Hello Paolo,
I have been playing keyboards in a band in the middle to the end of the 70th and Deep Purple was one of the covers we were playing. I practiced Jon's solo of Burn for sure 200 times and always was unhappy with my performance. The critical part is the middle of the solo where the right and left hand are playing complete different melodies. I always was fascinated that Jon can do so. Watching your hands, especially the left, you are not playing all the tones we hear. Means you have programmed some tone by hitting a single key as you too are not able to play two independent melodies live - what I fully understand. Many, many years after the 70th and me failing playing the solo as it is recorded (not the live version), a cologne based music technician, who partly worked with Deep Purple in the 70th, told me that the recording of the solo was merged from 2-recording. If you watch the available live streams of Burn, you will notice that the second melody is played in detail by the guitar - having an organ sound. It is no complain, especially not against Jon who to me is the best keyboarder ever. Victor

Hi Victor, and thank you. Yes of course the Master Jon Lord overdubbed his solo on the studio version.. in fact I have never seen him use both hands live. As for my solo, live I ever use a pitch-shifter effect pedal for the second synth part.. In fact I believe that to play solo in the same spirit as Jon Lord you need to listen to all his live versions.. (Live In London, Made In Europe, Gratz, California Jam, etc.. and also the versions from the 1991 tour..) 👋
