2 YEARS POST OP UPDATE: Hi Everyone, I haven't posted a video in a long time but I've had many requests from people asking how I feel now. My surgery was a success and has given me my life back. I feel wonderful and haven't had any issues with my hernia or GERD. -I can throw up, no issues -I can weight train and exercise. I just personally don't do any pull ups to not put strain on the wrap but I do other abdominal exercises. You can risk it but this is just my preference. -I can burp no issues and with no baby barf -I haven't had any children yet so I can't say I know if pregnancy will impact the wrap or not but I've heard a mix of experiences. -My stomach capacity is much more normal now after 2 years. I consume between 1500-2000 cal a day no issues. If I eat too MUCH then I will feel pressure on my wrap and then I'm uncomfortable for a short bit but it goes away.
My HH/TIF is next week Feb 4 and want to thank you so much for posts. I really appreciate your time and your detailed experience. It helps so much for those of us who are seeking surgical relief. Take care and continued success!
@@claypro5046 it went very well. I'm finishing up with week 4 today and begin week 5 tomorrow. Not one reflux since surgery. The HH surgery was awesome! I don't know how much of my stomach was actually in my chest, but I noticed right off I can actually take deep breaths now! Oh and I've lost 2o lbs! All in all it was way worth it so far! Thx for you interest. R u having it or have you had it done?
@@claypro5046 oh the worst is over after 2-3 days. You get some good drugs, too. So, no worries! I'm actually waiting here at my surgeon's ofc for my 4 week post-op. But I really don't need it. My HH spots are all healed and I feel really good. Both procedures were amazing to me. It is life-changing. Especially the amount of food you can eat at one time. Ive not felt hungry once since. Loving the weightloss even though I'll probably gain some back when I go back to normal eating. Oh well.
I want to know if you can eat a cheeseburger fries, steak meatloaf, Baked chicken, pork Chops boiled dinner corned beef...Meats Meatballs spaghetti Italian sausage
Hi Alissa. After my second surgery, I’m still not well. No GERD but now they’re saying I have esophageal spasms. Dry heaves whether I eat or not. The surgeon sent me back to the GI Dr. He’s sending me to motility specialist. I’m getting the run around. I got all my records and discs and time to get another opinion. I’ll keep you posted ❣️
thank you for the updates I am due to have this surgery on 10-10-24 I hope things go well for me , Iput this off for so long but you get tired of being sick . mine was after i would eat i would need to lay down.
@@Alexis_005 I never ended up getting it.. I sort of ran into an issue. I have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and the only way I manage it is eating and I can't do that during the recovery period. So none of the docs I was dealing with knew exactly what to do in this situation.. I have to wait and speak to an endocrinologist about this kind of situation 😐
Thank you for posting your surgery and recovery experience. I’m about to have this surgery so your information is valuable. I hope your surgery continues to be a success ❤
I just had this done along with my gallbladder removed five days ago, they also had to cut my pyloric muscle due to having severe gastroparesis. I have hardly any pain except for my right side that’s currently in pain. I’m down six lbs in the past five days too which is awesome :) I’m excited to see how I feel once I’m fully recovered! :) I’ve had acid reflux my whole life but was diagnosed officially 17 years ago! It’ll be nice to be off of the PPI eventually once everything is healed :)
@@nasirnadeem4275 not good at all! I keep having dysmotility issues, have to go in for an endoscopy in two weeks to see what’s going on. I have the urge to gag with everything I eat, can no longer burp and feel even worse post op. Thanks so much for asking :)
@@nasirnadeem4275 Aw thanks so much! It’s where the food is sitting in my upper esophagus, it’s a condition in which the muscle of the digestive system do not work properly. There isn’t any cure but there’s some medications I’m sure I could try taking. Curious how my endoscopy will go, this is like my tenth one LOL
Thank you alissa for sharing your experience it helps alot in having an idea and in case i dont have any solution with gerd i would do the surgery right away
@@foard82 very good. The first night was rough. I actually got sick from anesthesia even though they put antiemetic meds in the mix. Once I got past the shoulder pain , migraine and nausea I have been doing so much better! Thank you for asking
@@lfsilva I had my surgery Monday. And was released from the hospital Tuesday evening and have been without pain medication until about an hour ago. My doctor called it in at two different pharmacies and they were out.
