When taking this class, I disagreed. Now I am in debt and hate it. I've always lost money dealing with the bank on loans, but that's because I wanted to improve my credit score. I had the money in the bank, but I TOLD THEM how they would write my policy and what interest I would pay. If I couldn't make a payment, I'd go to the bank, pull money and pay off the loan. I've never carried a loan even half term. This is also why my credit average is over 855. Started with a mobile home loan paid 10 year of in 3 years, and bought my first house cash. Now with age and disabilities, had to do mortgage and buy a house and car. Just couldn't keep working on them myself.
Regarding the farmer: I would not sell the farm just yet. I would have liked more information on their situation. He can certainly go into the trades but I would tighten up on the horse business. Often if you have too many of your own horses, board money goes to pay for them. Also “training” and lessons can be done on evenings and weekends. The wife could get a day job. Kick horses outside 24/7 so you don’t have to muck stalls and pay bedding costs. Or hire a young person to muck stalls in the morning. I’ve done all of this. Where I see a lot of people go wrong with boarding is they have ie) 30 horses but 10 are there own so only 20 horses bringing in money. Just a suggestion.
Facts over feelings. Depending on the state, the first caller can absolutely file a claim against the woman's estate if there is one and it's within the statute of limitations. She'd be better off filing the claim herself because the attorney fees would be too cost prohibitive for someone in her predicament. Lol she needs to let it go. The woman is dead. This is tuition to the University of Life. She did not have the money to lend and she should have told her friend no. Now she knows. Do not lend money that you can't lose!! I hate that she had to learn like this. But her energy is better spent figuring out her situation than fighting a corpse for $2700.
In our state a person does not need an attorney to file a claim against an estate. She could just write the letter and then see what happens since she does have the agreement in writing. Then she could either choose to go further, or, if she didn't hear anything, then drop it or go to small claims court. She would be no worse off if she got nothing. Any utility company would do the same. She needs the money. She is not hurting any relationship with the other woman who is deceased.

