Porter was a great host, it's nice to hear Willie do some obscure songs mixed in with his hits. No entertainment like this available any more. All these different channels nowadays makes for quantity, not quality.....
Look forward to the reruns and pretty Little Miss Norma Jean she is just a beautiful Prim and proper gal and the voice goes along with her what a singer... Nice to see and hear Willie Nelson sing and speck Rose what a comedian puts a smile on my face everytime i listen to him . Porter Wagoner and The Wagon Masters all dressed up in their western outfits beautiful and even not in color the sparkle is still there unbelievable. Willie Nelson changed alot oh !!!!! My goodness but a ģreat singer song writer... Dolly Parton singing happy birthday to him was so special... I have enjoyed country music from the first time i heard it and i'm almost 75yrs.old . Porter Wagoner what a host along with Mel Tillis and great singers Hank Williams Wilf Carter Hank Snow Ray Price The great Charlie Pride Jim Reeves Granpa Jones just to name a few.... Message coming from Manitoba Canada 🇨🇦
Upon seeing some comments about Willie's immortal Trigger guitar here, it's plainly not the case. Giveaways include the solid rather than slotted headstock on this particular Martin, which appears to be a 000-18 steel string as opposed to a Martin classical, which Trigger is.
Willie Nelson is almost unrecognizable here, but his voice is unchanged through the years. Porter Wagoner has had great guests during his show. Does someone know if he ever invited Johnny Cash? It would be great to see them together
I love Norma Jean. I just think it's weird that any song she ever did.. she didn't write. So, it's hard for me to think of what she's singing as being a message from her particularly.
Hard to think Willie Nelson looked clean cut at one time. Since this was a few years before I was born (5 or 6 if I were guessing) , I've always known Willie to look more or less like a hippie.
Well, Scruggs pegs on the 5-string does Not make you an Earl Scruggs. WILLIE Always Had been a wonderful Singer and sonwriter.he did Not Neef that Outlaw Image! Little man with beautiful eyes. Very nice Show. Always enjoy the Intro Howdy Neighbors Howdy, a very Early Jimmy Morris (Driftwood) Song.
Brings back memories!
I watched this as long it stayed on love the shows.
Love these shows. Does anyone remember when Porter introduced Roy Orbison?😊
wow .. the pre-outlaw pre-weed pre-trigger shotgun willie .. such a clean-cut dude !!

Reminds me so much of the nights mom & dad watched these shows.
Interesting how Willie flicks his fingers when he strums his songs....Trigger looks brand new....I loved the Willie segments...
thats not trigger
Willy looks great...I first discovered him in the great James Caan film, The Thief

Cash didnt appear on his show until the mid 70s
OMG! Willie is such a straight here, kinda shocking to look back and see that.
After 58yrs Willie may be the only show survivor at this posting 8-2024.
Pretty Miss Norma Jean is still with us and she's still pretty, too.
Nice 👌
