Now that the excavation and form building is finished, we're ready to pour and finish the concrete! Finishing a concrete mow strip can be a little stressful because of the time limit, but if you stay on top of it you've got nothing to worry about. Today we'll talk about pouring, setting posts, and finishing so your end product looks amazing.

It’s so refreshing to see people who love fencing as much as I do👍👊
Thank you for sharing this video. The audio and visual portions of the video are well done. I can see what you are talking about in the project and I can hear you explaining things clearly.
Thank you Lonnie! That's very encouraging for us to here. 👍🏻
I really loved this video and the "mow curb," and I want one of my new fence!
I am thoroughly impressed with SWI Fencing vinyl fence product and want this for my new fence!
Well done, Sir!
Thank you!
I can’t help but think a slide hammer type jig would help you drive the post in that concrete. It would eliminate the jerking motion and it’s more controlled. Great video! Keep em coming.
Concrete was a little stiff that day--isn't always that much work. 😏
love this video and the focus on the details. I wish I started that young as your helpers!
First of all, thank you. Very cool and simple but high value video. Greetings from Germany :)
Hey, thanks!
Greeting from Wade, NC! I enjoy seeing your videos. Can I place the post alone and continue later on with the mow curb? Since, I am doing this DIY vinyl fence job by myself. Where will it be best place to stop placing concrete, if I can't finish the whole concrete mow curb in one day? At post or center between vinyl post? Great videos!
Can you do a video on a wood driveway gate for property entrance ? I have existing 60 year old locust split rail fence and the gate fell down
I need to replace the broken gate, new post, new gate, 16 feet wide, double gate, each 8 ft wide, 4 ft high
Thanks
I have a problem. I installed a deer fence (8 feet) by a road way. Sometimes my neighbors miss the road and go thru my fence destroying it in the process. Is there any way I can install some kind of fuse or breakaway so when they hit it the whole fence isn't pulled and wrecked. This way only the area hit would be affected or at least a shorter amount of fence and posts pulled from the accident. So far 6 cars and trucks have landed in my fields.
The age old problem of keeping cars out of your fence line!
Id say collect the insurance moneys and start building a wall! Or maybe a curb
@@wyattgreeson2765 I do have large boulders on the property and can move them. Just takes time.
Good. Good job man.
I want to know how much this concrete curb with fence posts may cost for 170 ft x 170 ft yard?
It's been 2 years since this pour. Did it hold up? A want to do this curb but I didn't know if it would crack apart while the fence was fluctuating in the wind.
It's holding strong! 👍🏻
Why no gravel or rebar?
There is no gravel since we didn't perform excessive excavation for the mow strip, and there's no need for rebar. With all the concrete being connected and poured as a single unit, the post footings serve as sturdy pylons for the mow strip.
The only thing you forgot to do...Tell us to "Have A Good Dang Day". LOL Fence is looking awesome.
Might help keeping the iguanas from digging under the fence.
The iguanas! Often overlooked. 🙂
Do you need rebar or remesh in the concrete?
No.
Love all the great tips! No rebar?
Nope! No rebar. We've found rebar isn't necessary with this system as everything is locked together and each post acts as a pylon.
You ever use a post level
Nah, just a carpenters level.
Do rabbits 🐇 trench under the concrete? Are you obligated for animal removal if they get in the garden?
Haha-no. We're not obligated for animal removal. This is a mow strip and a dig barrier, but it doesn't come with guarantees against moles or whatever you might have in your ground.
Uh….this was about a 2 slump. I would never pour this stiff 😂. I also want to point out that your posts are plumb, not level. Are you even pros? 😉
Level, plumb--plumb, level. C'mon now, YOU KNOW WHAT WE MEAN! 😉
👍👍
