Couple things: The sound of the B-52 is interesting... My first wife's dad did a tour in the infantry in Vietnam. He said one time they were somewhere near Cambodia and had stopped on the side of a mountain to eat lunch. All of a sudden they started hearing explosions across the valley, and realized it was bombs. He said he looked up and saw B-52's like little dots in the sky... He said they never heard the planes or knew they were there until the bombs started hitting the ground and exploding. He also stated it seemed like it rained bombs forever. One of my dad's friends... Actually a buddy of dad's older brother did 2 or 3 tours over there. He kept volunteering to go back. Anyway... He said they called in the C-47 with all the miniguns. Larry told dad that during daylight runs there was so much ammo being fired from those planes that you could see the bullets coming down like black raindrops... And at night, with every 5th round being a tracer, it looked like weird snaking laser beams coming down. They called it "Puff the Magic Dragon." And it could put one bullet in every square inch of a football field in one pass. It literally mowed down jungle vegetation.
I served 26 months in Vietnam. Most of these sounds were welcome when you needed them! Tom Boyte, Gy.Sgt. USMC, retired Vietnam 65-66 / 70-71 Bronze Star, Purple Heart
My dad was a WWII veteran. Wounded in Dresden,Germany. He never talked about anything that happened. When he married my mom he said he would never discuss it. Only one little thing he shared with us girls . They were camped on the Rhine and one night his sergeant said, 'Jones, go up there and bring back a chicken to cook.' My dad did. Miss that man unbelievably.

My uncle told me about the most terrifying thing for him. He said after the first couple weeks of being there he was told to go on patrol one evening. By the time he got there, there had been plenty of action around the base he was at. He swore he kept hearing voices in the trees. Everyone he reported it to said it must be the ringing in his ears from the gunfire. So a few days later his name was picked again. And again, the voices. He said they were ghostly. Faded in and out and sometimes had an almost wobbly sound like they were cold and shivering. So he got brave. He shouldered his rifle and slowly made his way toward the sounds. It turned out to be a radio from a dead VC soldier that had been missed during the cleanup of s previous fire fight. The radio had fallen under a bush but wasn't badly damaged. He said he took it to his barracks and they sat around listening to a language none in his little group understood. None of them cared to. They just sat there wringing their hands.

He watches fireworks and watches a lot of war documentaries, shoots guns, etc. etc. And he is diagnosed with the highest level of PTSD. It’s crazy how differently people react, and how long the effects last from person to person. He did say a friend dragged him to a Vietnam movie at the theater not long after he came back, and that when the first firefight happened in the movie he rolled down onto the floor. I also saw him duck down once as a shot rang out in the woods while we were walking back from our deer stands.... Tell your husband thanks for me. What these guys went through was hell, and I have utmost respect for them!

Kamikazeシ he used google translate lel. Boss fight doesn’t translate well into vietnamese so what he said was why am i listening to my manager’s fighting music?
My father (northern Vietnamese civilian) told me that when he was a child, the most terrifying sound was the sound of B-52 bombs. When the B-52 came, people would hide themselves quickly in bunkers and cover their ears. But the high-pitch sound of the bombs falling was just too loud and terrifying, as if they were designed to sound that way when they fall. And then when the bombs landed, they would rumble the whole bunker. But if you heard the boom and felt the rumble, you would feel lucky because that meant you were still alive. After that, you would hope that the bunker entry wasn’t blocked by anything, otherwise you could die inside.
That’s so terrifying, I know I’m from Việt Nam but never getting see what actually happened. Our history book didn’t tell us nothing about this war. B-52 planes were also mentioned our learning books. Imagine being in a bunker , hoping your ears won’t explode, and praying timid that you won’t die. Only to realize the door is blocked of and there is no way of getting back .
The most scariest sound of war is “The Last Post”. They played that trumpet tune while doing roll call and everyone waited to hear who of their friends didn’t reply to their name being called stating weather or not those names being called were dead
Creepy Heres something nice We're no strangers to love You know the rules and so do I A full commitment's what I'm thinking of You wouldn't get this from any other guy I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling Gotta make you understand Never gonna give you up Never gonna let you down Never gonna run around and desert you Never gonna make you cry Never gonna say goodbye Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
Risking their lives for what? What did humanity learn from the footage? The answer is simple: "I want to have even more wars!" "Oh, and video game wars!"
@@gergovagyok4191 The cameramen weren’t filming for commercial purposes, they were getting paid, and also it was their job, their passion. Do you know how much guts you gotta have to go out there and film, see and witness the unimaginable? No and you never will. War will always be about money, but the people who risk their lives in the war don’t care about that. Yes war is bad and will always be horrible, but that’s humanity. It’s better off to document it and remember the fallen who risked their lives, instead of asking why.
I was in a unit within a mile of Rolling Thunder. Nobody knew we were there, so no warning. Vietnam at that time was virgin jungle with huge trees. You felt the bomb internally more than the sound. The trees near the bombs were knocked down, crisscrossing because of the many bombs and blast directions. These huge trees would be stacked like matchsticks and the terrain was almost impassable. Standing on a tree trunk near the top of the pile could be 40 feet above the ground. Some of the enemy in the the blast area were torn apart by wood splinters, some as big as a spear. It was rare to find one alive. But the tigers ate well. Away from the coasts and cities, in jungle areas, gunfire and especially artillery would start the tigers roaring. Except for leave and hospital, 1967-1972. 60% disability.
The worst is when it's the enemy and it sets in that the shapes you've been shooting at are kids just like you. The moment you humanize the enemy is probably the most mentally jarring and dangerous experience.
as a Vietnamese, my grandpa never talked about the Vietnam war, The only thing he said was it was the most traumatic thing ever, then died of old age. Now i understand why it was so bad.
The siege of Con Thien September through October 1967 was trench warfare artillery duel. The North Vietnamese arty had a longer reach. US Army US Marine Corps artillery was outgunned. As I understand, the man behind the arranging of how we use, our artillery was the late Robert McFarland in the Reagan administration as a Marine lieutenant colonel. every night Marines watch the thousands of North Vietnamese soldiers migrate towards the Hoh Chi Minh trail.

Aha... A-10 warthog go BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Couple things:
The sound of the B-52 is interesting...

Thats terrifying
That's possible Intel, shudda handed it in after patrol, or kept it as a souvenir and later sell on ebay...

Well, glad that all over now and no longer at war.

Fact: War is hell.
