I haven't really listened to 311 in many years, but popped in an old 311 mix I made and fell back in love with them. Forgot how badass they were, and then found a few new albums (to me) and this is song. Its badass maine.
That's some signature 311 sound right there. Digging the vocal depth and harmonies. Love the Nick "talk-rap" parts, and SA's rapping in this track feels like old school SA. Liking it more with each listen.
Fucking LOVE these guys. Still no one out there even close. Their melodies are so strong. Excellent harmonies. SA sounds better than ever and Nick still has his velvet voice as cool as the other side of the pillow. Chad owns the drums with P-nut rounding out that bottom end like only he can. Tim still plays lights out. Just love them. Evolving as a band but still staying true to the sound that made them who they are. If you haven't seen them live, go check it out. It is one seriously badass experience. Took my kids (17 and 15) to see them this past summer. No one in the venue ever sat in their seats. Dancing and grooving all night long. Yeah!!
Damian Esquibel They are not nearly as good as they used to be, or still can be. I've seen them live 6 times. My first show was in 97 and the last show I saw was in 2014. They're songwriting and live performances have been on a steady decline since 2004. People get older, they change, they mature, I totally get that. I'm 35 and I am nothing like the person I was when I was 20. The type of music these guys play should get better with age, but it's not, they got lazy, and it's been showing since "Evolver." I still buy all their music, I still go to every show I can. I still love and respect them, but I'm a little heartbroken over their waning passion for their craft. I believe that if time travel was possible, the 1997 311 would not be very proud of the 2015 311, strictly based on their current lack of musicianship and songwriting. On a positive note I will say that this particular album has been their best work since "From Chaos" and they actually sound quite similar. Their live shows these days are just meh. But then again, everything I wrote is just my opinion, and we all know opinions are subjective. I do like your attitude though, you're comment was worded like a true 311 fan and I respect that. Hell, I can even relate to it, but I'm a little more critical than you are, or maybe I'm just an asshole. Stay positive my friend, after all, it is 311's credo.
Well you were honest. You have some valid points and I appreciate how you voice them. I would admit that my judgement is a little clouded given how much I like them. Peace.
Phuck Uall I agree to SOME extent. While I felt they went downhill after from chaos, At 1st I hated DTOM as much as I tried to like it. However, since then, over several years, I actually love about 1/2 that album now. I think a lot of it is expectations that we have as fans. Imagine if they kept putting the same shit out for the last 25 years? Yeah, theres been some "not not as good" songs, but overall, most are awesome.Where I will disagree with you is "their current lack of musicianship and songwriting"..? SAY WHAT? That is simply not true. Their problem is tryin a little too hard to: Keep a similar 311 feel/style, yet continue to sound new/fresh- and they continue to do this. I would prefer that they try a little less hard, not ever song has to be a hit, and before you know it, you'll have one. But IMO, its not always the hits that I loved, it was some of the obscure, just feel good rockin 311 jams that I love. and I agree again *STAY POSITIVE* all of y'all.311 4 EVA
My dad had a major health scare yesterday and i am thinking about how hard it is to go on with out him, and how am i going to be able to do it, and then i think about people who i loved who left me. love 311 never heard this song just randomly clicked on it while i was thinking about this a great message and support from god
I just looooove how this sounds straight outta the 90's \m/ hell yeah. Now this is a band that knows how to stick to its true roots, but still progress through their career.
WickedMo13 Probly cause most of the music these days is crap and all sounds the same but 311 has proven to stay true to its original sound and this song proves it =)
One of my favorite all-time bands! Love the way they mix reggae with rock, with rap, with cool! They are in my earbuds every time I snowboard or go to the beach, and ALWAYS in my car CD player. Of course I've seen them live too. They just deliver and make people happy, you know? I hope they keep rocking us forever! Their music provides "something for everyone."
I have loved every album put out by 311. 60% of the tracks immediately, yet after listening over and over i find the rest are acquired taste. Some tracks i fall in love with years later.... my point is i love every song ever... b-sides, soundtracks, and covers alike. 311 has been a positive influence and a source of inspiration for me sense mid 90's and like most fans i found music, grassroots, and Omaha sessions only made it more real. Say what you want about the newer stuff but i end up nodding my head to all of it... Thank you so much 311 for giving us fans a constant supply of amazing positive music. In a sea of hate and sadness you are the shining light.
