@@riley.p.p is the consistence I've ever seen in the world and the world has a a lot more to say about about it and how you feel about the world and how you feel about the world of the day
I was in the depths of procrastination and my grades in school got worse, never did any excercise, and this week I just said to myself, you have to change now or you'll never will. Now I managed to get up at 6, run for 20 minutes, have a cold shower and eat breakfast every day this whole week, made a plan and scheduled every part of my day, started reading again, started using habitica, and I'm really so much happier now and it's just been a week. Thanks for all the blog posts/videos, they really gave me the motivation to actually make that choice.
Whoops, looks like my editing program had a rendering hiccup that I didn't catch near the end of the video. If you didn't catch it , basically it just said next week I'll be putting out a video on my exact morning routine :)
I think Henry Cavill actually went around NYC wearing glasses around the time Man of Steel came out, and not many people recognized him either. It's a surprisingly good disguise!
TL;DW 1. Don't snooze 2. Start small + Quantif using an app 3. Water, meditate, cardio exercise and breakfast, leave out email, social media, im etc. 4. Evening Routine
Your bedtime routine is a very important step to your morning routine. Tip 1: Commit to a regular bedtime every night and make sure you commit to it. Tip 2: Prepare everything you need for the morning. Eg: Clothes, Shoes, Bag, Breakfast anything you need to do/find in the morning. So you don't have to rush around looking for your socks.... Tip 3: Take a notepad/pen ti bed with you. Write down atleast 5 items that want to get done tomorrow. Prioritize them from1 to 5. Now circle the first 3 items you wrote and only focus on them for tomorrow. Tip 4: Once you are ready to choose your eyes for sleepy time, go on RUclips and choose video from the (subliminal messages) list. I prefer the rain sound. Choose the messaging that will help you for where you are right now and commit to it for 7 straight nights. This week im focusing on (enjoy working hard). Tip 5: As you close your eyes, listening to the subliminal sounds, imagine walking up to the alarm tomorrow morning feeling energetic and ready to go. Imagine getting out of bed straight away (no hitting the sleep button). And visualize yourself going through the morning routine. Imagine yourself getting out of bed, standing up, walking to the coffee machine, going to the bathroom. You get the picture. Visualize yourself doing everything you are going to do. All the way until you leave the house or start working on your goals. If you do this for atleast 7 days straight, you will be blown away how easy your morning routines will become.
The beginning is hilarious! I love my mornings quiet, when I have time I meditate for about 10 minutes and watch music videos of my favorite artists. The this you said about social media in the morning is true, you dont want to load your brain with unimportant information and negativity, it will affect the rest of the day
For 2 days now I am watching your videos. I am extracting the most useful techniques, information and tips that will help me build my own learning and study way, so i can start my time at the college with a new style of learning! Thanks for being an awesome mentor. Arigato!
This video couldn't have come at a better time. I'm under a lot of stress right now because my high school graduation exams are coming up. I've strayed a lot from my usual morning routine and it's thrown me off my productive balance. Thank you Thomas. :)
My routine is I wake up at 8 am (at this point I am incapable of reading or doing any cognitive actions) turn off the alarm and go back to sleep. Then I wake up again 1 pm. Usually I don't remember waking up to turn off the alarm.
Thomas, I'm still doing that bloody cold shower challenge you set us and it's awful!! But I wake up every morning and - very perversely - kind of look forward to proving to myself that I have more discipline than I make myself believe :)
Aloha Thomas. I am a sleep technologist, been studying sleep medicine (listening to people's morning/night habits) for nearly 14 years, in hopes of getting my Phd in sleep. I can tell you that your habits truly make or break your health, which correlates to your success in life as you agree. I appreciate your content. I'm all about tweaking my own habits. One thing I highly suggest is to invest in a light therapy box to be by your bedside table. When you get up, turn it on. It sets your circadian rythm. I have it on for at least 15 minutes while I meditate in bed and when I write at least one gratitude sentence in my journal. I also will do a five minute stretching yoga near my bed in the morning (I have a yoga mat layed out near my bed that's permanently there). Yes, OCD routine but to its what works for me and for my patients as they too have incorporated my routine. Using red light therapy is one that I'm incorporating in my routine as well. Have you tried it? Much health benefits. Keep up your work as you inspire me to try new things as well. Mahalo.
I am definitely going to give morning routines a try. A lot of times I wake up 3-4 times before the day breaks. Funny thing is that I check my mail each time I wake up. I just started working out daily 3 days ago but I think I will incorporate waking up earlier, meditating, working out, and then reading a book. Thanks Thomas.
I really love how you're explaining it all simply and nicely, with humour even ! You're sharing your experience, not judging your audience, or pushing it on us. You made me wanna try something different for my morning, but in a very " chill, no pressure, you're doing this for you " way, and that's awesome !
Can you make a video on how to stop loosing matching socks? This is a serious issue for me because I lose many hours of my day looking for matching black socks.
Easy solution - never put your socks anywhere other than your hamper when you take them off, and always check the washer/dryer for missing socks. People lose socks because they take them off and throw them all over the place.
This man is a college students super hero. I am a junior in college and I have been struggling with sticking to a routine, and now I know it's only cause I'm trying to do everything at once. I need to start with small changes and build up...why didn't I think of that lol!!! Thanks for sharing Tom your the best

