      it won't be the first time, as many classical ensembles play with As below 440, often as low as 422...

      Penny Arcade For me it was the first time I have heard this particular Symphony at 432 Hz. I didn't say that Symphony No 40 in G minor was never played at 432 Hz. Two words, formal semantics...

      Depuis Hitler, les instruments de musique ont été réglés en 440 Hz, ce qui est disharmonique. Nous avons de plus en plus de musiciens au courant qui changent les données et mettent en 432 Hz, harmonique.

    A little research revealed that Mozart actually preferred A422, and that the current A440 reflects a compromise between 18th century composers and 19th century wind instruments. As the brass instruments evolved, the trend was toward brilliance-- so much so that it began to strain singer's voices. Verdi insisted on A432 for his performances but there was still enormous variation from country to country. A London conference decided on A440 in 1939 because the tone was to be electronically generated for consistency in BBC broadcasts. I could find no definitive reference to a Nazi or Rockefeller Foundation plot to unsettle the masses. There are many other esoteric reasons to use A432, if the numerical considerations are important to you, then certainly there is more justification for A432 than A440. It is "warmer" and that should be considered in therapeutic settings.

      Finally an intelligent comment in this sea of musical ignorance. Welcome to RUclips where the uneducated mass in abundance. Where the attention span is akin to a lightning bolt. Where people that want to learn shouldn't be. Why am I here? (Its entertaining.)

      No, the thing is that 440 is somewhat sharper. To my ear 432 is somehow more settled if I can call it this way... I don't know and don't have words to express how it sounds to my ear in comparison - "settled" would be the best word to describe. 440 is sharper, which is particularly audible on some short passages from chord to chord throughout the piece as well as overall... hmmm... Not that it is a critical difference whatsoever, but sounds more stable if I can put it this way... As if the sonorities are in their places and do not jump out... I don't know... Even 432 sine wave sounds more settled in comparison to 440 sine wave. Weird. However, A422 is an interesting option, which, if ever, I haven't consciously experienced yet, and am going to discover it immediately. Plus, I am curious, how back then were they able to establish/tune to pure 440 or 432 or 422 or whatever? Cheers

      Musician here🙋🏻‍♀️i began taking lessons in 1991 tuned to 440. I became chronically ill in 2019, and in early 2023 I discovered Solfeggio frequencies. I’ve tested it on myself: playing a piece in 440 and switching to 444 or 417 (A). There’s no comparison for me; my joint’s are able to play the same difficult music much longer and more relaxedly than 440 which makes my joints stiffer.
      31 years experience 440
      Almost 1 year experience 444/417, i much prefer😅

    • @AnnBearForFreedom
      @AnnBearForFreedom 9 лет назад +1

      ztarrfect Depends on how this video was created. If the musicians played the original at 432, it is not slower . If the original was played at 440, but the recording itself was adjusted to 432, then yes, it is probably slower. But like you point out, its only 8 hz so its not a lot slower if it is any slower. Still...its good to hear the pitches the way the composer intended them to sound.

    The title and most of these comments are incorrect and misleading since the A in this audio is closest to 420-421 Hz. The supposed “more natural” quality is simply a preference toward lower tuning in general; there isn’t anything special about 432 Hz in particular.

      lasarousi this is the way mozart wrote all of his pieces as during his time period all instruments were tuned to 432hz as opposed to the 440hz. of todays music. mozart naturally tuned his instruments to 432hz. It is said that if he were to hear some of his pieces today in 440hz. might not recognize them until the major themes are played.. fantasy in F comes to mind. it's almost completely different in 432hz. i'm sure he'd recognize this piece in 440hz; but it does sound quite odd after listening to it in the natural form of 432.

    The switch hundreds of years ago to 440 Hz was to create as much disharmony as possible so we could no longer experience our god self even when going to the power of music...... Who would do that?

