My two takeaways from this episode: 1. That first hour was intense! I love seeing how Hollie has gone from a novice DnD player to being fully aware of everything she can do in combat. 2. I (the character, not the me) has been my favourite for a while. I absolutely loved his development in this episode. Alex plays it so well as well!

Hollie absolutely crushed that guy. He took everyone out with his cursed whip, multiple legendary actions per turn, and insane disabling breath weapon, but Ellowen was like "I have a sharp thing" and made him into little pieces.
It’s amazing how some sessions you just cannot roll for shit, everything is dire. Yet some sessions you just can’t put a foot wrong. It makes no logical sense! The gods of luck are real. Praise Cadence!

Harry gave that boss some nasty abilities: incapacitation, preventing healing, and a high WIS saving throw to combat Dolly and Radian abilities and spells.
Andy & Robbie’s cards not only in one episode but one immediately after the other was whiplash inducing. Yet another insane rollercoaster of an episode.

I have never played dnd, I don't know if I will ever get the chance to play dnd.....and yet I have just bought my second set of dice, this time from Table Top Dominion, thanks to the wonderful ad work of one Benjamin Starr. Never underestimate the power of a great ad and the enjoyment of pretty things that make nice noises when they clink together 😆

1. I’m marrying Alex, or I, whoever is the more available. 2. I LOVED the way Ben upended that scene with the lilies. 3. That battle was thrilling: the tension-and-release magic which happens when you let the dice tell the story. A++
Almost 24 hours since this episode was released and managed to finish it. I need to retire from work and then send the kids on holiday every two weeks. Nice episode guys.
22:46 - People do different home brews on Crits, and it’s whatever is fun and works at their game table. I have seen a Crit equal automatic max possible damage (highest possible number on damage dice rolled plus bonuses once), I’ve seen it equal to roll the damage dice twice then add the bonuses (once), but my favorite is roll damage dice and double the roll then add bonuses (once). Bonuses equal proficiency bonus plus any modifier bonuses (strength for strength based weapons or attacks, dexterity for dexterity based weapons, intelligence for wizard spells, wisdom for Cleric spells, … etc. 😊
Definitely do it whatever way suits your table. Personally, I like a crit being full dice damage, then roll as normal on top. It's powerful, but it avoids moments when the double damage crit rolls low and only hits like 6 out of 36. Whatever feels right for your game is always the best choice, though
This was such a great episode (as always). Very intense and captivating during the fight and very funny and cute later. The ad-reads are hilarious. I hate ads in generals, but yours I just love and I would let you guys sell me anything. Thank you for another episode and wish you all a very lovely day.
Absolutely Amazing! Normally in any great work of fiction you get Emotion, then Intrigue, and finally a Huge Big Boss Fight - but you completely shuffled the narrative by going Fight - Emotion - Intrigue. 1. Fight - Andy Farrant vs Robbie Daymond (oh, and some guy with a whip?) 2. Kobbold-eo and Gnome-eyette? (just try being friends first?). 3. Intrigue - how to influence a public meeting in one easy lesson (blood spilled = influence gained). I am a bit worried about how quickly you are burning through the cards in The Deck of Many Friends though...
Props to Harry for continuing to make characters more complex on the spot and create verbose speeches. You can work on your Dwarven accents but everything else sounds splendid!
I went to make lunch partway through the fight, and I'm not entirely sure if chopping up food was a good idea given how much my hands were shaking... No harm done, though, so it all worked out, but goodness me that was tense.
Gotta love RUclips's algorithms - you put a common phrase which happens to be the name of a video game in the title, and they assume you're making a Let's Play of that game, even though it also says "D&D Actual Play" in there.
When Radion died he ended up underwater. I wonder if he had actually died he would have respawned on the beach where he originally turned up with no memories?

Even better if oxventure can come in and guest star, I'd LOVE to see what they'd do with this situation (I can take some guesses regarding Corazon, Prudence, and Merilwen, but Egbert and Dob would be complete wild cards, and then I'd want Johnny to surprise us with as many fan favorite NPCs as they can manage). I also want a new TTRPG or edition of D&D or something that's just romantic stuff like this.

Never played DnD, so not 100% up on the rules. But out of curiosity... on I's turn at 27:00 when he wanted to shoot out the light but decided to hit the bad guy instead, the bad guy is in melee with at least two other allies and I thought that might trigger automatic "sneak attack" or automatic "critical hit" or something? Just curious, not trying to call anyone out for a rules violation or whatever.
People like to clown on human fighters cuz they're the most common chosen, or at least that's what i notice on posts or vids but holy sht man i often forget they're really wild at combat (which makes sense cuz y'know "fighter" 😂). Ohh and yeah idk why but quincy reminds me of pike from vox machina so much. I mean yeah they're both gnomes but idk man 😂
SPOILERS Elowen visibly upset after Radian dies and going "if you do that again ill kill you myself" is amazing. Such a long way from telling him she would never help him and leave him to die in ep 11
SPOILERS!!!! : I am a bit let down by how the Deck of Many Friends was handled here. It kind of felt like you can just keep pulling cards until you get the result you want. Constantly replacing the previous result. It took the wind out of the sails for me.
I expect this may have been a one off because they were in a card game setting and Dollie hadn't forced the actual card game deck. It does feel like it shouldn't become a thing in future play as it does take some of the drama out and means that certain carefully created cards wouldn't get used to their fullest. I guess we will find out in Action Surge next week!
Understandable, I think Harry said that he would only allow one card pull in response to try and change that specific circumstance, I feel using up their 20 (I doubt there'll be any other of those in this deck?) to swing and negate it in this way is the most acceptable way to do so. Hope that generally they're gonna use a rule to only allow one pull going forwards and live with the consequences. Do wish the mechanic weighted against the party still went through though, would have been good to see the follow through on the consequences!

Yeah, I think "roll double the dice" is RAW, for that matter, so I have no idea what that criticism was about!

So it would trigger sneak attack if that attack didn't miss. Essentially sneak attack is extra damage but doesn't guarantee that the attack will hit.
