Skin suit. Silence of the lambs comes to mind....haha Taxidermists use glycerin to preserve reptile skins. I've never tried it on fish. Soak it for one day and then wash with dish soap. It helps retain the natural color as well as flexibility. Great video ! Beautiful lure ! Thanks
Nate, use a 50/50 mix of denatured alcohol and glycerine, paint it on the skins everyday for 2-3 days and let it air dry in your garage with good airflow over it for a couple of days, will remain flexible and shiny. Also, I think that was a puff ball shroom.
I just started watching around the time you commented, ive made it through 10-15 so far and i love it. Guys crazy in the best ways. That subscriber interaction was really cool too
You not editing out the rubberband misake is what makes you special. Real. And the Japanese anglers figure 8 lik we do for musky. Seen one dude blister em like that. And its official to boot.
You should make a large mouth bass that’s like 10-15 inches long and weighs as much as a bass that size would weigh, I’m not sure if you oils do that cause you probably have plans for videos but I would love to see it!
It's awesome when you are reeling in fish the sound of line reeling is interpreted as (Applause) by the captions. Which isn't wrong cause that's what all us fishermen are doing internally when we have a fish on. Bait looks great BTW!
Great vid. Check out tanning fish skins using an egg. I tan some of the skins of salmon that I catch. You can use the tanned skins to make wallets, boots, whatever. I started looking into using the tanned skins to make fishing baits since I'm now making my own. Been following your channel for a while but the timing was especially perfect on this one.
I’m glad you are going to be keeping fish for their skins. I fish for food although it is great fun! I live near Galveston Island. It takes about a half hour to get to the island for me and we have the usual catfish , bluegill, bass of most kinds, smaller bait fish that I can’t remember the names of right now, gasper gou, buffalo, perch and others. Saltwater fish are more diverse and you don’t go saltwater fishing. I have begged you to make a saltwater fish called a “croaker” for years and I finally gave up on it. It’s a pretty fish and they are tasty in the frying pan too! But I digress. What I really mean to say is that I am glad you are going fishing for a reason instead of just entertainment. I’m hoping you will find a good recipe for fish and show it to us. Maybe you could let your wife have a spot for cooking after you get done fishing. It would keep your videos from being too short. I love watching you create your lures and I love watching you fish because you catch so much fish. I want to be able to do that. So I am trying to learn how to retrieve lures from you. Thank you for not being only about the sponsor. Thank you for teaching me how to catch fish.😊
I’d love to see another attempt at this. I felt you learned a lot and the second one will be even better than the first! I like the idea of using the fins, maybe next time you seal the fins with resin before attaching it so they don’t rehydrate. Or attach them before clear coat so it’s sealed to the bait. Just an idea!
I’ve seen the home gym in videos and I can see progress as your fishing. Would be cool to see a work out related lure a dumbbell or 45lb”!! Jig head from a mold . Your the pro you got it this 💪🏾
You come up with some wild ideas. Action on that wakebait is money. Let's go! You even made it official. Thank you for sharing these vids with us. Figure 8's work. No muskies in Cali, but caught a brown trout on a squarebill just messing around like that after seeing it in a vid the night before. Random thought just seeing the catfish thumbnail. You could use broom bristles to make barbels and use dyed uv resin to build up the base and make it stiff where it needs to be and it wouldn't push a bunch of water in unwanted areas(hopefully).
I've not tried fish skins but I use snake skins for handmade 1911 grips. I scrap the skin like you do and then some them in a 50/50 mix of alcohol and glycerin from the pharmacy for at least a month. Then I stretche and dry the skin. It keeps it from rotting and keeps it pliable. My EDC 1911 has had snake skin grips for at least 8 years. Still no issues with them. Oh and I use barge contact cement to glue them down.
Back in the 1950s, Naturalure Bait Co. of Pasadena, CA made plastic lures with cowgut fins. I have one of these and the fins are stiff and curled when dry, but become pliable when wet.
You should totally do a food chain catch, clean, cook, and bait. Catch a minnow/small fish by fly fishing, use it to make a small bait to hopefully catch a bluegill or crappie, to then use the gill or crappie as a bait for bass or catfish, and then the bass as a bait for pike
That turned out great! I remember my grandfather had an old frog skin bait. How about a burbot lure with a snake like action? Then blow more mushrooms up😂
do the painting on the gils first and then the skin? also paint the body with the same color as the skin before glueing it on? then you can easilly blend it after the clear coat. Love the idea! you can also try with other fish species and fish leather.
Every dads dream, his little baby girl, asking to blow stuff up. Amazing and adorable.
I would give this vid a thumbs up for that alone
It must have been weird for the other bluegill in the pond. “Did you see Jim is back? But …hes not the same…”
"They cloned him"
Catch to clean to build to catch 😂
Catch to clean to build to catch to clean to cook
Catch, Clean, Make, Catch. CCMC
@@PimpTheCowcatch to clean to build to catch to clean and build and catch
In the river on a boat!
Cook clean caught
Words cannot describe how HYPED I am for the second attempt at a texidermy fish lure!!! Maybe a trout?
That's exactly what I was thinking he should try next. Preferably Brook trout.
Skin suit. Silence of the lambs comes to mind....haha