I immediately thought "this guy is a douche*" when he said his bars were 150% vegan. (* not the actual word I thought of, but translating for the benefit of Americans.)
I had to watch this video 5 times to realize that Chadwick Zimmerman is our very own Thomas, and also to let it sink in that this is ACTUALLY a morning and not just a spoof how perfect routines seem to float around youtube. Once a teacher of mine said, "do you know what you and Bill Gates have in common"? he said, "you both have 24 hours in a day, he chooses to do what he does aka making millions and I find a million ways to laze around and procrastinate. Truly having a constructive routine sets the tone of the day.
This is a great thing I just woke up to! I just woke myself up early to start myself on a new wake-up routine because I'm tired of lolligagging so hard and squandering time in the morning when I try and get ready. Viola! This video popped up on my recommended! haha. Also, my friend and I had the habit-making conversation a few weeks ago and I told her 21 days, so I'm glad I can reference this video and tell her 66 days. Maybe the first three weeks is the hardest part mentally? Either way, thanks for your informative videos as always. They never claim to be overly enriching based on promises of a super me(like how I've seen on Quora or other blogger videos), but they show me how I can step up my game and thus closer to my goals.
There's the one on changing test answers. My initial position is still better than the opposite (not changing answers), but I made an updated video called "Exam Brain Hack" that updated the answer with a more nuance position. But that was because of Justin Couchman's research on confidence tracking, which hadn't been done yet when I made the original video. Otherwise, I can't think of any videos I straight-up disagree with. There are certainly things I've talked about that I don't do anymore myself (like using Beeminder to wake up), but I still think they're useful since everyone is going to use different techniques at different stages in their lives.
Thanks for responding :) btw I used the Sleepytime website it really helped alot this morning - got up at 9am on the dot, WOW. Normally i wake up around 12 on the weekends but now i think i'm gonna change that! so, thanks. :)
I push snooze on my alarm clock. The dreams I have after being woken up can be very interesting and sometimes come with answers to problems. so I wouldn't stop my snooze routine. I do use an alarm clock that starts from a low tone and then gets louder so it doesn't snap me out of my sleep. Using that seems to have lessened my need to sleep longer in the morning, Eventually resetting my internal clock by three hours. Great video :)
Hi Thomas! First of all this intro made me laugh so hard. This is my second favourite video with I dont feel like it is additude for amateurs. I have 2 suggestions for video topics: 1. How to meditate!!! There are so many ways of which most of them are boring. Which model do you use? 2. How to make a habit of audible? I tried it and I just can make it a habbit.
Meditation is actually VERY boring for me, but I still do it in order to improve my ability to focus. I'll make a video eventually, but in short I just meditate for 5 minutes, breathe slowly, and try to only focus on my breath. As for making a habit of listening to audiobooks - I think once you find a book that truly draws you in, you won't have a hard time making it a habit. But you could also try adopting a complementary habit, like going for a walk every day.
That would be awesome! I'll try it again this summer. At last I can listen for 7$ whole year if I come back. :P Thank you for your answer! Keep making us kick asses! :D
This is the first video I've watched from the channel. I thought he was dead serious at the beginning about waking up at 3am and meditating for 6 hours. I was taking notes and everything! 🤣
My morning routine I want to have is get up at 5am, 30mins exercise, have breakfast, get ready for work, do my dishes, free time for reading, writing, tv etc until 7am when I leave for work. I stick to this for a while but always get derailed when I get multiple migraines in a row or catch a cold.
It's not just you - looks like Premiere had a rendering hiccup that I didn't catch. I don't think it's bad enough to pull the video down - basically it just said next week I'll be putting out a video on my exact morning routine :)
You're the one that suggested I try doing cold showers! Let me tell you, I don't miss warm showers tbh! Also what is the app called? You said it like it's super easy to spell or look up, sorry haha great video man keep up the good work!
during the small sad period of my life, thanks to the help of your sincere and awesome videos, I was able to get my mind back together!!! Thank you for being so real Thomas!!!!
step 1 Acknowledge that your morning routine doesn't have to fit anyone else's routine. If you wake up at 5 pm because you're on night shift, fine. If you prefer to sort your mail when you wake up then reheat last nights left overs for munchies, that's fine too. Step 2 Do what comes naturally to you when you wake up. Everyone has a baseline. Just pick around until you find what comes most naturally to you, If you like waking up 15 minutes before you head out to your day, that's your thing. Don't let anyone tell you that's wrong. Step 3 repeat these morning activities like you probably already have until you feel like you've accomplished a routine. The ugly truth is, waking up at the butt crack of dawn and forcing yourself to do stuff you hate isn't the secret to success. The secret is not giving up on your goals no matter how much you fail. If your goals aren't making you happy and eager to pursue them, reassess your goals.