@@alexandrefelipe5147 hello, I’m actually feeling great. I do have some days ( which are far and few) that I still have bad acid/heartburn. Or feel nauseous. But overall the best decision I made
Hey there :) thanks for your update videos, it really helps me through my recovery. I’m now almost 5 weeks post op and still have some trouble swallowing. How long did it take you to eat normal again without food getting stuck? And how are you today?:) Thanks and regards from Germany 🙏🏼
Hi Alissa, thank you for your videos. Glad to know that your surgery was a success. You are so lucky! At what weeks/ months, if you can recall, you were able to vomit/burp. Thank you.
Thank you for these videos. I have terrible acid reflux for the past 6 years and I have to take Pepcid max strength twice a day or else it feels like I’m dying from the acid pain. Even when I take the medication regularly and on time, a lot of the time I still get acid reflux throughout the day and need to take tums or pepto. Sometimes nothing helps it’s so bad and I’m just in pain all day. I’m considering getting this done.
You take care of it Jesse? I feel the same way most days, but I also get occasional bloating and sometimes nauseau. I'm also taking Pepcid Max. It's not enough. I was taking PPIs for years before and that helps more but I heard long term does some damage.
@@realgold8290 I managed to wean myself off all my medications except my omeprazole 40mg (taken daily). Now I am able to eat almost anything (except spicy foods, although I seem to do well with barely spicy foods and I limit how much chocolate I eat. I’m hoping it never gets as bad as it was again. I think what helped me the most is that I took probiotics for a while, then I regularly drink “throat coat tea” (that’s the actual name of the tea), and I eat a lot of noosa yogurt lol. Atm though through most days, I feel great now. I tried stopping the omeprazole too but come about day 3 I was in really bad shape. I was taking omeprazole 40mg, and a maximum strength Pepcid (twice a day) but that made me feel terrible like my food wasn’t even digesting and instead was rotting in me. I’m very happy I’m down to just omeprazole. I’m not sure about everyone but for me, it seems like I was lacking the layer of mucus on my throat that protects against the splashing acid, so when I drink that tea (like once or twice a day), eat a spoonful of honey or two throughout the day, and eat yogurt, it seems to keep that protected layer and helps me be ok with all other foods.
@@snipdiesel210 good to hear man. When it's uncontrolled it's a nightmare. I'll have to look into this "throat coat tea" might add it to my regimen if it helps. 👍 By the way I've never seen Omeprazole 40 mg. You must be taking 2 tablets? The packages I get from the drug stores are only 20mg.
@@realgold8290 yea, I felt like I was dying, so for it to of improved to where I’m at now is a miracle. The 40mg omeprazole is one tablet but it has to be prescribed. It’s also cheaper. I get like a 3 month supply for around $12 after my insurance
Hi! I'm glad you basically feel fine, as if the surgery barely happened! :) How do you feel as of now, when 10 months passed? I have acid reflux/GERD, and, couple months ago shortness of breath/asthma like symptom kicked in too, I feel it every day, so I'm really thinking about having the surgery done. Do you have any knowledge from your Doctor/Doctors, on how long lasting this surgery is? I've read some scientific works on it, and some people have to repeat it in 3 to 5 years, some don't in 20 years having it, but maybe you heard something different? Thanks and keep feeling better to that 100%!
Hello. I also just had nissen surgery 1 months ago. The only thing that makes me uncomfortable is that i feel full very quickly and have chest tightness after eating . i wonder it over time i will be able to eat more and not have chest tightness every time i eat . i hope you will reply
I would love for you to do a video of things that you ate while you were in recovery! As well as vitamins or supplements that you took to help you recover.
