  • Made a lovely LFO patch on the SE02 and this jam developed out of it. Chord oscillator used on the Microfreak running through a delay and reverb. The S1 is using some noise oscillator and the noise LFO with reverb to give a nice distorted and dirty feel. The SE02 sequencer has no notes in it, but is being used as a master clock and start/stop.

Love it. Those Microfreak chords are epic. Love the wonky as shuffle too, or maybe it's the lfo. Either way it gives it great feelings.
What are you syncing stuff with, midi or CV triggers? What osxtue master?

Cheers! Yes, it’s sort of out of time but isn’t, so I didn’t mess with the patch once I liked it. These jams I just send 5pin Midi from the SE02 to a thru box then into the MF, S1 and RD8. My aim is to have a live setup of 5 devices using a controller, I have a Keystep but have rarely used it yet. I just about understand midi nowdays (have no clue about CC) Had never heard of midi 12 months ago 😅 I’ve tinkered with DAWs but I sit at laptops all day for work so I’m avoiding them at the moment!

Forgive my nosiness but have you tried taking a trigger out from the RD-8 to the clock in of the Microfreak? I believe you can change the clock resolution between 24 and 1ppq (1ppq is what you'd want). It was a trick we used way back to get sequencers to follow drum rhythms and adjust the sequence from the drum machine by removing or adding hits. Asking as I'm considering grabbing a microfreak if it will.

@ I’ve previously had the RD8 ‘play’ the MF. So notes are triggered by the RD8 pattern/sequence. There’s utility menu settings in the MF for clock, Midi, CV, Gate; global, external, local etc but I just get it to sync to the external input (the SE02 in this case). There are CV and Gate outputs on the MF too. I’ve hardly scratched the surface to be honest!

thanks. that's really helpful. It seems a hell of a lot of synth for the money and frequently updated.
