    35-65% success rate sucks, and the reason most people undergo the surgery is to stop depending on meds, if you’re telling me that most people will need medication again within 3-5 years then I do not find surgery worth trying . I was diagnosed with a 2cm hiatal hernia and advised to undergo the surgery since I need everyday medication to control my GERD symptoms, after watching this and a lot of other experience videos about this surgery, I think I’ll stick with medication , if I’m still going to need it after surgery what’s the point.

      If you are going to consider surgery..check out the stretta procedure..way less invasive than the nissen

      Luis Perez they don't operate a 2cm hiatal hernia, when these are so small they don't cause any problem.

    I’ve done a lot of research and the sane doctors know that no matter how small the hernia is they could give u horrible symptoms possibly even worser than 6 cm ones it just depends on the person . mines is 2cm it is so horrible that I want to get on disability my anxiety is so childish I can’t even sit for 20 minutes straight or stand too long cause my hernia is giving me shortness of breath like no other . I went on a five hour drive and we had to stop at least once n hour because I couldn’t breath and felt very claustrophobic. Sometimes I doodoo in my sleep cause my stomach is pushing up leaving my bottom organs feeling some type of way ,not to mention my heart palpitations n blood pressure spikes but thank gosh my doctors know what’s up and told me I don’t have high blood pressure or anything wrong with my heart that it’s just the hernia and ever since I got the hernia is when all these symptoms started so I’m more than reassured. I get my surgery in three weeks and the doctors snd studies show the symptoms will subdue I wouldn’t see why not either as long as my hernia isn’t pushing against my lungs or heart or vagus nerve

      Same as above comment. I wanna know where did you do the operation and how much did it cost if possible. More importantly, how are you feeling now?

    I was born into this world 8 weeks early and the consequences were my tummy was not formed properly. I was born without the valves that keep your food down, so gastric reflux was a huge part of my life and unfortunately it still is. I had a boix-ochoa fundoplication when i was 16 years old... the operation was only a success for about 3 or 4 years and then im back to square one. The repurcissions of my surgery are having a massive impact on my life right now. My food still comes up freely into my throat and its not nice to deal with but it is manageable if you stay away from certain acidic foods. The problem i have had the last 10 years and it seems to be getting worse is being bloated 24/7. I can not pass any sort of wind/farts being stood up. Sometimes i cannot pass any wind for 3-4 days. Can you imagine.... eating 3-4 days worth of food and not being able to pass any wind??? It becomes excruciatingly painful. In order for me to try and help my body to pass wind.. i have to lay down on a flat floor... push my hands into my belly and try to manouve the wind myself. Its painful and its horrible and i cannot get any sort of diagnosis. Ive been under hospital consultations for the last 10 years and have been discharged 3 or 4 times because nobody seems to know how to help me, and no machine will highlight AIR inside my tummy. Ive suffered chronic back pain and depression has kicked in the last few years. I cry quite a lot due to the fact i just want somebody to help me. Some nights i wish i could relieve my tummy myself by popping a knife into my own tummy just to hear all of the air come out of me just like it would a balloon. Sooner or enough it does feel like my tummy will just explode as there is no where for the air to go. I dont know if the procedures were the same as they were in 1996 but id sure wish there was some kind of new technology to help me. Wish i could afford to go private to a hospital but im broke and a failure. Luckily i have my wife and 2 children who mean the world to me... but i hate them... seeing me how i am now... what i have to do on a daily basis to pass wind.... and how this operation 28 years ago has ruined me 😔 😔
    If anybody has any advice... im all ears.

      @LA-uo2zk i wish that were possible.... with gastric reflux... any liquid that goes in.... soon as i start jumping.. my food would projectile. 😔 same as running. I cant run 2 mins without having mouthfulls of old food swishing round my mouth. Ive tried handstands.... the lot. Nothing seems to help 😔

      Im not a doctor, but have you looked into operations like TIF, CTIFF, NISSEN FUNDO.... etc?

    • @leedavis6079
      @leedavis6079 2 месяца назад

      @LA-uo2zk i wish things were that simple. Every 3 months, i go to the hospital for a new doctor to say he hasnt got a clue. If i had the money, i would opt to go to a private hospital to see a specialist gastro doctor, but the way this country is going.... soon you won't be able to even see the doctors. Thanks for your concern bro.... 👍 id do anything to feel normal again 😔

    Is it common to have temporary gastroparesis post Nissen? I have had delayed gastric emptying for 3 weeks now.

    The roux ny will not solve reflux if you still have a lex esophagus , I did roux ny to divert bile from my stomach but I still get reflux symptoms first of all because I have gastroparesis and second because I have a lex esophagus , so roux ny alone will not solve any type of reflux.

      What do you mean by les esophagus? Do you mean your LES pressure is below normal in the manometry? How much is yours? Mine is 42 mmhg.
