2004 Hyundai Sonata SEL I have been driving Hyundai Sonata Limited's since 2009 and loved them. I just purchased a 2024 Sonata SEL (without the convenience package). I love the look and feel. It took a little getting used to with the gear paddle shifter and placement of some of the controls. It takes a while to learn all the programming options. The one issue I have is that you cannot see/read the cluster gauge between the speedometer and Tachometer in daylight. The cluster gauge has the odometer, daily and accumulated trip information, tire pressure warnings, and a bunch of other warnings of if cruise control is engaged. You can read the cluster gauge when it is very overcast and at night. I have contacted the dealer and Hyundai America and was told there is nothing they can, or will, do. If you buy the Convenience package for an additional $3000, you get a different display that doesn't have the problem. I would like to know if anyone else has this model and has the same experience. If you are planning on buying the 2024 Sonata SEL, you should test drive the models with and without a convenience package when it is bright outside.
I have the same model/trim as you and I can perfectly read the instrument cluster at any time of the day. However there is one thing I dislike: instrument cluster and media screen are always changing the brightness in accordance to exterior lights and it bothers me. And it is not ajustable.
Just got this over the weekend in the red with black interior; really pleased with my decision. Couldn't agree more with your review that for a base model and all the options that it includes, it's a no brainer. At this point in my life, I don't care anymore for sunroofs, bigger wheels, etc. which cost additional thousands. Value is the name of the game in my book and Hyundai has nailed that down completely. Plus, love the fact that it appears way fancier both inside and out than what you pay for.
I already got the same trim with Portofino Gray as exterior color and I'm fascinated with all standard features this MARVELOUS car has. Hyundai did a great job on this car.
By chance is the road noise on the vehicle distracting? I am big on road noise and would want to make sure that the noise is indeed minimum and quiet. Also, would this vehicle be just fine to accelerate onto the highway without any lack of speed to do so? I am seeking to join the Hyundai family and would please appreciate your input with helping decide if this would be a good fit for myself and family. Thank you!
I did not find it distracting and as you read from the owners they feel the same way. Best idea would be to ask a dealer for longer test drive so you can decide for yourself. I think you will be pleased with this vehicle.
Are you able to change the design on the screen where it shows the MPG? I am not a big fan of how it looks in the video now. i know i am very picky lol
On the website it's mentioned that base sel model comes with 4.2 inch instrument cluster. But you have got dual 12.3 inch display. Can you please help for the same?
Thats what i read as well but as you've seen in this video both are didgital screens. On the N Line there are more customizations available. On the website it says you need convenience package to get 12.3 inch instrument cluster.
It is coming. They are launching is slightly later than the gas models. The limited trim is actually hybrid only now. They already released pricing for hybrid which is between 30-38K.
I’m so damn confused why the base trim has paddle shifters lol. I’d rather them sacrifice that feature for rear vents. Sadly only the limited will have rear air vents. It’s like they want buyers to move up to a crossover and kill the sedans smh. Worst part is the previous SEL Convenience and Nline came with standard rear air vents…
@@MattTheCarguy You should not connect it to anything you own and don’t connect any of your own personal accounts to it, they could be tracked (unless you bought it for that purpose).

Good point! BTW the one in this video is without convenience package! Thanks for watching!

Thats awesome! Congratulations!
Totally agreed with you. I already got SEL trim almost 5 months ago and I'm very pleased with it.
I just bought the 2024 SEL model ..Portofino gray yesterday. I love it..
Congratulations!

@@MattTheCarguy Thanks. Have a great one! ❇️
Thanks!!!! @@MattTheCarguy
How are the speakers?
@@DrunkWaffle for me are great. They are not Bose sound but they sound great and I have the basic trim. I can not ask for more.
Really well done video, my friend! I've got the infomation I need and you avoid getting into too many details. Thumbs up fot this one, it's pro job.
Thank you so much!
I actually like the 17” wheels on this base SEL more than the 18” on the SEL Convenience. But, I’d do N-Line!
N-line would be my choice as well.

I had the pre refresh model and it’s extremely quiet compared to many of its competitors my brothers Camry was a lot louder in comparison
I currently drive the nline and even tho the exhaust is a little louder it’s still quite quiet

@@terelll6990 Thank you a ton for your input on this matter, it really means a lot!
@@MattTheCarguy Oh I understand, thanks a lot for the insight and recommendation. I will surely request that from the dealership. Thank you!

Not on this trim but you can change it on Limited and Calligraphy.
I like your review!
Thank you!!
Congratulations!
Still nice looking. N-Line all the way 👍🏼👍🏼
Also never really been a fan of the headlights on the bumper but it looks better with refresh.
Agreed!
Yeah, but for base model its loaded .

@@meetodedara6194 yes, this one did not have convenience package. it is a different 12.3 inch screen than you'll find on the N-line.
Does it have ventilated seats?
Not on the base trim
No hybrid models? I think nowadays thats a big selling point
It is coming. They are launching is slightly later than the gas models. The limited trim is actually hybrid only now. They already released pricing for hybrid which is between 30-38K.
There are 2 hybrids coming soon with base SEL starting about 1800 more than ICE and top of the line Limited at 37,200 here in USA

The rear vents should be standard on this size vehicle imo.
There will be rear vents on the Sel Hybrid, but I'm not sure when they will be available.
Thats what I am trying to get at the moment.
@@sakeenahosman2824 good info. thank you!
Not related but I also have a Galaxy A42 5G. Its my backup phone.

Still no rear ac vents. I rather have rear air vents than that digital display.
I was surprised it did not have it. Definitely big enough vehicle to benefit from them.
I could easily just purchase some fans for the back if needed. That digital display is extremely good for the price of the car in my opinion.
A lot of car for the money.
Definitely! Most features in the base trim.
The Morris code emblem on the steering wheel, is one cheesy idea. Hyundai tries to stir away from their identity it seems.
I think they make up with putting "Hs" everywhere else
I mean the logo is pretty hideous tbh
