Even though I am a Vietnamese, I have never been to the North West of Vietnam. The reason that I watch the video, is to learn English and of course my curiosity. But by watching the scenery, I am shocked because of how beautiful my country is. The landscape is stunning. I love your narrative telling. Thanks. Maybe I should consider a trip to Ha Giang.

Hey you two, I just want to say thank you for your hard work and artistry in documenting the Hai Giang loop. I rode it solo Nov. 19-21st 2019. You captured my experience and I'm so grateful to be able to share it with friends and family through your beautiful video. Good job!

Thats awesome to hear. We put a lot of effort into this video series because we were happy with how the Saigon to Hanoi version turned out. You weren't there much later than us last year! Is it time to go back yet?

      @zippersmithic 4 года назад +1

@@timandfin Yes! I was scheduled to go in March but missed it (due to the closures and flight cancellations) by only three days. I hope Qatar Airlines comes through with the voucher/refund lol. I was disappointed, but in hindsight it was probably for the best. I will head that way when they reopen. This time, Da Nang, Hai Giang (again, I hope it's warmer ha!), Dien Ben Phu area, and maybe Mekong. I've made 4 trips in the last two years so far. It's a magical place. How about you two? What's next?

This vlog was top notch. I saw your first VN vlog from three years ago, and I must say that you both look more relaxed and really enjoying your trip more this time around, esp. Fin looking less uptight than the first trip. I really appreciate the tips on motorbike selections and gear. I'm so impressed that Fin rode a motorbike herself throughout the trip and also navigated through Hanoi traffic like a local. Once COVID-19 is over and international travel is possible again, I will go to VN. I was born in the South but raised in the U.S., a product of the Vietnamese diaspora after the war. You guys have really opened up my eyes to the beauty of the North, which I know nothing about, so I will definitely spend more time there. Those puppies and kids were so cute. Great job!

Hello Tim & Fin, I love your videos & I love the wonderful dynamic between you two & I love Vietnam for 10 years now. I am not a Subscriber yet (but should be) but I have been an avid follower of your Vietnam videos for 2 years because I shared similar dreams to you in planning cycling tours from south to north in Vietnam. You are young & adventurous while I am much older Aussie going on 72 but also adventurous in a similar inspired, fun loving way. I became widowed last year after my wife lost her 3 year cancer battle, and then my 2020 reunion cycling tour & family tour of Vietnam that was to have been a dream realized had to be cancelled due to Covid-19. Aussie John determinably decided that I would spend 3 months in Vietnam from March to June that became 9 months after I was stranded there with many months in semi lockdown & isolation in Hue City. I am just back home now after quarantining in Canberra & reflecting on my journey & also enjoying yours in Vietnam. MY STORY this year is truly amazing because of my desire to both cycle & motorbike pillion for the first time to places that you have shared the passion to see as young YouTubing adventurers. After I watched your Ha Giang video I felt very moved as I shared your feelings I think & wanted to connect with you to say THANK YOU. My journeys this year started on the Ho Chi Minh Road with Mr EasyRider Da Lat and took me many thousands of kms from south-central highlands to finish in the stunning mountains of Ha Giang Province plus cycling Son La Province before I got a repat flight home. Congratulations on what you have done & put up for viewers. If I could share some of my personal 2020 story with you I would like that, and how it all came about. But my passion to do it was driven by you two!

I cannot begin to imagine the beauty you guys experienced on this trip. Epic. Magical. Magnificent. Breathtaking. I bet none of those words can come remotely close to describing the unique mystical landscapes. I think I would have just felt like a piece of me was at peace with nature while absorbing all that natural beauty and I would just cry. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing journey!

I live in Hanoi and ride a motorbike and I have to say mad props to Fin for her riding skill and courage without a lot of prior experience. Navigating those crazy roads up north and often insane Hanoi traffic (especially those Old Quarter streets) is no joke. So impressed! Watched it all the way through and loved seeing the country I live in through your eyes.

I know this was 3 years ago and you guys may not comment on it………. But my wife (whom is Vietnamese herself) and I just want to say how much we enjoyed this video. Like another viewer said; that is Vietnamese, she grew up in Hue and lived in Danang and Hue until she was about 36 and never made it up to the area you guys traveled in this video. You guys have me so excited to go to Vietnam now; my wife enjoys Hawaii, so that is our usual trip destination. Thanks again for doing this video and now we want to watch your other videos. We were surprised once we realized how long we had sat and watched this video, very relatable, honest and real. Keep up your travels. Blessings

When I was in the US Navy ('78-'82) we cruised off the coast of Vietnam in '80 on our way to Bangkok, Thailand and rescued 2 boats of refugees with babies aboard. We had a total of 77 refugees with us when we arrived in Bangkok and the American Red Cross came and picked them up. Both the refugees and us all cried when we had to say good-bye because we had become such good friends. Through our Facebook page one of the babies, now grown, found and remembered us. This was back in 2012 or so and she was studying to be a doctor. She told us that she had been adopted by a couple in California and was living there now. Once again we all cried like little babies hearing that but so happy that we were able to have contact with one of them again!!