I was scrolling through the comments seeing everybody agree 100% with there new music taste. Saying things like "classic 311" and so on however; I believe you might be closest to the truth. Grassroots, Music, even Soundsystem (my first 311 album), will always trump. I still stay true and hopeful that they have it in them to create another masterpiece as I hope you do. I miss the emotion that existed within their albums, as if they had so much to say and no one was listening. Now everyone's listening and they're just trying to produce...sigh.
^ Lol classic 311 because 311 is classic .. their sound is not defined by one specific genre or time-frame .. and to say one period was the best is like, your opinion, man .. they say so much in every single song they write lol , even if it's a poppy radio-friendly one like Uplifter was full of. They have messages everywhere if only you look. Can't create endless fucking songs like they used to - 311 for life - in all endeavors - get out of here.
AC/DC did it for decades. yeah. I don't like the poppy stuff that 311 is doing now. they will always be one of my favorite bands, I just don't care for the pop style that they're evolving into. I fell in love with the rap/rock/reggae style that got them to where they're at, and they move farther away from that with every album. just my opinion
My first comment was really directed at the dude who said they don't make provocative tunes. AC/DC did what, diversified in music? I never really got into them & only know of their mainstream stuff, which is all the same, as most bands, which is tiring to me. I was initially attracted to 311 by the Grassroots stuff as well. It literally took me like 3 straight years of playing 311 daily to get tired of the music, and then years later it hit me like a bomb the same way it did before.. For them to still be pumping out innovative shit is an accomplishment as fuck. First song I liked when I was 14 was "Don't tread on me" though, lol, which is reggae/pop-ish. In all honesty, in the spirit of 311, I embrace whatever direction they choose, because it's always a good one. Have to look at the specific song without comparisons and value it for what it is. 311 is ECLECTIC. If they did nothing but Music/Grassroots-esque tunes, it'd be played out, and Transistor/Soundsystem were both experimental vibes that they're getting back into on the new album. In the end they have to focus on what sells in order to be privileged enough to even make the music fans of old are used to. Listen to "Too Late", new song, it's redic.. you'll be relieved and impressed. They are very receptive and listen to fans, they're an amazing band bruh, & I love pop so I can't hate the poppy, life is good vibes and bad, embracing all is 311 BRUH!!!
I have heard "Too Late". I heard it a couple months ago from the cruise. I like it. I also heard the song they released before it, and I did NOT like it. I thought it was terrible. if the new album goes in the direction of "Too Late", I'll be very happy with the album. but if it goes in the direction of the first single released, I'll be very disappointed
Hard to believe how old they are now; I remember them back when I was in middle school in the 90s too bad kids today don't like them or heck alot have never even HEARD of 311; shame
+Jessica Saenz ikr me to I ask .a you like 311 ? who's that omg you kidding me wow I have to feel sorry 4 em haha A THERE LOSS ARE GAIN . ROCK ON GIRL AND COUNT ME IN \M/
Sweet tune. Love the swinging groove in the choruses. Love the tin bass sound in the clean parts. Love the harmonies. Love how the chorus incorporates rap and melody. I find, the best way for me to appreciate a 311 song is to pick up a guitar and learn to play it. That's when I truly realize how dynamic it is. I also love how the song is framed with that tight intro that returns for the outro. Yessir!
man, fuck the charts. I think it's super rad that they put out a single that ISN'T super "catchy". once they started caring about the charts their music got bland. I hope the rest of this record is as cool as this single. LOOOVE how SA isnt just hangin in the background on this tune. and I love how there are a lot of changes, reminiscent of old 3. maybe after a couple mediocre records, they're finally finding their new niche.
You got it right on the tin bass sound. Right when I opened this I couldn't decide on what it sounded like to me and I produce music. You described the bass sound just right.
No matter what I try there’s no room in my mind No way to go round that, that’s just the way it is must I remind I don’t pick up the phone but you still try to call There’s nothing left to say you’ve already gotta know we’ve said it all The story never ends, in search of something But once we arrive it all starts again Reaching for higher ground, the river’s rising It keeps on flowing forever no matter what we have found Sometimes it seems insane To just keep pressing on As if it will put out the flame But still the thirst remains Drink another drink And somehow I still feel the same Step off, head out, take flight, and just run Got five of everything but I just need one My brain telling me what I want, I need Got five of everything but I still proceed Help me fill up this hole It’s gaping and out of control It feels like I’m losing touch and it’s taking its toll When this wall isn’t moving State of things not improving And no satisfaction in the distraction of the day Sometimes it seems insane To just keep pressing on As if it will put out the flame But still the thirst remains Drink another drink And somehow I still feel the same Step off, head out, take flight, and just run Got five of everything but I just need one My brain telling me what I want, I need Got five of everything but I still proceed Living in this culture can be a drag It’s just a commercial what we have A one track mind we grab, grab, grab We’re past being crazy, call us mad Gone is the golden egg and the goose And the bullshit of all hell breaking loose We gotta hit the boost Sip on the thick juice Disregard the bad cards And wake the truth Step off, head out, take flight, and just run Got five of everything but I just need one My brain telling me what I want, I need Got five of everything but I still proceed The story never ends, in search of something But once we arrive it all starts again Reaching for higher ground, the river’s rising It keeps on flowing forever
Look bands evolve...its just the way it goes. No band always sounds the same. As a musician you are always looking for new sounds that will influence how you write. So goes for 311...I think this is awesome. They have grown as musicians and have a become a tight band. If you don't like it don't listen to it.
