I will never forget my family driving to New Albany Indiana from Colorado every other year for a family reunion. The excitement of going to White Castle's and having a Big Red soda was a highlight of the trip. My grandparents lived in a huge white house across the parking lot of White Castles. My dad had 12 siblings and they'd always gathered to play poker and drink Coors beer when we came to town. (Coors wasn't allowed east of the Mississippi at the time, so I guess we smuggled Coors to Indiana). One evening they decided to order White Castles and sent me and my cousin Bunnie to get 100 burgers. That memory sticks to me until this day when I hear anything White Castle. I still love them and will always be a fan.

I live in Las Vegas and it’s cool how many different types of fast food and other restaurant options because people come here too live from all over the country.
Again here’s the recipe From yrs ago where in the beginning yrs how White Castle Transported them to fairs and festivals! If you look up White Castle History they will also give you this same recipe: For every pound of hamburger you will need 8 to a 12 count pkg. of hamburger buns. Also for every pound of hamburger you will need 1 egg and half of chopped onion, we like onions in my family and we use 1 for every lb of hamburger. I lb. Of hamburger chopped onion and season with salt and pepper. You can use dehydrated onions but, we like fresh. Mix the ingredients together till we’ll combined. It’s best to use a griddle pan and heat up to medium heat. Spread mixture on thin on the inside of the buns. Place inside patties down and let them cook make sure you can distinguish between the tops and bottoms, they will all not fit at one time during a cook. About 10 mins or so, they will be done and just press both the top and bottom of the sandwich together. You can add pickles and condiments to your liking! You can use this same recipe by putting a 4th of of cup of Wh. Shire sauce and make hamburger steak patties.
I was eating at the White Castle in Columbia the other day. That kinda shocked me. Staff is always sweet there. I might go by again today since watching this video I’m craving it again.
White Castle tried to expand into the Kansas City market in the 1990s. For a few years, it had four stores on the Missouri side and one in Kansas, I think in Overland. White Castle also tried expanding into Philadelphia and Cleveland. For some reason, those locations all failed. It did successfully enter Nashville.
There’s a White 🏰 Castle in my block. I live in Yonkers, New York. They always got lots of customers ordering from the drive thru. Sometimes I go there but eat at the dining room, which is barely used.
White Castle used a fresh ball of beef smashed on the grill and fresh, shredded onions in the beginning. Years later they switched to frozen patties and dehydrated onions. Even though I love WC, I wish they'd return to the original concept.
Funny thing about that 10pm-4am window of people wanting White Castle. The one in my town needed to install a concrete pillar next to the drive-thru window because drunk people kept crashing into the building.
I'm from Los Angeles and it sucks there's no white castle although they added a few locations in Las Vegas. When I lived in Atlanta, I got hooked on Krystals which have similar sliders. Probably a good thing I don't have a franchise nearby, I'd be 400 pounds.
Didn't see the other White Castle imitation called Kristle , had some in DC once. They lacked the beef tallow that is the heart of White Castle hamburgers 🍔
Krystal is nearly as old as White Castle. The chains are the number one and two oldest burger chains in the country. The man who started Krystal did get the idea from White Castle.
Have you ever been to White Castle’s and seen how they were cooked? Then, that tells you don’t exactly know the actual facts then! I grew up on them and, I do know the patties do have holes in them. I have seen them cook them before, not only once but, just about every time, I been there. And, my mom worked a restaurant when, she was young and she has the original recipe yrs ago when, they had to figured how to transport them to fairs and festivals. Yes, I am from Ohio but, my mom was from Indiana. And, later moved there. Restaurant chains, I thought got started out of Cincinnati, Ohio actually started out of Indiana.Duh, the people who do these type of videos have to have the facts before they do these type of videos or they can get in trouble big time, duh!
Living down south there's Krystals and they put mustard on their sliders. You'll eat it if you're hungry at least they have a frozen line. I just get a jar of pickles and put alot of them on there.
Holy shit! I now live in Norway but when I was a kid growing up I lived in Minnesota and one of my first jobs was working at White Castle. I was surprised when I saw in this video that you now today only get 3 White Castle cheeseburgers for $2. Or was that a menu price with fries and drink? When I was working there you got 6 for $0.99! Just burgers. When your not living in a place anymore then you really see the destructive power that inflation has. It's not all that noticable living there since it's done gradually like boiling a frog.
You guys failed to mention Krystal burger as a copy cat. I actually tried Krystal last year for the first time. It's nearly the same just a fluffier bun. Still prefer White Castle, one of few things I miss from my hometown.
White Castle is family owned. There are no franchises to be had. I worked at one for 3 yrs. Maybe things have changed but 10 yrs ago. WC was never anything but one family owned.
Like one of the people who commented I am from Minnesota as well. But I grew up in a rural area and didn’t have White Castle until I came to college Now, I live a block away from one. I don’t go there very often as it’s just not one of my favorite places to eat. And I unlike a lot of people don’t like onions on my burger. I know you can ask them to wipe the grill but that just grosses me out even more. I do like their chicken sliders though. And I like their mozzarella sticks. I also, like the fact that you can get cheesecake on a stick for about a buck. That is such a nice treat
Only found now in the central/northern Midwest. Lots of them around Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis. They used to be in the NE, but pulled out a long time ago. I don't much see them expanding to other areas.
White castle is probably the best fast food restaurant in the US. It encompasses Americana but not in the ridiculous portion sizes and the only thing limiting the individual in their own gluttony.
KFC offers chicken littles still; they were discontinued years ago, brought back as zingers, which were then called chicken littles again in recent times.
There not as good as getting them at the restaurant and, I do have the original recipe where they transported them to fairs and festivals. My mom and grandma worked together in a local restaurant yrs ago and yes this recipe is also been aired on tv via the Food Network. White Castle is a old fast food chain and, it’s that old.

Life feels empty and sad knowing the closest WC to me is a solid 10 hrs away. I took them for granted when I was growing up. There was one at the end of my street. But now, it’s like going through life in black & white when you know there’s HD everywhere else. I know the frozen ones at the grocery store are out there, but those are like being a skid row level heroin addict going to the methadone clinic. It’s just not the same.
White Castle's prices are ridiculous! I webr there today. Bought 1 slider, sm. Onion rings & sm coke. It came to $6 and change. Ridiculous for a thin burger with 5 holes, fountain sofa and onion rings.
Who hasn't grabbed some castles at midnight and carried a passed-out friend back to the car? College students still throng the place, and things haven't changed as much as you'd think in over 30 years. 😊
The one thing I never understood about the Harold and Kumar movie was... If they both lived in Hoboken NJ why didn't they just drive through the jersey city heights down Kennedy Blvd and just go there?
The 5 holes were probably also to skimp on the meat they give you in the burger. With the holes punched out, they likely save the meat to make more burgers. Makes logical sense to me. Of course the prices will still go up there as at any other burger joint.
@@BabbleTop yes😞 I wish someone would open a new white castle here. This St. George area is the place in the entire USA that has the most growth. The Ironman races take place here yearly. I literally made it 24 seconds into the video before I realized that it was trash and nothing but clickbait. If White Castle was trying to hide the fact that they have holes in their hamburgers then please explain to me why they also designed the kitchen to be open? I'm wondering who actually put this video together, a three-year-old or someone who's only experience with White Castle is buying them in your freezer section of your grocery store. This was my first and last experience with your channel.