Are you suggesting that struggling against our natural inclinations is what throws us off, and that if we find what is natural and do it mindfully then we are more likely to have a good morning?
While I don't get the whole morning routine hype (especially for people who aren't morning people, no routine is going to make them so) I'm really hoping a positive thing to come out of it will be younger people eating breakfast. When I was younger it was 'cool' not to eat anything until 12-1pm, at lunch time, and it was only when I actually started introducing breakfast did I realise how important it was to helping me learn and also regulating my weight in that difficult newly-pubescent phase. Eating breakfast is cool, kids!! 🍳🍳
Another habit app that works (at least for me and some friends) is "Fabulous" it has inspirational messages, letters, challenges, alarms, ... but most importantly it has customisable "rituals", a collection of habits. (Morning routine, Afternoon routine, Evening routine, are the basic ones, and you can delete them or add new ones as you like) It looks good, it is colourful, so it appeals to the eye and prevents quick boredom. :)
Thomas Frank hey Thomas I've a question I'm a 11th grade highschooler from India and I don't actually have any time for a long morning routine, after my 6.5hr long PCM classes and 6 hours of self study so...is it necessary to have a long morning routine or a short routine of 1 hour is okay? if yes, what do you suggest I should fit in that short time
Ek 01 I used to swim for 45mins in the morning rather than running. I used to feel energetic the whole day. Also In swimming, there are lesser chances of injuries.
Quinty M yeah that's failure, give yourself more quality sleep, as soon as you wake make your very first thought be about meditating or getting in a cold shower and go straight into it
Thomas Frank The last month or two I've been getting a lot of quality sleep but last night I was out late and not feeling great today. Do you have any tips to make the most of off days like this/ to re sync your sleep schedule?
I am watching this video in the obvious wants of starting a morning routine. I found myself throughout the video asking the question if a daily routine as time passes can leave room for complacency in my life. I want to use a morning routine to get me out of my bad habit of chronic procrastination but I feel that i will become complacent as I do the routine.
I must say I'm a BIG FAN to your channel ❤ this is super great speaking about our daily issues in a funny / scientific way & the whole quoting thing is AMAZING . you keep hitting imp topics every time . I'm a med school student & somehow I feel related to your videos ... keep up !!!
I used to hit the snooze button for 2 hours, then get up at 7 and run out of the door by 7:15 to get to school. I'd be tired all day and grumpy. Now my alarm goes off at 6:35, I don't hit snooze and I have my routine. I'm so much more energized and happy all day.
I used to put my phone in a glass on the sink counter (which makes it louder). But that habit in Habitica is actually a NEGATIVE habit that will hurt my character if I do it. I realized a while ago that constantly listening to podcasts - while getting dressed, driving, showering, etc - was eating up all the quiet time in my life. And when I had no quiet time, I stopped thinking clearly - there was no time to do it. So I put that there to encourage myself to simply shower in silence.
This lama with the thug life glasses and the music reminds me so much of 21 jump street the scene with the different phases of the drug kid who films himself... does someone know what I'm talking about? :D
wow your face looks completely different than before, you look much fresher than in your previous videos, I like it! is it because of the vegan bars? jk
I really like the tweaks you made to the video's style in comparison to the rest of your videos. :) I love your channel! It has helped me to be more organized in my life and to create habits that will help me in the near future. Keep up with the hard your Thomas!
"Dank memes" 😂 On a more serious note, Thomas, I really enjoyed the humorous intro because well, duh, it was funny, and because since I found it funny/attention-grabbing, I found it easier to keep watching, which is sometimes difficult when I'm watching videos related to productivity or school. So I would love to see more of that technique in future videos! :)
Why should I keep getting up early if I am still making no money and experiencing no fruition? I am enduring too much complex suffering all at once including: bereavement, undiagnosed diseases, deep cold bone pain throughout body, debt, loneliness, trauma , unproductiveness, estrangement, poverty, anti social behaviour, neglect, hostility, damage beyond repair, undeveloped even as an almost 30 yr old adult, ghosting, no fruition despite consistent discipline, fear and further. Please help me. I deserve better. Time is passing.
It's funny - your satire morning routine is close to mine! Wake up at 3:30, meditate and yoga (more like fifteen minutes total than six hours, though, lol), watch something motivating like your videos with bulletproof caffeine and a plant based breakfast (though I liked how the Tim Ferris/Clark Kent dude was a vegan protein bar creator who ate nada but animal products), read (study), and go for a run before 8 A.M. class. It's so true though - social media has no place in your day's start. Mornings when I get sucked in, I go full zombie mode for the rest've the day, all dopamine depleted 'n stuff. Thanks for making these videos! Love them!