exactly bro. they never understand their changes, but when it comes to themselves, they always want to be evolving. that's life, it moves on and evolves. never gonna stay the same.
311 delivers yet again, doesn't surprise me one single bit. This song has the older 311 albums sound to it. These previous albums that have come out have been spectacular though. I believe Stereolithic is 311's way of saying to the fans that we still have our style, new or old and this is how they do! Rock on forever 311, never stop, I'll still be listening to you guys when I'm an old fuck. Luv N Peace!
I love these boys more today than I did way back in 1990...311 freakin ROCK, can't wait to see them for my 6th time...come on back out to San Bernardino or Devore, please
"The day we turn to pop, the show will stop." -- This is why they have continued touring for the past 20+ years and will hopefully continue touring forever!
Nice, sounding like old school 311! They've always had a little bit of it in the previous albums but this reminds me of the blue album when they were really at their most favorable sound in my opinion
Easily my favorite song by these guys, and probably my favorite song ever. I find the lyrics extremely relateable and I can never get tired of this song
I like it.. i hope the rest of the album is just as good.. I love these guys their music is amazing and it makes me feel a certain way no other group can when im rocking to their jams!!
I love the all around maturity it seems this album will represent. They've had their rebellious youth, their social (cleaning up the act) young adult hood, now they are using the wisdom of years of playing music and style. Hoping for good things from this album
getting old but glad I did it with these boys from Omaha,,,since 93" - the soundtrack of my adulthood. Through gfriends (gold club/Rachel,,,what up Nick), wife and divorce...they've inspired, rocked it and even pulled me through. Mad Love...
This made my day. I have been breaking my a$$ shoveling snow to this song all afternoon! Thanks for making my day just a bit more bearable! 20 years later and you guys still rock my proverbial socks off! Can't wait for the new album!
Since I have been about 5 you guys have released great new music! The opportunity to see you guys again in my home state on 311 day will be amazing. Thank you guys for becoming a band!!
311 is one of my favorite bands of all times since I was a youngster, and I deeply like the fact that this single is not the typical "radio hit Come Original kind of song" that haunted me back in the days, as that's a clear sign that the band is only seeking for commercial revenue without caring for the artistic part ... this song seems to be a proof that we are having more of the 311 that we all love ... hopefully the other songs of the album will be as good and fresh as this one!
I LOVE THIS!!!!!! Ive listened to it at least five times already. Its very 311-y :) I cant wait to hear the others, Im very happy with this song!!!!!!!!
Yeah baby!!! The Evolution of 311 is flat out outstanding, what an incredible journey it as been. Hexum & Martinez you sound Bad "A"... "Great Song". The band never fails to deliver. "The mix is excellent gentleman." 311 - I appreciate all you do, and for always keeping it real. Its so refreshing to hear you.. That's why I listen to you everyday...! I'm so excited to have your new release, counting down the days. "StereoLythic" - 311, You Want To Get Next To Them ~
I like how this song flows a lot. Generally I don't care much for calm to loud but this song really does well with that type of vibe. I like how driving the song is like the opener. Once again, it really makes you want to keep listening. I love all the different types of jams there are in this song. Great job with this song
It took a few listens (2 or 3) before I really liked this song, But, now, I am really digging it. I can't wait to attend my 6th 311 day. It will be my 15th 311 concert.
Love the DIY sound on account of the sharp but subtle production, something Ralston was always good at bringing out of you guys. Rock music these days is often way too masturbatory and overproduced, while this sounds like you guys just went in to the hive and recorded the song live. Been a fan since '97 and will be turning 30 this year, still jammin' to some 311.
