that was the goal. From what i've read the Vietnamese believe that ppl must die in their country or their souls wander and cry out. that's what the ghost tapes are meant to replicate.
I'm a Vietnam Vet from May 1967 to April 1969 and a disabled vet. The worst sound is the last breath of a fellow service men. I want to thank every brother for their service and to the family's that lost a loved one. God Bless.

My grandmother used to tell me alot about the war, she told me that when they heard the bomb (B-52) everybody ran as fast as they could to the bunker, she did survived after many bombing wave from the US army but my grandmother's aunt died in the bunker with the unborned child. That is one of her stories, there are many more.

At least we are living in an era of Peace, yes I know it is ironic I say that while Ukraine is getting invaded and Chinese tensions with Taiwan are getting stronger but my point is that at least nowadays, there are way fewer wars and less people suffering than before, though the sad truth is that no matter how peaceful the world is, there will always be war
@@tristanortega606 I have nothing but hope and love for both sides of the Ukraine situation cause there are innocent people living in both sides whether Russian or Ukrainian, and I hope the situation with the Chinese and the Taiwan will be eased.

I remember learning about this job that was a thing in Vietnam during the 2 Indochinese wars, there would be someone who would come to villages or any places where there are reported casualties there and collect the corpses to bury them later.
there's a story when one of these corpse collectors came to a recently massacred village, they found a baby still trying to breastfeed on his mother, even though his mother was dead.
this story still haunts me even till today.
i hope my grandpa didnt see that
My father is a retired US Navy Gunner's Mate, served from 72-93, retired as a Chief Petty Officer. I was born in '02, and for my entire life he has never discussed combat, with me or anyone else.
Knowing that he served in Vietnam, and now hearing some of this, I know now why he chooses not to discuss combat. I wouldn't want to either.

My grandfather who has recently passed away in 2017 served in the vietnamese rebellious force. He and his closest friend was a Ground Canon operator used specifically to take down B52 bombers. Everything was fairly fine, everyone was trying their best but then...the bombs are coming and will reach his path in no time, his friend keep saying that they wouldnt make it out of their alive, but still tried his best to find something to shelter him and my gramps from what is coming "Đăng, get over here, quick, HURRY". In shock, my gramps runned his fastest to the shelter, trying to say something to his friend, but it was too late. The bombs hit Huệ instead, his guts were everywhere and my gramps was in shock and still think of it till this day. War is a terrible thing and traumatizes you no matter what side you are on.

I lost my best friend in Nam in 1969. He was only 20 yrs old. I got a football Scholarship and a deferment. He was not so fortunate. He was in country 6 months and got caught in an ambush. I visit his son every 2 yrs in Kentucky. We are great friends. Many have no idea about the Horrors of war and the battlefield. Rest in peace Brother Mark.
My grandfather served in 1968 - 1969. He was stationed in the mountains as a part of the 228 radio communications battalion. He would also run convoys along the villages and dirt roads up in those mountains. He always said that the scariest part about Vietnam is how quiet it would get, because they all knew that an attack would follow suit.

Couple things:
The sound of the B-52 is interesting... My first wife's dad did a tour in the infantry in Vietnam. He said one time they were somewhere near Cambodia and had stopped on the side of a mountain to eat lunch. All of a sudden they started hearing explosions across the valley, and realized it was bombs. He said he looked up and saw B-52's like little dots in the sky... He said they never heard the planes or knew they were there until the bombs started hitting the ground and exploding. He also stated it seemed like it rained bombs forever.
One of my dad's friends... Actually a buddy of dad's older brother did 2 or 3 tours over there. He kept volunteering to go back. Anyway... He said they called in the C-47 with all the miniguns. Larry told dad that during daylight runs there was so much ammo being fired from those planes that you could see the bullets coming down like black raindrops... And at night, with every 5th round being a tracer, it looked like weird snaking laser beams coming down. They called it "Puff the Magic Dragon." And it could put one bullet in every square inch of a football field in one pass. It literally mowed down jungle vegetation.
I showed this to my grandpa and it relaxed and gave him so much nostalgia that he grabbed his heart in happiness and fell asleep

And during night, if they see a light somewhere , they will bombard it there. In general, at that time my grandfather's generation was very miserable.

I can't imagine half the things these men experienced, both my grandfather and his brother on my mothers side served and my grandfather on my father's side serve. The brothers were both marines and my dad's father was an atomic specialist. The marine grandfather became a victim to agent orange at the age of 55 devolped an extremely aggressive cancer and ultimately passed to the disease , I only knew the man until I was 10 years old but he was one hell of a stand up guy who wore his heart on his sleeve you would of never guessed the role he played , fast forward to this day now both grandfathers have passed and I have since spoken to the "brother" of the marine that also served and we talked about stories and some of the things my grandfather couldn't talk about. My mom's father manned a flamethrower quite a few times and other wise was a light machine gun carrier, even when he went to come home he lost his personal belongs , was supposed to be on one plane and was booted to another plane , and the plane he was supposed to be on went down on the way home , I'm spotty on all the some of the stories and don't want to get it wrong. But overall the things I've heard from both ends of the spectrum these men had some fucking balls , from being in hueys , village raids , and my other grandfather being an atomic specialist in the army , those stories were pretty wild to hear as well. These men were treated like dirt when they arrived home after seeing and living the horrors they did , if most would hear the stories they would all understand why these men deserve respect and to never be forgotten. Bless our brave soldiers 🙏
as a Vietnamese, my grandpa never talked about the Vietnam war, The only thing he said was it was the most traumatic thing ever, then died of old age. Now i understand why it was so bad.
My uncle told me about the most terrifying thing for him. He said after the first couple weeks of being there he was told to go on patrol one evening. By the time he got there, there had been plenty of action around the base he was at. He swore he kept hearing voices in the trees. Everyone he reported it to said it must be the ringing in his ears from the gunfire. So a few days later his name was picked again. And again, the voices. He said they were ghostly. Faded in and out and sometimes had an almost wobbly sound like they were cold and shivering. So he got brave. He shouldered his rifle and slowly made his way toward the sounds. It turned out to be a radio from a dead VC soldier that had been missed during the cleanup of s previous fire fight. The radio had fallen under a bush but wasn't badly damaged. He said he took it to his barracks and they sat around listening to a language none in his little group understood. None of them cared to. They just sat there wringing their hands.
Thats terrifying
That's possible Intel, shudda handed it in after patrol, or kept it as a souvenir and later sell on ebay...
@@irvsstella yeah eBay in the 70s was the shit. Way less stringent on their rules, you could buy heroin direct from Vietnam. Ebay just after WW2 and during Prohibition was the best though. Lots of genuine German army artifacts and boot legged booze respectively. I doubt eBay during the Great Depression was any good though..
@@RA75AK I think you've had too much smack my friend, straighten out and get a sense of humour xxx loves ya 😘
Cap
The sounds are not terryfying by themselves, whats really terryfying is that the humans made these sounds,

Hey Grandad can I show you this cool video?
Respect to all the people that have served to their countries. Good or bad they gave their lives and all. It's really sad that wars are still a thing and realizing that there were not just stories that people and high school used to teach us about, that it was real, that everything happened; makes me go crazy and mad I just can't explain
I am so angry with this world and people but there's nothing I can do.
Blessings to all the families. ❤️🩹😔