Hey man I don't know if it happen just for me but there is a repetition or some kind of failure in min 6:34

Hey Thomas, how has your morning routine changed since this video?

ANTI V15T Habitica , coupled with a strong will power is definitely life - changing ;)
ANTI V15T be very wary of burning out, especially if you've taken it all on at once. Novelty very quickly wears off.
Your comment inspired me. Thank you and best of luck to you!

Nice work! Glad you decided to make a change - now keep it up!

Watching in 2AM here lmao (Almost because It's 1:53)
Yep it’s New Years and 2:53 I’m doing good in life.

Thomas Frank Mel Robins has some nice content on this topic, with her 5 second rule, how the brain works within that context.
Please fix it... OCD going cray
Excited for it 😍👍🏽
Can't be fixed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
despite that, I've noticed that the overall quality of your videos is really improving .. keep it up !

Hey Thomas just wanted to say that your videos always motivate me and make me strive to meet my goals. Keep up the great work!!
Watching this at night with a surity of not waking up next morning.

@Thomas Frank MAN your editing in this video is on point! loved it! the humor and everything!
I'm watching this while thinking I should go to sleep to wake up early. Am I the only one?
Your lighting is soooo good... honestly... great content by the way... thank you
I am spoused to wake up early but that one player keeps kicking my ass
Sadiq Basim omg best comment ever
is it Chadwick Zimmerman?
Is it David Goggins?