Hello! I didn't really take any vitamin supplements. I wasn't deficient in anything and got what I needed from whole food ingredients. I stuck to making a lot of blended soups, jello, pudding, broth. I'd boil veggies and stay away from sugar, dairy, and bread for a while. I chose to have canned chicken because it was already shredded and easy to consume. Or I'd choose to do ground meat instead of steaks. As I healed and inflammation went down, I incorporated normal foods again (whole bread, steak, etc). I eat a well balanced diet now, no issues.
I’m getting fundoplication on the 6th March but worried because doctor says my belching might get worse he says I’m doing that because of the acid coming up did yous have the same problem?
@@tartanarab9666 i found my belching has gotten much better. Before surgery I belched really terrible and my diaphragm would spasm sending me into fits of belching and/or hiccups sometimes Lsting an hour or two. I dont have that problem now. I even got pregnant and had a baby last april and didnt have to deal with heartburn. It really has been one of the best decisions ive made for myself, to have the surgery. Hope all goes well for you!
Hi there, I am commenting on my sons you tube. Can you tell me did you have the full wrap as some do part wraps and did you have open surgery or laparoscopic. Thank you so much for your information, it’s helping with anxiety pre op x
Hope you are doing great now , thanks for uploading this ! Looks like it’s been a year since your last update. Would be great if you could post an update on how are you doing.
Hi Alissa, been trying to find this video for ages, got Acid Reflux for years, and considering for the Nissen surgey. Just worried about the stitches would break or loose. What do you think? And how are you now?
Hi I’ve just finished watching your vlogs regarding the Nissan, I was just wondering how things are going and if you wouldn’t mind answering a few questions, like did you have a lot of swallowing problems after the operation and if you are still having any problems or if you could offer some useful advice.
I watched ur 1st video and I've been pondering getting the procedure, I've been on everything and it really sucks not being able to grab a burger, beer or anything fast food related and even just sandwiches make me get indigestion or a lump in my throat, trouble swallowing, etc, sleeping 4 pillows stacked w a neck pillow and still no relief! Argh! I live in South Texas and hear there are good doctor's down here but mine unfortunately loves to feed me ppi's rather than fix my problems.
Alissa Christine the pills are not helping the situation but I am quite put off by horrible testimonials on here, out of you and trot brown, everything seems to be a disaster. I don't know if it's because you'll were so young, I've seen that the older u are, the scare tissue can tend to be a little aggressive in over compensating for my old butt. And possibly hurt me. But I'm happy to hear of your success and thankful for ur story. Thank you so much
@@grandfury5609 I would suggest looking into the Linx and TIF. Those are two other procedures that have greatly helped people with their GERD. Maybe one of those might be better?
Alissa Christine yes the Tif procedure definitely I'm going to check with my Dr next month 😊 but the Linx I've also heard horror stories, crazy stories, I heard someone got a MRI and it ripped up their esophagus. SCARY! Thanks again.
Hi Alissa. It’s Phyllis. I sent you a text on your last video. I had my Nissan Fundoplication 10 weeks ago. This past Monday 6/15 I had to have an Endoscopic surgery because the Dr made the wrap too tight. After a barium swallow I was told I also had a Schatzki ring. So since my surgery on Apr 30 I had been miserable with chest pain, vomiting food that was stuck and not able to eat. Today is sat 7/20 and I’m finally able to eat a little more than a liquid diet. No more Gerd. I hope you are doing well. Get back to me if you can ❤️
Alissa Christine I’m feeling a lot better now. It’s been so long. I still can’t eat meats or bread. Longing for the day I can enjoy a decent meal. My boyfriend wants to take me out to dinner, however I feel that since my diet is still so limited it would be a waste of money. I do have to have Carpal Tunnel release surgery but I’m waiting a while. It’s just to much for now. I suffered from excessive flatulance and belching but after the 2nd surgery it seems to have diminished. Looking forward to be able to exercise again. I feel like laying around has made my belly grow. Ugh. I didn’t lose weight. Hope things are well with you ❣️
I am glade that you are doing better. I think that you look great. I had both the HH and the TIF done. 1st 2 days were hard but starting on day 4 things got a lot better. I am now on day 26th. Anyway thank for sharing your experience and again you look great!!
