That said, if you want a little help with understanding what went wrong with the recording, here's a few tips; • Would look into microphone properties and vocal technique a bit. We generally don't need to sing so close to a mic, and sometimes it's better to offset or angle our approach to the mic to avoid overloading the microphone sensor (Element or Capsule). That is, speak to the sides of the mic so our breath isn't being forced onto the sensor causing pops. You'll learn this naturally just comparing how your voice sounds at different places with a mic. - To aid understanding what I'm on about, hold the palm of one of your hands and say "pop"; Feel that rush of breath on your hand? That's what you're trying to avoid hitting that sensor. - May help in part to learn why pop filters are used in recording studios with microphones, basically a mesh or screen that's put in front of the mic to prevent the breath from overloading the mic. • The instrument line is too hot. Basically, saying that crass sounding distortion that's happening in the mix is due to the instrument line levels being too high. Without knowing how it was recorded, all I can suggest for correcting that is lowering the input levels a bit. Most recording devices have a recording line in audio visualizer; If yours does, you normally are just trying to make sure the visualizer isn't turning red, and rarely ever in the yellow if at all. In the green is almost always going to mean good. - If that doesn't make sense, I'm saying to turn the volume of the line (cable) down a bit, or possibly turn the gain off completely unless you're going for that grindy sound (I'm assuming you weren't given it's only overloaded in parts.). Anyway, performance stands out as great. Love the crowd play and reaction they had too.
