order before news few hours) , but when those news(non farm,FOMC) make my oreder hit tp OR SL in that 2min before and after news. Is that violate the rules?
That would still count as a violation as SL or TP or any kind of pending order essentially just close or open positions.

I have a question regarding restrictions of 2 minutes before and after news trading. If I opened an active trade for example 2 hours before the news event, will I have to close my trade before the news occurs? Or can I leave it open since I opened the trade long before the news happened?

Even with risk management it is diffixcult, I started the challenge and immeadiatly lost 1.2% of my bankroll, currently I am back up to my initial bankroll with a loss of 6k / 8k.

If you mean the Free Trial, it does not count towards the actual Evalutation Process. If you want to apply for funding, you will have to start the real Challenge.

1. If a funded trader violates a rule after he had possibly increased the account on profit before the end of the month, will he be eligible for a profit split even though he loses the account halfway on profit..
2. what happens to the little amount of traders profit he leaves as a buffer or as a means of compounding should he finally violate a rule that strips him off the responsibility of the account. Will ftmo take away the earn profit strategically left on the account as a buffer or it ll be given back to the trader for his sendoff party..?

For example, I have an open position and an event came out, the event went to my opposite direction and hit my SL in a matter of 1 minute or less since it is volatile, in that case the position is closed and the rule is - not to close or open a position 2 mins before or after the news so is that counted as account violation?

If I understand your question correctly and feel free to correct me, you ask how we calculate the Max Daily Loss and its relation with the free margin. Well, we are calculating it from your daily equity. This rule can also be called “trader’s daily stop-loss”. According to our rules, this is set as 5% (10% in case of an Aggressive version) from the initial account balance. The rule says that at any moment of the day (CE(S)T - Central European Summer Time), the result of all closed positions in sum with the currently open floating P/Ls (profits/losses) must not hit the determined daily loss limit. The counting formula:
Current daily loss = results of closed positions of this day + result of open positions.
We do not have any specific trading rules about your free margin.

I will be in touch soon my leaders. I have laptop and access to unlimited Wi-Fi. My interest for trading started in 2017 but I did not have capital and I was not coping with my undergraduate degree. I have been doing demo accounts since then, I would make a lot of fake money but because I am greedy and wanted to experiment I would incur one or two big losses and blow my entire account. I am certain I can become one of your best traders within few months given that I follow all the rules (eg setting targets, closing portion of the profits along the way, never trade without a stop loss etc). Hi, wanna ask you, every losses are counting together? even all 3 trades from 3 days trading will close in profit..? if 1st day trade will drop to -250$, but make profit 120, then no trade to the end of day.. 2nd day.. drop -180, but again closed in profit 318.. , 3rd day , drop -398, but profit 56.. so Matrix will show me, total loss -825..? and profit.. 494..?$ So then rest of mount.. I should risk only 175$ (including risk management), when I am then breaking rule of 1%.. per each trade..? to trade much lower Lot sizes..??

Please is it allowed to sign up two different Ftmo accounts with the same name at the same time? Kindly take note that I'm not referring to paying for two different challenges at the same time.
I'm referring specifically to going to the Ftmo website as a total beginner and sign up for one Ftmo account and then inside that account, you pay for a challenge. And then immediately sign up for a second account and pay for a second challenge inside the second account.

We are talking here about two different topics. First, you will choose login credentials to our FTMO Client Area (FTMO internal interface for managing FTMO accounts and much more). Then you have login credentials to each different FTMO Accounts (a trading account with specific allocation) and FTMO accounts (FTMO Challenge, Verification and Free Trial accounts). Therefore, traders have only one login to our Client Area and multiple logins to FTMO accounts in most cases.

what does max loss: $4,000 mean in the metrix ?, is this the most you can lose in the account in total losses added together, or does it mean its the most you can dip below your starting capital? for example a $100,000 account going down to $96,000 ?

We do believe that you probably meant 10 000USD Max Loss on 100 000USD account. This means that you cannot let your capital go down to more than 5000 USD loss (95 000 USD > ...) Otherwise that would be violation of our Trading Objective, and we would have to terminate our funding partnership.
If you meant Max Daily Loss: For example, in a case of the FTMO Challenge with the initial account balance of €40000, the Max Daily Loss limit is €2000. If you happen to lose €1000 in your closed trades, your account must not decline more than €1000 this day. It must also not go -€1000 in your open floating losses. The limit is inclusive of commissions and swaps. Vice versa, if you profit €2000 in one day, then you can afford to lose €4000, but not more than that. Once again, be reminded that your Maximum Daily Loss counts your open trades as well. For example, if in one day, you have closed trades with a loss of €1000 and then you open a new trade that goes into a floating loss of some -€1200 but ends up positive in the end, unfortunately, it is already too late. In one moment, your daily loss was -€2200 on the equity, which is more than the permitted loss of €2000.