I will be having the surgery in couple weeks, little nervous but after hearing you talk about how well yours went I’m excited now to have it done. I have a good size hernia and I have had acid reflux bad for 5 years. It will be great to not have severe reflux anymore. My question is how long it take for stomach swelling to go down ?
samuelt09 hi! I hope your surgery goes well! Most swelling went down by week three. You might have bloating due to gas getting trapped but that passes. Don’t get too excited to eat food just because the doctor says you can move onto soft foods. Start in SMALL qtys. It can get stuck and it’s very uncomfortable if so but it does pass.
I just had this surgery 7 days ago and I am so depressed because of my difficulties swallowing. I feel like I’m choking on cream of wheat, wondering if I’ll ever be able to eat food again. Every thing I feel is getting stuck in my throat. Thank you for sharing these videos
I had my surgery on August 28, about 2 weeks ago. Didn't your doctor tell you to be on a strict liquid diet? Cream of wheat seems like it would be too thick at this point. I've basically just been living on smoothies and puree soups since I got home from the hospital and haven't had any issues. I hope you feel better soon!
@@greginthesouth2621the doctor said clear liquid first week and to soft diet second week such as mashed potatoes, etc. Guess am just not ready for that yet. Thank you for your response
I had this surgery in 2015 and I had complications but that was due to the surgeon…I can burb, throw up and massive dry heaving…I was given a PPI right after but I now take it twice a day BUT I still get heartburn!!! Mine didn’t last unfortunately…food gets stuck no matter how much I chewed the food 😢
I'm so sorry for your experience. I am going in tomorrow for a HHR, and partial fundoplication. So, I'm looking forward to some relief. I start fasting in 20min lol. So last little snack for me. Good luck for the future and thankyou.
@@cate9353 yes I had a HHR as well..mind you it’s supposed to be out patient surgery but I was hospital for 4 days due to all the complications..example, they collapsed a lung on me..I don’t want to scare you..this was just my experience…it was nice not to have the symptoms for a while though!!! I wish you nothing but luck 🍀 and let me know how it goes for you 🙏🥰
Hi Alissa im in a similar dilemma barrats oesophegus, 6cm sliding haital hernia , grade c oesophagitis i have to have another endoscopy , ppis arent working for me pondering nissen fundoplication
This helps me a lot I have surgery in June 2021. I’m a little nervous I had my gallbladder removed. So I’m thinking the surgery will be similar. I know the gas is gonna be a problem after. Thank you for making this video. I have a esophagus motility dissorder so my swallow is already kinda bad. So they are giving me a partial wrap. I’m hoping this help with everything
I had the NIssan 9 months ago exactly. For 10 days i have had pain and like a burning sensation horrible feeling. Trying to figure out if it is food related or anything else like lifting(Im a plumber). Christmas I had it for a while too I was eating cakes and pies and sweet things. Recently was my birthday and yes sweet things again. I wondering. I had my semi annual cat scan for a tumor they removed in my stomach in Aug 2018 doctor says all looks good there and the Nissan looked in tact too. I don't think its heartburn. An endoscopy showed (nov 2020) redness and inflammation in the stomach that they were not concerned about so I am wondering if any of you had similar issues with burning or irritation months after the Nissan. Well thanks for your video great update!
Have you ever looked into gastritis? I know it can be painful and typically diet related. I'd maybe look into an anti-inflammatory diet for a little to see if that helps at all. I haven't had any burning sensation in the form of acid reflux but I have had normal heart burn from spicy food. The only time I've had issues of feeling uncomfortable has mainly been if I eat too much too fast. I get extra bloated and it's painful and tight on the wrap. Sticking to smaller meals is ideal and puts less pressure on the wrap. After all, your stomach is now smaller in size. Over time it will expand and you can eat more normal sized meals but everyone has a different experience.