Love this song and I love these guys! Reminds me of why I love them in the first place. It does not disappoint. Thanks 311 for coming original once again! Lol Corny but true.
Sadly, 311 doesn't make it up to Canada that often. We did see them live a few years back in Buffalo. One of my all time favorite live shows. They played quite a lot of material from Soundsystem and the Blue album which are my faves. Here's to hoping songs on this new release rock out like Down, Come Original, Creatures, Freeze Time & Tribute. Also, nice to see the band releasing vinyl. Thanks for keeping true to your roots guys.
GUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ... "My brain telling me what I want - I NEED - Got five of everything, but I still PROCEED. 311 and it's fans are the tightest crew of excitables in existence .. such a tight fucking family .. 311 STYLEEEEEEEEE!
I like this song. After listening to it about 3 or 4 times its catchy. Im working on my electric bikes to this song. I do miss the 311ish voice echos though.
LOVE this song so much!! Great lyrics, Tim kills it on the guitar, and SA sounds tight!! Even more excited to hear the rest of the album if this is the single!! Nice to hear some fresh subject matter and a new yet familiar sound from 311.
I first heard of 311 in 1997, now in 2014 I would very much like to see them make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
2024
I'll be rocking this song even when I'm old. 311 is the best.
Thats what Ive always said, and now I am :) And I do....
@@bsbikes2115 Couldn't have said it better myself, but I didn't...you did...

Still staying positive and loving life. Fuck yeah, 311.
this isnt exactly a positive song

Idk honestly, I also had a friend who played them ALL the time. So I got burnt out really fast.

still kickin some ass! :)

This new song is amazing! been plain on repeat since the premiere
A classic 311 sound revamped and eclectic as only 311 knows how to make. Excited for the rest of the tracks.
Lovin some 311 @5am! ;)
No matter what I try there’s no room in my mind
No way to go round that, that’s just the way it is must I remind
I don’t pick up the phone but you still try to call
There’s nothing left to say you’ve already gotta know we’ve said it all
The story never ends, in search of something
But once we arrive it all starts again
Reaching for higher ground, the river’s rising
It keeps on flowing forever no matter what we have found
Sometimes it seems insane
To just keep pressing on
As if it will put out the flame
But still the thirst remains
Drink another drink
And somehow I still feel the same
Step off, head out, take flight, and just run
Got five of everything but I just need one
My brain telling me what I want, I need
Got five of everything but I still proceed
Help me fill up this hole
It’s gaping and out of control
It feels like I’m losing touch and it’s taking its toll
When this wall isn’t moving
State of things not improving
And no satisfaction in the distraction of the day
Sometimes it seems insane
To just keep pressing on
As if it will put out the flame
But still the thirst remains
Drink another drink
And somehow I still feel the same
Step off, head out, take flight, and just run
Got five of everything but I just need one
My brain telling me what I want, I need
Got five of everything but I still proceed
Living in this culture can be a drag
It’s just a commercial what we have
A one track mind we grab, grab, grab
We’re past being crazy, call us mad
Gone is the golden egg and the goose
And the bullshit of all hell breaking loose
We gotta hit the boost
Sip on the thick juice
Disregard the bad cards
And wake the truth
Step off, head out, take flight, and just run
Got five of everything but I just need one
My brain telling me what I want, I need
Got five of everything but I still proceed
The story never ends, in search of something
But once we arrive it all starts again
Reaching for higher ground, the river’s rising
It keeps on flowing forever
Thank you:)
311 best band in the world; love you guys!!!!!, we are waiting for ya, here in Latino America.
Such a GREAT group!!!
This is the first time I am hearing the new stuff and it's AWESOME!!!!!
Refreshing to hear some original, true sounds by one of my favorite bands.
this was the best moment of 2014 when you guys released this. cant wait for more! 3/11 day hurry!
I love these boys more today than I did way back in 1990...311 freakin ROCK, can't wait to see them for my 6th time...come on back out to San Bernardino or Devore, please
"The day we turn to pop, the show will stop."
-- This is why they have continued touring for the past 20+ years and will hopefully continue touring forever!
Has a Sound System vibe to it so far...really getting in to it and bobbing my head like Steve Butabi :D
Nice, sounding like old school 311! They've always had a little bit of it in the previous albums but this reminds me of the blue album when they were really at their most favorable sound in my opinion
exactly! its fantastic!
I love this album!!!! Someone please upload more songs from Stereolithic!!! Friday afternoon, and tranquility would be a great start!