^ If its a 10k max loss then why is a dip of 5k on the capital the most you can have?

Hi, what about limit orders? I am doing the challenge and I placed a limit before a new release but I noticed it triggered 2:01 minutes after the release, I guess you restrict limits to be triggered during those 2 minutes before and after, so theoretically I dindt violate the rules, did I?

If your order got executed 2:01 after the news release, it would not be a breach even if the rule was applicable on your Challenge (which it is not as per the explanation below). We do not have restrictions built into our system that would restrict executions during this window so it is your responsibility not to have any executions during this time. All prohibitive news are listed in our Economic calendar and we also send email notifications to all our FTMO Traders day ahead to make them aware of the upcoming news.
Please note that the rule that you are not allowed to execute any trades on any instrument that is affected by some of the high impact news (which are listed in the blue background in our economic calendar) within the 2 minutes prior to and 2 minutes after the news release does not apply to Challenges and Verifications. @@user-dh7hn9hm8i No its not mate. I emailed F.T.M.O to check this as soon as I was funded. Even if that position was open for days you would violate your account if your stop loss or take profit was hit. This is because a stop loss or take profit is still opening or closing a position.

If a trader has multiple accounts does FTMO have any trade copy utility to run same trade in multiple accounts.
We do not provide any software that can connect your accounts, but you can choose to merge your accounts together - so if you have 3 accounts with 100 000 USD each, you can merge them into one account with 300 000 USD.

If you pass 10k Challenge to Verification and then pass the Verification, we will give you a 10k FTMO account to manage. This account can slowly be scaled up as per our Scaling Plan: ftmo.com/en/scaling-plan/, but if you wish to increase your capital faster, you need to purchase another Challenge.

On the FTMO Account, we require you to close your positions just before the markets close for the weekend or if the rollover (market break) is longer than 2 hours. In other words, to be flat on Friday night CE(S)T - Central European (Summer) Time. Our FTMO Traders must respect the market timings. If there is an overnight rollover of up to two hours on any instrument, it is permitted to keep your positions open; i.e. you don’t need to close your trades just because of this overnight rollover. Every asset class and its respective instruments might have different trading hours that have to be adhered to.

Let’s say I have a 40k account and I win 2k can I lose 4K the same day or if I lose the 2k I violate the daily loss?
And if on the same account another day I have a total gain of 10k and I lose 2k will it count as a violation of daily loss even if it is profits I lost?

Our system records balance of your account at midnight and compares your account equity throughout the day with the midnight balance. If at any point throughout the day your account equity decreases drops under the midnight balance - Max Daily Loss, your account has breached the Max Daily Loss.
Example - You had running profitable trades through the midnight and your midnight equity was 98k but your midnight ballance was at 97k. You would breach the account if the account equity dropped under 92k (assuming normal risk setup strategy)

Can I swing on my free trial account
Hi Ftmo, can you clarify better if the 10% max. drawdown is a trailing drawdown (that follows the max. equity ever achieved) or if it remains static (always 10% bellow 100K, therefore at 90k, in a 100k account, for instance)? Thank you!

Max Loss is always the same, at 90% of the account initial capital (on normal risk strategy). On $100k account, you breach the Max Loss if your equity at any point drops under 90k. You can read more at ftmo.com/en/#maximum-loss

If you are a beginner and you Just passed the challenges, just take smaller risk after.... If you passed the challenges with 2% or 3% risk by trade, then you must take 1% by trade for the whole month... That's was my strategy at the begging.. trading is job... Protect your job...

ONE BIG QUESTION. After passing the chalenge the funded account is with real money or fictitous money(fake money demo account) cause I have seen written everywhere that. And if it is funded with fictitous money how the profit will be split. How you can split fake profits and what is the source of those? Seems to sound like a scam well presented for a ponzi scheme. All our accounts provided by FTMO are simulated/demo accounts. Even in the case of an FTMO Account, the FTMO Trader has access only to a simulated demo account with fictitious capital, i.e. there is no trading with real funds. Therefore, the Trader never gains access to a real "live account" or "margin account" etc. However, the FTMO Trader will receive a real financial reward for his trading on the FTMO Account, as long as his trading is profitable and there is no violation of the contractual conditions. The amount of this reward depends on the success of the trades executed through the FTMO Account.
By virtue of the FTMO Account Agreement, the FTMO Trader agrees that his trading data may be used by FTMO for trading on its own account. Therefore, FTMO can actually profit from the simulated trading performed by FTMO Traders.
We only add that the FTMO Trader always receives its contractual remuneration, regardless of whether or not FTMO has decided to use the trade data in its live trading.