Will you do a video or comment on what kind of diet you had to be on after the procedure, please? I got diagnosed with a hiatal hernia back in 2001. My gastroenterologist suggested way back then that I have the same operation. I chose not to because I'd just went through 3 major hand surgeries due to a work related injury. Then I lost my insurance in 2004, I never signed up for Obamacare and just got insurance back in 2016. It's only gotten worse. Sometimes I'll have severe acid reflux for 5 days straight while taking Zantac, Prilosec and Mylanta. I am terrified of what my esophagus must look like and wonder how many ulcers I may have considering I've dealt with this for almost 2 decades. I wake up at night sometimes choking on acid/food that I ate 6 hours prior to laying down. Also, did they use mesh in your surgery? Here on the East coast (NC), mesh has caused a ton of problems. I am scheduled to have this procedure on November. I am not overweight, in good health, normal BP but my weight does fluctuate more than most people. Like, I could lose 10 pounds on the weekend by accident.
Tommy Dozier Hi Tommy! After surgery for the first few weeks you are on a strict liquid diet. You can’t really get anything done of real food anyways and it’s painful to try so it was: tomatoe soup, broth, juices, electrolyte water, tea. I would buy like ham and pea soup and blend it down to a liquid to consume. Moved to a soft food diet. Pasta. Rice. Boiled veggies. Strangely eggs were difficult to eat for a while. But after 4-8 weeks I have a normal diet. I eat whatever I want. Tomatoes. Hot sauce. Coffee. Alcohol. Steak. You name it I can have it no issues. My esophagus sphincter wasn’t closing. Partly due to my hernia. I also found I have a genetic condition called Dysautonomia. I had issues with my pyloric sphincter when I was a baby and it makes sense for why my esophagus sphincter wouldn’t shut. If you have the insurance I’d recommend the procedure. You’ll get your life back. I felt the surgery was worth the risk. My grandpa died of esophaguses cancer and I watched a friend of mines mother go the same way. If this surgery can help you I’d do it. Or at least explore similar options : Linx. tif. They never used a mesh on me. And I don’t know if a mesh is common for a Fundoplication. I know years ago a mesh was common but I think they have gotten better. They use your own stomach to wrap around the esophagus. They stitched up my hernia. Maybe for larger hernias they have to use a mesh. If you are on Facebook there is a Nissen Fundoplication group. They have a lot of information. And you can ask people with similar experiences.
Thank you for discussing some of the common questions we have in regards to this surgery. My question that I can't get an answer to is WHY you can't vomit, why you can't burp and why is there increase in flautunce. I had my surgery a year ago and felt so much better immediately. But now that I've started abusing what food I eat I do not feel as healthy. But I have IBS and need to really watch my diet so nothing relates to the surgery. I'm so glad I had it. But I still have the why questions. Does that happen because of surgery
With a fundoplication they wrap it so tight that I've heard with throwing up it's like throwing up through a straw because that space is now much smaller. I've not had a reason to throw up since having surgery so I may be able to just hasn't occurred. I've heard of people puking just fine but your chest just hurts more then usual after. You wouldn't want to do it right after surgery either it could impact the healing process of the wrap. The gas issue for me got better after a few months, especially once I could burp again around the 6 month mark. But if you can't burp, gas has to leave the body another way - que more gas. I think people don't realize how often they would do small burbs throughout the day before surgery. It's just not something people think about.
Alissa Christine how could i contact you on social media. I was diagnosed with hiatal hernia and they’re wanting to do some test to see if surgery will help. I’ve been in misery for a year. Was wondering what types of pain if any the hiatal hernia created before surgery ?
Thank you for sharing your experience with the surgery. I would like to know what kind of shakes you had after surgery. What you ate and drank the first month after you went home.