I know Fin says that she is ready to be done with most trips, but I keep hearing her seem to want a day here and there to just kick back and take a day off. With the rooms being so reasonable on this trip, it seems that for less than $100-$200, 3-4 days could be added, and the hectic feeling of getting to the next destination could be mostly eliminated. The drive through the city, with Fin wearing the camera was an entertaining, nail biting, experience! The scenery and quiet roads made me drool!

FYI. There is a simple traffic rule in Vietnam, that is "you can go anyway you want but do not hit others". In another word, there is no right of way, if you hit someone, it was your fault. Theoretically speaking, since everyone would try to avoid hitting others, there would be no accident. Hope this help those who want to drive in Vietnam.

Hi, Great Vid. I lived in VN for two years and Sapa was like wonderland! Yes it was raining! Yes it was cold! (November- I came to see the snow) Yes the fog obscured the highest mountain in Vietnam but the hot wine with cinnamon, the pumpkin soup and the wood burning fireplaces in the restaurants negated all that! And, yes, every other shop was selling NorthFace Knockoffs for extreme prices!
A word about IDP. International Driving Permits. The MOST Important thing of travelling with and IDP in any foreign country is YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE. If you are driving anything, have an accident that requires medical aid, your insurance company will want (a) a police report of the incident and they will look on that report for info on whether or not you possessed (b) your IDP. If you do not have then you are considered driving illegally regardless of you home drivers license and they will NOT pay out on your medical charges. So, if you do have accident, a you do have your IDP, make sure the police report lists your IDP data; better yet a copy.
Whether or not you will get fined in any country because you don't have an IDP is irrelevant compared to not being covered by any insurance when your bean kisses the pavement!
And Yes you are required to have IDP in Vietnam if you are driving anything. I have seen so many "Dah Factor Videos" about the guys zooming in to Saigon, buying the the crappy Russian and Chinese rust buckets and telling everyone you don't need licenses. These people give Travelers a bad rap.
So maybe you could work that into one of your videos for a FYI.
Getting stopped in VN,(even if you are not speeding of you did nothing wrong) they want money, usual in 2016/17 was 100k ($4.32+-). (keep a 100k note in your pocket so you dont show your wallet) They were never interested in whether or not you have any permits or licenses. If they get hold of your passport or your motorbike keys the price increases. I carried a plasticized copy of my passport and and two spare key sets. I never once was stopped in Saigon, Hoi An or Hanoi, only the roads between.
I have lived in Thailand, Chiang Mai last 6 years and YES, they stop everyone one, in and out of the city( road blocks) especially the tourists and absolutely require the IDP and helmets. No the rental company for the motorbike will not ask you to see your IDP. If they rented only to tourists with IDP they would go broke. It is not their job and no they will not tell you about the road blocks, bad for business!
Take care, have more fun, keep the videos comin.....

Hi Tim&Fin, my name is Natalie, my friend just visited Sapa, so I looked up clips about Sapa and found you guys. I was born in VN but moved to US in 1992, now I'm in NJ. Your clips about VN are awesome. It brought me so much emotion about my beautiful home country. I did have a tour from Sai Gon to Ha Noi in 2003. I haven't been to any places north of Ha Noi. Thanks for your clip so I feel like I actually on the road and see those sceneries. I don't think I can physically and mentally do road trip to Sapa, Ha Giang like you guys. Thanks for your love of VN. You guys are so cool, and funny. Your clips are very interesting. VN sceneries are so beautiful but it brought me in tears to see the poors, many bad issues still evolving, pollution, Phu Quoc's beautiful beaches are polluted or Sapa is a chaos with development...so sad...I will look for all your travel clips. Thank you for all your time on the road and your work.

Vietnam is truly a friendly and safe country. You are free to go everywhere without facing extremist Islam groups, kidnapping, shootings .. locals are always friendly with smiles. Do not forget to say "Xin Chao" (hello) and you will be welcomed and well-received by the local people.

So, i was a little sceptical about a two hour episode but i was glued to the show and found myself not wanting it to end. Amazing job from both of you. Great team work. The trip was spectacular. I loved every minuet. The drive with Fin through Hanoi traffic had me on the edge of my seat. I am an experienced and gutsy rider and i would have probably crashed several times. I am now a big fan and subscriber. Thanks for an amazing 2 hour episode.