I can't help but think that with the woman from Phoenix Dave would have said, you make $200,000 - you can't live on 100,000 and knock off that 70,000 loan in one year?
@@YouMissedBroI also can't stand how Jade almost always asks the callers if they're "okay with the advice," or "how does that sound to you?" It sounds very much like she has the "disease to please."
Most states is impossible to live and work in without a vehicle. And most people are tempted by new and shiny. Also tempted by "good deals" which turn out to be lemons or terrible loans. People are stupid and are enabling the system we have
In Europe you not only inherit the assets but also the debt. If think in the USA is the same thing, if the mother inherited the house (if she's the only reciever), she did inherit that 3000$ dollar debt.
Some people just put the person in the house trust that way if they die and own money the person on the house trust don't have to pay none for it! Maybe I am wrong I just see some videos about it.
I dont believe the pa 0:36 nel should pass judgment on the woman wanting to be repaid a debt from someone who could have repaid her and has an estate. Believe me that all the creditors are staking their claim for whats due. Whether any of them or I would is irrelevant. Just answer her question and then pass your judgemental comments after if you think it's necessary. I don't think it is because she is not doing anything legally or morally wrong. I hope she never lends money again because it's not worth either losing the friendship or worth the piece of paper it's written on. None of them are lawyers and should not comment on legal standing. She has a promisory note, and she can prove the loan was given. Im not a lawyer myself but she definitely has legal standing to make a claim.
I don't lend money. Not to say I wouldn't give $20 for gas they were working really hard and just wasn't paying attention to the gas warning. And paid me bsck the next day. Gas or picking up lunch, ok. Anything larger than that, no. I am not a bank. If the person defaults, no more money. Done with this person.
I disagree with your advice to Nicole. All she needs to do is notify their attorney including a copy of the agreement. I believe she easily has legal standing. All valid debts & bills are paid out of the estate. It will cost Nicole nothing to get this money unless there is no money in the estate.
I totally agree! $3,000 is a lot of money depending on the person’s financial situation. The hosts treated the amount like it was trivial- they might have cringed but I was waiting for some real advice
@@kathyharrison8192 i felt like they gaslighted her. It would be quite a large sum for me. I would be hurt to be dismissed like that. I hope first caller will learn a lesson to first put her own mask to save herself. But the hosts did her wrong either way 🙄 Do better.
Agreed. Ken and Jade were way off base there with giving her a hard time about it. Why is that cringey to think about getting some of that money back? Now she doesn't need to get scorched earth angry about it, but she should just file a claim against the estate much like any other creditor would in the same situation. If it goes nowhere or there isn't enough in the estate to cover it, then so be it she can move on and not fret. Nothing cringey about seeking out what is rightfully yours.
They gave very bad advice to Nicole. If they don't know, they should just say, "I'm not a lawyer, and I don't know." After someone dies, all debts are paid from what they have, including property. It is posted in the local paper that so-and-so died. If you have any claim to their property, speak up. Here's a destitute woman, and they're telling her to let $2700 go because she had words and should feel guilty that the person died. She should only feel guilty that she loaned out money she couldn't afford to give.
You can start with the books Ken has written - another great book is "Do What You Are" - the book looks daunting, but it's really not once you figure out the sections that apply to you.
I understand the psychology behind the debt snowball method, but if the interest rate is close to 30%, that debt can grow appreciably by the time the lower debts are paid off. Personally, I'd go for these very high interest rates first. It's one thing to use the snowball method if the interest rate is hovering near 9-10% which is pretty close to some student loans and personal loans, or even a little higher. But 30%? No way!
Exactly!! Even a 200,000 miles, well taken care of Honda will last a few more years depending on mileage. These people keep getting sucked into "American" cheapo cars that breakdown even with regular maintenance. GMC is absolute trash
The lady with 3 kids, no money, and a broken down car needs to be focusing on why someone who has made three kids with her isn't willing to marry her. In this case, both seem to be making the same amount of money and, I presume, paying the same amount into social security. But SO many women make the mistake of settling for being a "girlfriend" or "fiancee" (which now seems to not be related to any wedding date) and not actually marrying men who are higher earners than they. Any woman who has been married for 10 years and a day can claim on her husband's social security if he earns more than she does (which is often the case.) This is true for even divorced couples. This even goes for multiple wives and SAHMs - just as long as she has been married the requisite number of years. And her claims have no impact on his drawing his own social security.
She should've chosen a better mate when she was younger. If she was "the one," he would have already married her. Like the saying, "Why buy the cow when you can get it for free."