      Kiki, you're talking to people that don't know anything much about music. They talk about pitch/frequency after your comment is about the speed its played at. I noticed the same. Its rushed and hurried as if they want to get done so they can go get something to eat. Terrible rendition. If you want to show an example at least show something that is played reasonably well. This is not. Thankfully there are many examples of fine performances of Mozart symphonies. Regarding the pitch, to me it seems more relaxed. Its an eerie feeling to think you may have been listening to music tuned at the wrong frequency for decades.
      The thing is a tone of 432 hz is measured by our time scale but that is a recent determination. Do you think they measured things in seconds a thousand years ago? It was impossible. No clock had been made that measured anything close to seconds. (How did they set appointments?!) So that is a thing to keep in mind - we could have set 50 seconds to a minute or a 100. 100 would seem to have been a more logical division of a minute with 100 minutes in an hour. Sort of a metric way of keeping track of time. Anyway, we set it at 60. But it could have been anything.
      If it sounds better at 432 (and most people seem to think it does) go for it. But all that money you spent on your 440 tuned music collection may have been wasted!

    Did mozart tune his instruments to A=432 and if so how did they really know back then what 432hz was?

    • @pablosorbara2280
      @pablosorbara2280 9 лет назад +1

      Craigson Burg In Mozart's time there was no standard A... so they couldn't know what they were tuning at... every instrument and every orchestra was tuned a little bit different in every performance. Later the tuning fork was popularized and A 440 became standard...

    • @GintokiPianist
      @GintokiPianist 9 лет назад +2

      Craigson Burg just abit of background, The tuning fork was invented by John Shore in 1711 and it had a pitch of A423.5 where they were available it would have likely been used for a standard mozart aparently used A421, there is quite an
      in depth history of different pitch uses over history

    I Know Mozart wrote concertos for nearly all major instruments (Piano, Violin, Horn, Oboe, Bassoon, Viola.)
    But did he write any music specifically for Cello? If so, I am unable to find it.
    Will someone else confirm this?

    432hz son solo 8hz de diferencia con el La patron (440hz) la diferencia es tan minima (menos de 1/8 de tono) que muy apenas se distingue.... a lo sumo se percibe la sonoridad como algo opaca... personalmente prefiero 440... suena mas "brillante" mas ricos los bajos y los agudos....

      +robin marthin esta version si es que esta a 432 hz suena muy organica, estas acostumbrado a 440 hz, que de tanto escucharla y con buen reproductor de sonido, es mas artificial, esto la verdad suena mas organica, se parece mucho al fluir del agua, estoy seguro que los grandes maestros aprovarian este sonido

    • @miguelj296
      @miguelj296 8 лет назад +1

      +robin marthin practicamente la diferencia es un semitono, pero si te fijas bien puede encontrar la diferencia, la cual es muy notable, cuando escuchas la musica bien alta en 440 hz pareceria que estuvieran taladrando tu oido, y en esta fecuencia es mucho mas soportable

      ok, respeto tu opinión, pero recuerda que eres un músico de un instrumento de cuerda percutida, en las cuerdas frotadas donde hay un puente la forma en que el sonido viaja a través del puente hacia el alma varia dependiendo de las cuerdas que se tengan, la afinación de las mismas y la frecuencia en la que estén afinadas, soy músico, toco el contrabajo y tenido el privilegio de tocar la afinación vienes que es la-re-fa-la ascendiendo, el modo en que ellas interactuan y hacen que instrumento resuene diferente. Te insto a experimentar dos cosas: a buscar algún contrabajista que pueda tocar afinación vienes y segundo, que escuches la música bien alto las dos versiones y luego me dices cual de las dos te hizo menos daño al oído o te molesto menos. mi facebook es mi nombre, miguel javier, me puedes buscar y continuamos charlando.

    • @rubenmartin4172
      @rubenmartin4172 8 лет назад

      De todos modos, es un campo interesante para experimentar ya que 432 es un número muy interesante y además está muy próximo a 440

    Yo creo que sencillamente no suena mejor, sino que suena diferente. Incluso si le bajaras un par de tonos sonaria igual de bien. Hay placas de sonido en donde desde el panel de control de la pc podes cambiar hasta una octava por encima o por abajo de todo lo que se reproduce.
