    Those little cards are really useful as a quick reference. Especially for timings.
    Not that you would take it out on the hill but have you ever used one of those map measuring wheels. I've always stuck to the methods you spoke about😊

    Cracking flick dude! Your plowing this stuff out bro.. I plan my routes on the comp and it does all the adding up for me haha. Only really measure distance when turd hits the fan

      Yeah GPS is a cool thing to have and works well with planning etc.
      Using a map to plan and work out distances not only gives you the distance and elevation but it gives you the chance to look closely at the terrain and consider the route thoroughly.
      I do both. I generally plot the route on OS Maps because it is easy to slap that line over the map and see the stats but then I go to the paper map also. I find that by looking at the map and working out the distance I start to think about how the ground will look and feel too.