Jade just let it go. Even If he gets a $30k car, that insurance will be high due to his age (age discrimination) and driving experience. The best option would be $8k-$15k for an early 2000s Honda Accord or Toyota in good or excellent condition.
First Caller Nicole. OMG. Really, for 2700 bucks. I'd hire a Lawyer at 500.00 an hour, take her Trust to Court, spend 5/10 thousand dollars to possibly (low possibility mind you) get your loaned money of 2700 dollars back from someone who has died (that's sarcasm). To Jade and Ken's perfectly clear response. "Let it go. It's cringe worthy".Good grief. Lady.
I even see some people in the comments that are backing up Nicole’s decision. I didn’t realize so many people were this disgusting. My gosh. Just terrible.
@@Davefitz04I don't necessarily think it's disgusting. I think she has made bad choices her whole life and living paycheck to paycheck. That 3k will just go down the drain anyway. She needs to work on her own life
Paul, it's easy. I believe someone well-known said, "Just say no!" This is a pattern that, if you start it, may not end and almost certainly will not end well. Once a sucker, always a sucker (at least about money.)
Jane could also make some cost only videos for non-profits to build her portfolio which is a good first step in the career she is seeking. Individuals and/or companies are going to want to see what she can do.
My suggestion for the first caller Nicole with a debt from a friend with a broken relationship (friend died.) The estate will go to Probate. At Probate the Executor will be given a form to contact any individuals who might have a claim against the estate. The Executor of the estate is responsible for clearing all debts and disbursing any remaining assets. As someone who has recently dealt with TWO estates, I suggest she do the following: Send a letter to the Executor of the estate about the debt and that she is making a claim for the debt against the estate. We are not talking here about the deceased friend - we are talking about the assets of the estate and she may as well claim her share as any family member(s) who may or may not have even been close to the friend! Jade and Ken spoke as if Nicole making a claim would somehow damage further the relationship with the friend - she is dead! The Executor of the estate then has to send a letter to anyone who may have a claim against the estate, which includes non-heirs. Nicole may or may not get what she is due. However, the remaining $2600 Nicole also needs now and claiming it has nothing to do with her lost relationship with her friend which, obviously, cannot now be restored. The claim would be an impersonal one against the estate, just like a utility bill or any other creditor. If she does not know the address of the Executor, she can write a letter to the Executor c/o the friend's last known address and the post office will forward it. The RS people should not give legal advice, especially if it is in an area with which they have no experience. If Nicole does not have money for a lawyer and wants to use the services of one, she can contact Legal Aid where she is can get an attorney who will take her case pro bono.
First caller can go to Judge Judy and at least get something. But yeah I’m sure every time she thinks about it. I misses that money: it’s a lot of money for her
Still advertising the cruise as "almost 90% sold out" - 🤣 Really, the RS people should realize by now that the only people who are going to pay those prices for a cruise are those who feel the need to hang out with the RS personalities and have bragging rights (and photos) for all the extra cost!
What if they (Ramsey Solutions) would buy the trip and raffle it off. Kind of like they do the give aways. For people that are near being debt free or that recently became debt free.
@@marcosreyes1878 And they might be the people who would enjoy it the most! With their millions, they could surely afford to raffle off 10% of the spots!
OK - rebuttal time on the $30,000 car for the 23 year old from yesterday. The entire reason he HAS the portfolio he has is because he has been cautious and frugal. Several elements were overlooked in Jade's comments today: 1) ANYONE can have a disabling condition after an accident - God forbid - or develop a serious illness, even a young person. In those instances, any extra cash can vanish in nanoseconds. Never spend just because you can and want to. 2) At 23, quite frankly, it is not time yet to "live like no one else" - there is a lot of life ahead and he doesn't even have a house yet. He may also marry someone with debt or someone who wants to be a SAHM. 3) Nicer cars are magnets for thieves and take more money in property taxes and insurance - and car insurance is DEFINITELY going to be going up in the near future as cars have become so much more expensive. 4) WHAT is Jade's guarantee that his money will result in 6.5 million dollars later? The RS people need to STOP assuring the listeners that their money will "double in 7 years if you invest it in certain mutual funds." At this point NO ONE can predict what is going to happen to the economy even 10 years out, for sure not 4 decades out! If the country takes a turn towards the hard left, one thing I can ASSURE you is that we will have a major "reconfiguring" of the finances of many of us. So, yes, he COULD. But SHOULD he? No. If he wants something to spend money on, as I said yesterday, choose travel and experiences that enrich your life while you are young and have energy and health. Don't spend it on something that will end up in a junk heap one day.

Jade, I love you, but I disagree with buying a car BEFORE buying a house. Order should be: buy a cheap car in cash, buy a house, pay it off, and then save to buy a nicer car later.
Jade's car advice is still bad, guy earns 55k which will give him probably less than 4k a month after taxes, and when he moves out his costs of living will go up significantly, he won't have a ton of room with that budget. 30k car will have more expensive parts that 15k car, probably also it will need more gas as fancier cars have bigger engines, are bigger themselves. For low or medium income it will create more pressure on what is left in the budget after necessary spendings. In contrast, somebody earning lets say 200k can easier afford to have a 100k car, as there's more room in the budget after spendings
100% agree with you!!! She’s basically encouraging lifestyle creep on a young man who’s done a great job saving while living at his parent’s house. He doesn’t know what it’s like to live by himself and pay for all things that entails. It’s bad enough Jade gave the initial advice but to take another segment on another show to justify her answer is just unbelievable.
Jade, please check out the pronunciation and usage of "integral." It is INtegral and is used as an adjective with a noun following, as in "that was an INtegral part of the decision" (meaning it is essential). It is not correct to say "we are integral." I think perhaps you meant to say, we are very sequential or methodical.
Nope. The only valid use of that word is a noun to describe the opposite of a derivative in calculus. All other uses of the word integral should be banned with the possible exception of describing integers.
@@amireallythatgrumpy6508 Yes, that is the other meaning of the word. But you are not correct - check the dictionary. Using it as an adjective is also a legitimate use. (And I've taken college calculus, too.)

