The Germans purposefully put sirens on dive bombers. It was to convey to allied soldiers that they were very likely going to die. The only thing you can do, is flatten yourself so you reduce the amount of shrapnel injuries.

RUclips: The Most Terrifying Sounds of War
My Grandfather was was ten when the war ended and he says the most terrifying one was the Stuka and the Headmaster at his school was killed when a bomb landed on his house and turned it into a hole. He also says that the screeching sound was the worst.

Air raid sirens aren’t just for war
You missed the whistle of bullets flying above your head its terrifying. I was in infantry.

Correction in the A-10, the gun was not mounted on the nose, the plane was mounted on the gun
Noah G. Fact
Sheww thats scary
???i don't understand??? am i in trick??
Edwen Sanabria truth is ,they designed the gau 8 cannon first. Then designed an air plane to carry it.
NJ Old Guy ohhh
The Germans purposefully put sirens on dive bombers. It was to convey to allied soldiers that they were very likely going to die. The only thing you can do, is flatten yourself so you reduce the amount of shrapnel injuries.
I cannot even imagine how terrifying it must have been
The air raid sirens... i can still vaguely remember them.

To be fair, if you hear #3, it wasn't meant for you. On the other hand, the "brrrrrt" is a massive morale boost for American soldiers and Marines.
yup, gau-8 was so badass.
Scariest sound by far is when I hear a car door slam and I haven’t done the dishes yet
Matt Acuna - lol
may you rest in pepperoni...
That and when you hear the knob turning on your front door and you’re playing video games but you were supposed to do homework
Spartan 117 Or when you’re playing a scary game and you hear something outside your room
SirMan McDude twitch guy eh?
The sound of a nuclear weapon detonation and the sight of a mushroom cloud would be absolutely terrifying if you're in range of the shockwave - and also knowing that even if you survived that, you'd likely be fatally irradiated and die a slow death later on.
You can be saved if you are at a proper distance to the bomb and if you are reached in time there is a little bit of chance of survival
The most terrifying thing in war is seeing a single plane fly over.
@@g.williams2047 this +1
i remember a story of a dude in japan seeing a nuke go off from the place he was at ( was watching thru sliding doors facing one of the other islands) and that to me is one of the worst things to witness and survive knowing you just watched an entire island of people get obliterated.
I agree with you.I would say there are countries with Nuclear Bunkers in them.
I would love to have a Nuclear Bunker under my house.I would have everything
in it to survive.

My Grandfather fought in WW2, he said to me that whenever he heard the Jericho Siren he knew only one thing.
He had air support.
that's not funny
my grandfather died in concentration camp
when he felt of guarding tower
I can't breath that's hilarious.
The dive bomber is definitely one of the most terrifying sound of war. However, silence is the most terrifying sound of war.
Nobody:
Germany:Hello my friends.I can build a Bomb thats makes scary sounds.
In german: hallo meine Freunde. Ich kann eine Bombe bauen die gruselige Geräusche macht .
What do you think about Germany now? lul
Haha ich bin auch Deutsch.

Every sound in WWII was probably scary anyway.
In WWII
someone: You are safe
everyone else: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Nah I say more ww1 because the technology back then made everything sound so scary
"HANS!!!"
Generally in war
It just be too loud if it was today modern weapons
If this is what soldiers have ringing in their ears for life after combat, it's no wonder PTSD is so real.