Lots of broth, protein shakes (I stayed away from dairy for a month), pudding, jello, tomatoe soup or any soup that can be blended or smooth. Cambells soup has a ton of options.
Hi, I was wondering if you ever had a lump like sensation in your throat along with the esophagitis before your procedure? And if so, did the surgery take that feeling away? I’m 25 and my story is very similar to yours. I’m in the middle of a bad flare up, I’ve been bed ridden for days, I’ve lost 14 points, and the ppi’s just aren’t working. I’ve been thinking about looking into getting surgery
I would definatly consult your doctor about your interest in the procedure. Sometimes the lump sensation can be considered dysphasia or your feeling swelling. Theres several different gastro surgeries - Tif, Nissen, linx, .Look for the one that suits your needs.
Hi Alissa thank you for sharing your experience. I wanted to ask i had my surgery about two weeks ago, and my main issue is food being stuck while I swallow and it’s terrifying. Is that something that should get better later or should I go back to my doctor?
Thank you for sharing your experience which is really helpful. It’s my fourth week after surgery and I’m so pleased to hear from people like yourself that are back to eating mostly ‘normally’ bless you x
ever had throatache and vocal cords issues and the globus (lump) sensation in your throat from reflux?if so did they clear post surgery?that s my issues and thinking about surgery because i can t tollerate pronton pump inhibitors
Hi! Nope, no issues here with those but I've heard of people who have. Acid can be problematic for peoples vocal cords over time. I did have sinus issues though.
@@alissachristine250 yes sinus too, running nose in the morning and if i swim more than 1 hour the second hour i get sinus while swimming.did sinus issues clear now?i guess if they do all vocal tract is protected as well now
lobba123 Hey thought I was alone I have the sore vocal cords and globus sensation daily, have been considering the nissen fundoplication for months but have been told I might experience dysphagia due to poor oesophageal motility. I have a hiatal hernia and very very weak LES! Suffering most of the time. Alissa Christine did you have bad oesophageal motility?
Hi. How are you now? The main fear i have is what if i cannot throw up if needed(i am used to it), and what if u cannot eat normal after surgery. How ar eyou now.
Alissa Christine im sorry I was so excited to ask questions I did before I watched the video. I meet with my surgeon Wednesday before the esophagus mobility test and 24 hour PH test. They are my last tests so hopefully surgery will be soon. I’m so tired of vomiting.
@@gailsnyder210 did you have the surgery done? I'm thinking about it too, but then again, the surgery lasts for 3-15 years, most of the time, and the second one, the redone, is usually more risky.
lemonscure I had the surgery June 27th and I still have GERD nausea and esophageal spasms. During surgery I got a collapsed lung and came home on oxygen. I no longer throw up but instead I have dry heaves. Also the shoulder pain that often comes with laparoscopic surgery never has gone away. I’d say mine was a big fail.
what about taste in your mouth especially in the morning ? sometimes my mouth is hurt because of acid reflux and my teeth health is awfull gums are bleeding crazy
Hello! Question. Can you make a video explaining how you went about your diagnosis of your hiatal hernia? I have loved all your videos and they’ve been very educational for me. If you can’t make a video please let me know in the comments!
Hi Alissa your video update was great. I'm suffering pretty bad with acid reflux I'm having a 24 ph manometry on the 12th April 2021. My dr has said that I need a fundoplication but whats to see the results of the manometry. I pretty scared but hoping the surgery will help. My Dr said my barium swallow showed acidxrefluxxatcghe bottom en of my gullet but no hernia. I am so worried about everything all I want is for this acid to stop the 🙄
hi there readers ...does anyone feel like refluxed food stop in the middle and can not go any further up ...idk just like having a third sphencter in the middle of esophagus
how long did it take for your stomach capacity to normalize? i had surgery 3 days ago and i'm full so fast. I saw in your comment that after 2 years its normal but will I have to wait that long? I do bodybuilding and sometimes I try to eat to grow, so I am a bit worried I won't be able to eat high amounts of foods anymore.