100% NOT TRUE. She is claiming money that is HERS against an estate. The friend is dead and can't use the money she borrowed and didn't pay back now that she is deceased. Duh!
I listened to the entire call. It’s money owed to her. The woman borrowed $3,000 and didn’t pay it back. The living woman is dead broke and losing her home.
@@Trustbutverify2651 you can't get blood from a stone. And it's a big assumption on her part that the estate even has money to pay her back with. If the dead woman had other debts (which she definitely did), those will get settled before a personal loan. There will probably not even be money left to pay this woman back with. When you loan money to broke people, don't be shocked when they can't pay it back. Dead or alive. That's why they are broke. She needs to move on with her life!
Avalanche is better unless you are immature & need little wins to keep going.. ,Serious, needing the little wins as a boost from paying off the smallest largest. Are you kidding? That is illogical
Most of the people working Dave's plan are immature. That's how they got into their financial straits to begin with. They make decisions based on emotions and how they "feel," so getting those small wins paying off the smallest debt first makes them "feel" better. If they had to do the avalanche method and didn't pay something off quickly, they'd probably give up. I agree with you that the avalanche method is better overall...just not for the majority of Dave's listeners.
This is exactly the problem with upper education Ignoring then named instution If 20 students attend a 1 semester course and pay $1000 each, that's $20000. An adjunct professor is earning LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE. A 1 semester course is less than 5 hours per week (much less, btw whatever). Lets say that's 14*5 hours x 10 dollars per hour ??? that $700 (14*5 = 70 * 10 = 700) in total cost to the university/college. If they charged $1000 per semester? That's $20,000 for 20 attendees minus the cost of the starving adjunct??? = $19,300 Ken just suggested 15-20k per semester per person That's 20*15k = 300,00. Adjunt cost did not change. PROFIT? $299,300 And I GUARANTEE that the adjuncts did not just get a pay bump. So who is responsible for the size of student loans ????????????????
You are mixing apples and oranges. The fact that the adjunct is "starving" is a personal choice on the part of the adjunct. And no adjunct earns less than minimum wage unless they are terribly disorganized in preparing their classes and evaluating student work. I taught adjunct at community college and our four-year university, but I always figured it as extra money. The rules are clearly laid out and no adjunct has a hammer over his or her head forcing the person to take the position. If an adjunct is unhappy with the pay, look for another job. No one owes an adjunct a higher salary, although most of them are complaining about the low pay. In your description you are also not counting the other costs of a college or university - buildings, overhead, insurance, administration, etc. All the costs do not just go into salaries. EVERYONE HAS A CHOICE. Students can choose many lower-cost options for college (earning credit through AP exams and Dual Credit courses in high school, CLEP tests for general ed classes, scholarships, starting at community college, finishing at a state university) and adjunct professors can also choose other professions and teach if they enjoy it part-time in evenings and online. Most people who get themselves in a financial mess do so based on their CHOICES - but they love to blame others or societal factors. CHOOSE BETTER.
@@Trustbutverify2651 Your post honestly sounds like someone with stockholm syndrome. "I saw the income as a bonus" (nb: paraphrased). Some people trying to go into being a professor full time myst see being an adjunct as their primary role, with any other roles being secondary. Want to go into industry, but are marking time as an adjunct? Totally different life path. I have known multiple induviduals on the adjunct path here in the USA, and in multiple different other countries. The adjuncts here in the US are the most underpaid and most overworked (these go in tandem - if the adjuncts were paid for all their contact hours, they would not be as "underpaid"). They also have the biggest problems trying to get onto the tenure tracks because rather than being encouraged to apply, their timetables at best are unforgiving for the time off required to travel to ther universities. I've known adjuncts dping dpordash to try and cover the difference between their salary and their cost of living. But you do you. You obviously were never interested in moving into academia, and fair enough. But you should not utterly deny other people's lived experiences
@@CormacADoyle I am not "denying their lived experiences." However, an adjunct role is generally NOT a role to a tenure-track in the same university. Check the statistics. It is an opportunity to gain experience, do research, publish, etc. However, most adjuncts who do get tenure track positions do so by applying to OTHER universities and in areas that are in demand. The best way to get a tenure-track position is to do research and publish BEFORE applying for jobs, not start as an adjunct. With the advent of so many online courses and full degrees, there will be fewer and fewer tenure track positions because adjuncts are teaching clear across the country in numerous different universities because they like teaching. Is this ideal? Absolutely not - but it's the way the future is going. Take a look at the number of universities and colleges that have closed their doors in the last five years. I don't have Stockholm syndrome - I just get tired of people whining about where they end up when it is largely due to their own choices.
@@Trustbutverify2651 The reason I mentioned that the colleges did not make it easy for Adjuncts to get tenure is specifically because it is hard to get enough time off to go out of state to a college that IS hiring tenure track. But I don't see any point discussing this further. We disagree fundamentally on whether or not Adjuncts should be able to even make basic minimum wage (when compared to working in McDonalds or similar). In other countries, Adjuncts may be stretched, but the money is enough to survive (just about) - my brother just moved from Adjunct to tenured in Prague. On the otherhand, my friend here in North Carolina just DIED of sepsis since they could not afford health insurance despite working as an Adjunct and doing Doordash/McDonalds-type jobs. It's the US College system that is broken ...
@@CormacADoyle There are inexpensive community colleges and universities out there. They have 1-semester courses that cost less than $1000. They more than likely have other jobs and are doing tutoring.

