Actually I just bought the 2TB version with heatsink. I was cheaper for me to buy 980 Pro and the heat sink fully installed together, then to buy then separately.

Just bought the 2TB version since it's on sale for $198. Was sick of deleting games off my system to make room for new games I wanted to play or old ones I wanted to revisit.

I can't even get the screw off.. no screwdriver I use is working.. its almost like the screw is stuck.
Yeah I had to use needle nose pliers to loosen it up at first. I didn't want to risk stripping the screw.

Does anyone tried to update the firmware of this SSD with a heatsink? There are some reviews that It needs to be updated before putting to PS5 to met maximum the writing and reading speed. But the issue is I think I should not remove the original heatsink due to warranty.
Curious to know if the PC update is still required to utilize the full power of this pig on the PS5
If you are concerned about the warranty try taking it to your local Best Buy or GameStop a retailer you can trust and let them do it as 1 it’s done by a professional and 2 if they break it they are at fault and the warranty won’t be void

Question for everyone that installed the Samsung SSD to their PS5. I read a few places that the "firmware" needs to be updated prior to being installed and other sites say its just a plug and play straight out of the box. Has anyone update their SSD before install and if not, any issues?
I didn’t have to update, it was pretty much plug and play for me
@@albertoablang72 Thank you. I won't get it until 12/29/2022 and not install it into the system until 12/31/2022. From the sites it says its just plug and play but an update of firmware "can" increase speeds

@felix mitchell thank you. I just installed it and it worked right out of the box. But i talked to a computer place and they said I can update the firmware and it might give me a little more speed
@@jacobb54 ita pretty much plug and Play, if you buy it and put it straight in the ps5 the speed of the ssd is set to 5500. If you want to utilize the ssd to the max potential you have to plug it in to your pc and update the firmware to unlock the 7000 writespeed.
Im so pissed. Got ps5 yesterday and my samsung 980 pro with heatsink. I couldnt get the M2? Screw off so took it to best buy today. They told me it was too big 😒like... What? And to try buying rhe same ssd from best buy instead. My hype and joy of easily being able to play a ps5 was crushed. I need ppl who can actually help 😢

what were the readings for the ssd on the ps5?

By the way, with the speed performance, I almost forgot that I use SSD inside my PS5.
I personnally prefer to transfer all PS5 games into the SSD because I see more performance on loading times etc. And I used to be playing in that way.
I just tried installing this into a PS5 I just got running software 22.02-06.02.00.04-00.00.00.0.1 and it advised I could it use the drive inserted into the M.2 slot. Looks like I need to find something else
You probably need to update the firmware on it. Read some other reviews where people got older productions that needed a firmware update and others who got new ones that didn't need an update.
@@DjKamiKaze09 but without a device or way to do it Samsung makes this impossible. From what I read you can’t do it via a usb dock, I only have a Mac device and no windows. Retailers also don’t seem to offer this option for purchasers so unfortunately Samsung has made this process impractical and therefore something that shouldn’t be recommended
@@iNexxFear wouldn't you just need to buy a SSD External enclosure and just plug into your Mac via USB.
@@DjKamiKaze09 I read and people advised the updater won’t see the m.2 in an enclosure correctly and that the utility is not available for a Mac…. Unless there is something else I had 2 huge barriers that make this impossible for home users.
@@iNexxFear I don't see why it wouldn't, doesn't seem right. I just watched a bunch of videos on people updating it. Don't see how an enclosure would not make it read right.

Yea I'm putting one in tonight, got a ps5 a week ago tonight, and my internal is already full, looking forward to having 2t, but at the same time think it's sad that they only give you like 600 gigs usable storage, and that it's so expensive to get a decent sized ssd😑

Yeah tell me about it, unfortunately I already had mine, paid 240/250 don't really remember, plus recently bought 2 controllers for 75 a piece, they were on sale for 50, and the 3d pulse headset for 100 that was on sale for 70, so yeah I could have saved 130/ 140 bucks if I waited😥 thanks for reminding me😭🙃

Seems the hardest thing is taking the faceplate off.
Sonys big first party games are like 90 to 100gb now.
Dont know why we need to install 15 different language options for voices for those games, it takes up such a huge amount.
You can actually go in and delete any non needed languages and certain games have add ons or packs you may not ever use you can uninstall

@@dante19890 yep any unused languages you can delete hit options on the game and it should be under manage data or add ons on the game

The issue is there are some games like Horizon forbidden west that have a lot of languages installed that cant be removed resulting in over 100gb of storage.
So it cant run ps5 games off it?
It's more than just load times, while the load times do remain mainly unchanged (a second or two max) where this SSD shines is the increase in clarity, sharpness and what damn near seemed increase detail. I noticed a pretty big difference in the visuals in Demon Souls after I upgraded to this SSD.