Are you still answering questions here? I'd very much appreciate it. I may need this surgery. I've had reflux for 10 years and been for 4 scopes. They found a 2cm hiatal hernia and mild gastritis. They refused to operate on my hernia saying it wasn't big enough and I didn't have servere enough damage to my throat to warrant it. My last scope was 3 years ago and this year I have been waking with nausea, stuff in my throat, sore throat heartburn, sinus problems and tight chest (as though I have asthma) as well as a gnawing pain in my stomach sometimes. It's been getting worse and worse. Is this similar to what you had with your hernia? I'm currently on 20mg Omeprazole, anti nausea medication and I also take sucralfate (absorbs bile, acid and lines the stomach). My doc wants to do another scope and see what's going on. I'm terrified of the surgery - I have such terrible health anxiety and with covid I'm so scared of going to hospital. The pain is also going to make me anxious. I hate vomiting and I'm so scared I will! Please can you give me advice?
Hi! I am! I think getting another scope done would be smart and if you did go in for the surgery they would have that current record to reference. I had my scope done maybe 6 months before my surgery and that’s when they discovered my hernia. Meds didn’t help me much. It was found out during my surgery that I had a motility issue. My esophagus sphincter stayed open all the time so I would have needed surgery anyways to every correct it. I didn’t throw up from surgery. Sure some nausea but I didn’t throw up for the first time until a year and a half post surgery. I had Terri me sinus issues, constant sore throat, nausea, sometimes aversion to food or quickly becoming full. Gastro issues also can intensify anxiety conditions. Gut health is super important to mental health and I feel much less anxious now then I did before having surgery. I was very pleased with the surgery and would do it again if I had to. Yes it’s painful but it can be tolerable With pain meds. I was only in them less than a week and back to a regular diet within 3 months. First month is always the hardest.
Also if you are concerned about Covid maybe wait until after you’re fully vaccinated? Some hospitals take no Covid cases. So maybe inquire about that with the surgical center. I was in and out of the hospital in the same day.
You are very helpful I have been diagnosed with a hiatal hernia stage 3 oesophagitis and multiple polyps which shook me because I have always eat healthy etc etc did you have stomach polyps as they say medication can cause them they took 2xs biopsy that came back non cancerous but im still not happy with the way I feel I'm on 40mg omoprezole once a day but don't wish to take them but at this moment in time I have no choice I have to heal my oesophagitis up the pain was horrendous but now I don't the best thing to do surgery had got to be my best option life is miserable for now but would be much worse without omoprezole your videos are positive thank you 💜
I never had polyps but they did take a biopsy my first endoscopy to check for cancer. My grandfather died from esophagus cancer so we wanted to rule it out. My hernia was found during my second endoscopy and at that point medication never worked for me. After my procedure my surgeon told me my esophagus sphincter wasn't closing at all, just stayed open. So no matter the medication nothing would have worked for me unless I got the surgery. My own doctor didn't think I was a good candidate for the procedure but I didn't feel like he had my best intentions at heart.I let the surgeon be my second opinion and I was glad to just even start the conversation with them.
No issues with core work. Ran a half marathon and do HIIT often. I have and will always stay away from pull ups. Every trainer I’ve worked with I’ve expressed it’s the one thing I won’t do as to not hurt the wrap.
Bruh you look like Florence Pugh. But yeah I’ve had a rough few years with this hiatal. Thinking ima just starve myself a few months see if the weight drop takes some pressure off the hernia. Try and make some drastic changes before I resign myself to seek out surgical intervention.
Hi Can you suggest the hospital name and surgeon that conducted NF surgery on you? If shove comes to push, why run around. Your suggestion can help. Thanks)

Jason Gilmore ask your doctor to recommend you to speak to a surgeon. If medication doesn’t work for you, then it’s not helping the situation.