Love it!! Harmonies both vocal and instrumental are sweet. Another great 311 song...See you guys NOLA next month!!!
Mad Love...
I have been a fan for 20 years. I love this new song and I am so stoked to hear the rest of the album! Much love and rock on!
Jams, I can always count on 311 for great music!
Great new track. Love the guitar work and lyric theme on this one. Cannot wait to hear more Stereolithic!!
Worth the wait! Perfect 311 Day. Best day of the year for me :)
Really like this, been a fan of all their albums too. Sounds great imo!!!
THANK YOU for the new GREAT jam! LOVE it! Can't wait to rock this on a road trip and make some more great memories!
Song gets better and better every time you listen to it.
Classic 311, unique catchy in it's own Vibe ... soo hoping to finally see ya'll live in Memphis at the Beale St Fest 2014
Oh just pre ordered.... good god I cant wait. 311 never lets me down.
That breakdown is super sick!! 311 For Life From Salt Lake City!
Happy 311 Day! Do a good deed for a friend and/or stranger even if it's a smile. Celebrate love. Celebrate Unity. Celebrate 311!
"StereoLythic" - 311, You Want To Get Next To Them ~
My favorite band is back! I hear the Meshuggah influence
Love this track! Carrying that classic vibe we all know and love. 311 is back!
What do you people do without 311 or that don't know of them??? Posi+ivly the greatest band ever conceived! Rock On 311!
I like how this song flows a lot. Generally I don't care much for calm to loud but this song really does well with that type of vibe. I like how driving the song is like the opener. Once again, it really makes you want to keep listening. I love all the different types of jams there are in this song. Great job with this song
amen!!!!!
The kings if hybrid music!!
God!!! Great band.... Perfect song
Been listening to this all night.
I love the new direction they are taking
It took a few listens (2 or 3) before I really liked this song, But, now, I am really digging it. I can't wait to attend my 6th 311 day. It will be my 15th 311 concert.
Love it!!! 👍👍 but let's admit it we all wanna hear the hard riffed songs on this one.
WOW GRAT SONG :) I THINK THIS IS THE EST SONG OF ALBUM
Love the DIY sound on account of the sharp but subtle production, something Ralston was always good at bringing out of you guys. Rock music these days is often way too masturbatory and overproduced, while this sounds like you guys just went in to the hive and recorded the song live. Been a fan since '97 and will be turning 30 this year, still jammin' to some 311.
Masturbatory? LOL
***** - Shoot, I will be 40 this year, & I will NEVER stop either! ... I 'found' them in college in '93 ... Favorite band, period.
311 could put out a country album and I'd still listen to them! LOL :P
Love this song and I love these guys! Reminds me of why I love them in the first place. It does not disappoint. Thanks 311 for coming original once again! Lol Corny but true.
They have mastered there own sound perfectly. Looking forward on purchasing this album
chorus is classic 311 amazing
Sick track. Makes me look forward to Stereolithic even more now.
I like it! At first I was little unsure of my opinion, but it's grown on me A LOT.
HOOOOHHH ALright!!!!! this song make my day XD
This song is getting me pumped for spring/summer.
love it. still miss that old snare pop though.
They never cease to amaze!
always kickass.. blow up my mind n make my head banging
Great new stuff from 311!!!
I love this! !! I'll always love these boys!
HAPPY :) Thanks, 311, love you guys forever!
Step off, take flight head off, and just RUN!
*Step off, head out, take flight, and just RUN!
Don't wanna be that guy, but my OCD says it needed to be corrected. Sorry.
Be positive and love your life ♥️

Great tune, fellas. Hope the rest of the album is as good as this!!!
Electric bikes?
Yep. I build and sell them. Low cost alternative for commuting to work.
Very good and rockin , sounds like a mix of previous 311
1 Month to go!! NOLA+311 DAY= Great times....Whos with me????
Great song! So many flavors in it!
The giant 11 on the cover for the 11 studio album is a great idea!
cant nobody do it like 311!
Cant wait for this album to drop 3/11 cant come soon enough
Happy 311 Day!!!
LOVE this song so much!! Great lyrics, Tim kills it on the guitar, and SA sounds tight!! Even more excited to hear the rest of the album if this is the single!! Nice to hear some fresh subject matter and a new yet familiar sound from 311.
So awesome to think this is just 1 of 15 new songs we get to feast our ears on. 311 Day can't come fast enough! :)
Finally you got the right combo of old and new sounds. Can't wait for the rest. Been here since Grassroots! Fuk the BS it's time to throw down. Peace.