In Europe you not only inherit the assets but also the debt. If think in the USA is the same thing, if the mother inherited the house (if she's the only reciever), she did inherit that 3000$ dollar debt.

True, but a big part of this is obviously that this woman has screwed up her own life and is completely desperate, lost, and stressed.
I don't lend money.
Not to say I wouldn't give $20 for gas they were working really hard and just wasn't paying attention to the gas warning. And paid me bsck the next day.

If they don't know, they should just say, "I'm not a lawyer, and I don't know."
After someone dies, all debts are paid from what they have, including property. It is posted in the local paper that so-and-so died. If you have any claim to their property, speak up.
Here's a destitute woman, and they're telling her to let $2700 go because she had words and should feel guilty that the person died. She should only feel guilty that she loaned out money she couldn't afford to give.

Jade's car advice is still bad, guy earns 55k which will give him probably less than 4k a month after taxes, and when he moves out his costs of living will go up significantly, he won't have a ton of room with that budget. 30k car will have more expensive parts that 15k car, probably also it will need more gas as fancier cars have bigger engines, are bigger themselves. For low or medium income it will create more pressure on what is left in the budget after necessary spendings. In contrast, somebody earning lets say 200k can easier afford to have a 100k car, as there's more room in the budget after spendings

Ken, how do you tolerate it?
TOLERATE WHAT????
This is exactly the problem with upper education
Ignoring then named instution
If 20 students attend a 1 semester course and pay $1000 each, that's $20000.
That's $20,000 for 20 attendees
minus the cost of the starving adjunct??? = $19,300
Ken just suggested 15-20k per semester per person
That's 20*15k = 300,00. Adjunt cost did not change.
PROFIT? $299,300
And I GUARANTEE that the adjuncts did not just get a pay bump.

Your post honestly sounds like someone with stockholm syndrome.
But some people feel entitled to the best and best schools their friends attend. How do you know that adjunct professors are making less than minimum wage? They're part-time, what do you expect. They more than likely have other jobs and are doing tutoring.