Alissa Christine the pills are not helping the situation but I am quite put off by horrible testimonials on here, out of you and trot brown, everything seems to be a disaster. Hello Allissa. Would you be so kind as to please make an update on your stomach now after 5 years. We are really curious on how you are doing
Get back to me if you can ❤️
Phyllis Corrigan hi! Sorry to hear about it being too tight but glad they were able to fix it :) you must feel so much better!

I'm dealing with the same thing it's horrible I think eventually.

Thank you for making this video. I have a esophagus motility dissorder so my swallow is already kinda bad. So they are giving me a partial wrap. I’m hoping this help with everything
Hey Irene, how did the surgery go? How are you feeling?
Alissa are you off medicine and how u feeling right now I’m going to have surgery next week
Hi I’m thinking about the surgery , It’s been 4 years since surgery , how are you doing and feeling

@@alissachristine250Hi Alissa whats your condition now you can eat normally
Hi, I was wondering if you ever had a lump like sensation in your throat along with the esophagitis before your procedure? And if so, did the surgery take that feeling away? I no longer throw up but instead I have dry heaves. Also the shoulder pain that often comes with laparoscopic surgery never has gone away. I’d say mine was a big fail.
Who did your surgery?
Did have sore throat before the surgery and how long did it take to heal after surgery
Can we eat fast food after this surgery
Would love an update !

Hello! Question. Can you make a video explaining how you went about your diagnosis of your hiatal hernia? I have loved all your videos and they’ve been very educational for me. If you can’t make a video please let me know in the comments!
Hi! I had an upper endoscopy done and it was discovered during the procedure.
Alissa Christine yes this is so helpful thank you!
I just had it done and still have reflux is that due to inflammation?
How are you now?Can you please make a update video?
Hi Alissa your video update was great. I'm suffering pretty bad with acid reflux I'm having a 24 ph manometry on the 12th April 2021. My dr has said that I need a fundoplication but whats to see the results of the manometry. I pretty scared but hoping the surgery will help. My Dr said my barium swallow showed acidxrefluxxatcghe bottom en of my gullet but no hernia. I am so worried about everything all I want is for this acid to stop the 🙄

Who is your doctor?
Can you smoke after this surgery?
how long did it take for your stomach capacity to normalize? i had surgery 3 days ago and i'm full so fast. I saw in your comment that after 2 years its normal but will I have to wait that long? I do bodybuilding and sometimes I try to eat to grow, so I am a bit worried I won't be able to eat high amounts of foods anymore.
Different for everyone. I still eat smaller portions but much more normal then just post surgery. I’d say a few months to a year.
Hey Rick how are you doing now? Are you able to still workout ?
May l ask you how are you doing now with your nissen thanks a lot!!!
How about hard core exercising..like crunches, running, weights etc
No issues with core work. Ran a half marathon and do HIIT often. I have and will always stay away from pull ups. Every trainer I’ve worked with I’ve expressed it’s the one thing I won’t do as to not hurt the wrap.
How are you now ?
How long does it take till you can eat normal again I use to love my pizza lol I had toupet fundoplication
I m from india i have hitus hernia 3 cm... In india hitus hernia surgery is not successful so what i do mam... In in depression
who said it is not successful
Bruh you look like Florence Pugh. But yeah I’ve had a rough few years with this hiatal. Thinking ima just starve myself a few months see if the weight drop takes some pressure off the hernia. Try and make some drastic changes before I resign myself to seek out surgical intervention.
Can u lift heavy weights or will that cause unwrap
Was anyone on here that had the surgery, have a Hoarse voice due to acid reflux, if so, did your voice clear after the surgery
Did you get the full 360?
Hi
Can you suggest the hospital name and surgeon that conducted NF surgery on you?
If shove comes to push, why run around. Your suggestion can help.
Thanks)
Privacy reasons. My procedure was done in San Luis Obispo, Ca. I speak with people all over the world and my surgeon is not the only one who does it.
Great video