They never claim to be overly enriching based on promises of a super me(like how I've seen on Quora or other blogger videos), but they show me how I can step up my game and thus closer to my goals.
Seeing that you've been making content for 2 years now,
Is there any video that you made in the past that you don't agree with now?
btw 6:33 editiing mistake
I don't get the connection. ?
ooo... good question!
Thanks for responding :)
btw I used the Sleepytime website it really helped alot this morning - got up at 9am on the dot, WOW.
Consistently Useful Content! Fantastic Work
How did you know this vid would be so perfect for me right now??
Thanks for the consistent, useful, quality vids Thomas. u the man 👍
Thank you for your answer! Keep making us kick asses! :D
This is the first video I've watched from the channel. I thought he was dead serious at the beginning about waking up at 3am and meditating for 6 hours. I was taking notes and everything! 🤣
The front part was ridiculously hilarious. And I was wondering what kind of company name is that (?!)
The most hipster company name I could think of :P
Wow. The statement alone about alarm clocks is so powerful
I was soo close to clicking out of the video when I heard 6 hours of meditation😂😂😂
Omg Habitica is changing my life I love this thank you
FMA and Sailor Moon posters +100 cool points
My morning routine I want to have is get up at 5am, 30mins exercise, have breakfast, get ready for work, do my dishes, free time for reading, writing, tv etc until 7am when I leave for work. I stick to this for a while but always get derailed when I get multiple migraines in a row or catch a cold.
Great video! The skit was so perfect :)
P.S: There seems to be an audio skip at 6:34, it could just be me though...'
It's not just you - looks like Premiere had a rendering hiccup that I didn't catch. I don't think it's bad enough to pull the video down - basically it just said next week I'll be putting out a video on my exact morning routine :)
Oh man, I wasn't expecting a reply...Now I feel bad :( Still love your content though. Keep up the good work!
No worries!
Watching this right after I woke up. Gonna pause this and get my morning started.
You're the one that suggested I try doing cold showers! Let me tell you, I don't miss warm showers tbh!
Also what is the app called? You said it like it's super easy to spell or look up, sorry haha great video man keep up the good work!
Habitica :)
Such a cool app, Thank you for sharing this gem! Subscriber for life!
during the small sad period of my life, thanks to the help of your sincere and awesome videos, I was able to get my mind back together!!!
I needed this so bad. Thanks Thomas. Oh, and that skit, in the beginning, was great.
Just a dose of protein and fat, no carbs til afternoon.
Notification SQUAD
High five!
Thomas Frank
hey Thomas
I've a question
I'm a 11th grade highschooler from India
and I don't actually have any time for a long morning routine, after my 6.5hr long PCM classes and 6 hours of self study
so...is it necessary to have a long morning routine or a short routine of 1 hour is okay?
if yes, what do you suggest I should fit in that short time
6 hours tutionsand 6 hours selfstudy. Bhai tu toh iit crack karega.
Short it fine! Remember, what you do in your routine is up to you, and it'll partly be limited by everything else in your schedule.
Ek 01 I used to swim for 45mins in the morning rather than running. I used to feel energetic the whole day. Also In swimming, there are lesser chances of injuries.
Thank you so much my colleague Thomas Frank for invitation.
I snooze my alarm clock on purpose, I just set it 10 minutes earlier. is that failure too?
nah, it just your way to wake up
Quinty M yeah that's failure, give yourself more quality sleep, as soon as you wake make your very first thought be about meditating or getting in a cold shower and go straight into it
Why interrupt your sleep early? You'll get better-quality sleep if you just wake up when you intend to wake up.
I don't hit snooze, I wake at 3AM and turn off the alarm and keep sleeping. That's how I don't wake early...
An wvening routine is a refreshing take on how to work towards a morning routine
I watch Thomas when I’m procrastinating or feeling thirsty or both. Who else?
Lol u changed ur name
I must say I'm a BIG FAN to your channel ❤
this is super great speaking about our daily issues in a funny / scientific way & the whole quoting thing is AMAZING .
you keep hitting imp topics every time .
I'm a med school student & somehow I feel related to your videos ...
keep up !!!
SMOL
I used to hit the snooze button for 2 hours, then get up at 7 and run out of the door by 7:15 to get to school. I'd be tired all day and grumpy. Now my alarm goes off at 6:35, I don't hit snooze and I have my routine. I'm so much more energized and happy all day.
like for AlphaM at the beggining of the video!
Matheus Schultz Teige hanley
Rub tiege hanely on- *SIGH* I'm late that meme is already dead
You absolutely killed that intro. Mad props!
It's said that some personality types don't like routines
love the new editing and direction. you're growing as we learn from you
How do you listen to a podcast while showering??? Doesn't your phone get wet???????
I used to put my phone in a glass on the sink counter (which makes it louder). But that habit in Habitica is actually a NEGATIVE habit that will hurt my character if I do it. I realized a while ago that constantly listening to podcasts - while getting dressed, driving, showering, etc - was eating up all the quiet time in my life. And when I had no quiet time, I stopped thinking clearly - there was no time to do it. So I put that there to encourage myself to simply shower in silence.
Great video man! Been binge watching your content for around a week at this point, seriously good stuffs!
he is so cute and smart
Best RUclipsr i have ever seen!! 😊
This lama with the thug life glasses and the music reminds me so much of 21 jump street the scene with the different phases of the drug kid who films himself... does someone know what I'm talking about? :D
Really digging the new style of presentation, good job:) you really evolved as a RUclipsr
wow your face looks completely different than before, you look much fresher than in your previous videos, I like it! is it because of the vegan bars? jk
I think haircut
Quality is 👌🏻 absolutely love your stuff Thomas ;)
I wouldn't be sleeping if I wake up earlier
I really like the tweaks you made to the video's style in comparison to the rest of your videos. :) I love your channel! It has helped me to be more organized in my life and to create habits that will help me in the near future. Keep up with the hard your Thomas!
use teige Henley
I put it my car and now get 1,000 mpg
"Dank memes" 😂
On a more serious note, Thomas, I really enjoyed the humorous intro because well, duh, it was funny, and because since I found it funny/attention-grabbing, I found it easier to keep watching, which is sometimes difficult when I'm watching videos related to productivity or school. So I would love to see more of that technique in future videos! :)
oh, and #dankmemes
Why should I keep getting up early if I am still making no money and experiencing no fruition?
I am enduring too much complex suffering all at once including: bereavement, undiagnosed diseases, deep cold bone pain throughout body, debt, loneliness, trauma , unproductiveness, estrangement, poverty, anti social behaviour, neglect, hostility, damage beyond repair, undeveloped even as an almost 30 yr old adult, ghosting, no fruition despite consistent discipline, fear and further.
Please help me. I deserve better. Time is passing.
First!
Love them!
