Good for you. I have had a few lads who are fighting in various local MMA promotions ask me for some boxing advice and when I ask them why they dont put more time into boxing they always say "it is too complicated". Whatever the case, nice fellas but the lot is awful in boxing fundamentals. No footwork, pivot, or head movement along with awkward flailing punches
I just got into boxing at the age of 36. It's always been on my bucket list to get into at least 1 amateur fight. Been training my tail off. Enjoy your channel brother. It's helping me a lot!
I have a random wire on the roof of my house (terrace type roof, the wire is head level, and then it slants to the ground for some reason) and I practice on it in the morning when the sun is light or in the evening so I also get some vit D. Sometimes I attach a boxing glove or tie my skipping rope handles around the line and punch the glove/rope handle as I roll so that the whole line moves unpredictably helping sharpen my reflexes. It so much fun to practice on it (although exhausting and a little bit annoying when the moving wire smacks you in the jaw), and the downwards slant really helps to go as low as possible when defending to get that Tyson style rolling and slipping movement. It's such a well-put video man, helped me fix some of the leg crossing mistakes I make just from watching. You're really one of the best coaches out there, def got the best accent. Love from Pakistan.
I installed a chord in my attic with a boxing bag. I have to say now I really understand why I was all over the place when doing combos .Finishing with a punch on the side of the chord really makes sense. Thank you brother for your advice!
As a gold medalist from another sport, I’ve found your channel absolutely invaluable. The head movement is different than tending the goal in the Lacrosse though, I must say! 🙌🏻
Apart from your great achievements as a professional, you are an incredible teacher and an inspiration. Thanks a lot and respect from Spain. Keep on going master.
Could you do a video on "what you can train on a 'Bob' training dummy? I know it's not ideal but it's all I got right now. You have the best boxing training videos imho.
I just bought one a couple of weeks ago. Right now, I use mine for accuracy. I go half speed to make sure the technique is correct. Doesn't sound like much, but with that dummy, i'm more aware of stance and footwork.
One should not underestimate these instructional boxing videos for other boxing martial arts such as Sanda or Muay Thai. As a practitioner of Chinese and Thai boxing I try to improve my boxing for guards, foot work, rolling and punching and Tonys videos are great. I personally know the benefit of learning from other martial arts when I combined Chinese kickboxing with Muay Thai. So keep up the brilliant work Tony, it is also for us kick boxers!
just the other day I was wondering how to improve my head movement, thanks God for your youtube channel. you are truly gifted trainer keep it up respect!!👊👊
Thanks for all you do tony, I love the slip line. im a competitive amateur Boxer in southern California USA. And I use the slip line often in my training, one of my favorite ways to use it is to cross the slip line with another line like an x, and I get all over the place on and off the rope , this way that way etc... I keep my head , hands, and feet moving, and I get creative as I shadow box and move around the ropes. It's one of my favorite exercises. Thanks for an awesome video like always and God bless
Thank you so much Tony. No amount of praise can convey our gratitude. You are a true hero in the eyes of a serious fighter. Wish you and your loved ones health, safety and positivity.
You never fail to make a quality video Tony. Just when I think there’s no more topic to make a video on you bring another out. Is there any chance of a video or two on home workouts/guided shadow boxing focusing on defence/offence, footwork etc. That’s be awesome. Thanks again Tony
Your videos are AWESOME! I love these step by step explanations, the way you explain is very clear and motivating, the content makes perfect sense. After each video I want to jump into the gym!
When rolling under the line don't bend your neck, bend your knees and step right or left. Depending on which direction you step, determines what your last punch should be in order to stay balanced. -Tony Jeffries