“Can we blow up mushrooms?” 🤣😭😭
7:44 I had no clue what she was talking about lol. This is the most wholesome thing I have ever seen. You are a great man.
Crazy. Haven’t watched a video in a couple years. Remember when u first had the kid haha. Congrats man. Time to binge watch ur videos😂
I just started watching around the time you commented, ive made it through 10-15 so far and i love it. Guys crazy in the best ways. That subscriber interaction was really cool too
It is a good day. Thank you for the upload. Hope the family is doing well.
Woohoo! Another Marling Baits video. Looking forward to it! Maybe you can do a nuclear or diesel submarine fishing lure next!
Yeah that would be pretty Cool! 😎
Diesel powered swimbait
Me when i see any Marling baits upload : HWONNDAYYYYYYYYY
You not editing out the rubberband misake is what makes you special. Real. And the Japanese anglers figure 8 lik we do for musky. Seen one dude blister em like that. And its official to boot.
It's official, I like Marling Baits videos.
Day one of asking for a Ling Cod lure.
It's really cool looking fish with awesome patterns and colors!
You should make a large mouth bass that’s like 10-15 inches long and weighs as much as a bass that size would weigh, I’m not sure if you oils do that cause you probably have plans for videos but I would love to see it!
Dude this video RIPS! 10/10 concept, execution, entertainment value. 🏆
Awesome! Bait fishing has taught me that bluegill lose their colors postmortem but yellow perch seem to retain their vibrance better.
Catch, clean, COOK, build, and CATCH! EPIC!
It's awesome when you are reeling in fish the sound of line reeling is interpreted as (Applause) by the captions. Which isn't wrong cause that's what all us fishermen are doing internally when we have a fish on. Bait looks great BTW!
Best bait maker on RUclips
By far 🙌
Awe your daughter makes me miss when my kids were little 😢. It goes by too fast. You are awesome bro! This is by far my favorite YT channel. 🙌

Skin-On-Bait deserves an A+ IMHO! 🙂👍

my god man! a whole new set of baits for you to make! looking forward to it.
Day two suggesting this, i still think it'd be funny to see you make a jointed banana crank bait!
just by the thumbnail i know this is going to look great!
Always a good day when you post a video
Hey Marlin Baits been enjoying your videos while I’ve been recovering from a torn tricep injury I have. They have been really entertaining to watch
Love the fan interaction
I really think you're onto something with the skin idea. I would love to see you pursue this more. Maybe make a series?
Oh I need 100x more of these. This is such an epic idea.

Next video idea!! Taxidermy fish for a lure!!!🐟
All love all your videos but THIS WAS SO COOL! Keep pushing the label! You’re a legend
Finally, someone who doesnt need to switch hands to cast and reel. Remember kids if you reel with your right you cast woth your left 👍
I cast with right and reel with left on bait casters
Nice man, great vid. loved FNM near the end. That was awesome!!!
Can't wait for the full size 2lb bass swimbait
Try some Townsend fish skinners! Look em up
This is actually so cool
New vid makes for a good day. And tomorrow I’m getting a bandsaw!
Definitely want to see more of this, and also with different kinds of fishs skins crappie and whatnot would be cool
I believe the inspiration is clearly Makolures. He uses fish skins and snake skins. A true master luremaker!
Perfect gemaakt je bent een topper thanks voor the video
I’d like to see a bait series that utilize real fish skin, thanks for the great content

Kolejny piękny wobler zrobiłeś. Fajne macie te Bassy . Brania widowiskowe.
Można też zbierać łuski ryb i je potem mielić, wychodzi masa perłowa.
This was really cool to watch!
Awesome video. I can't wait for the next catch 2 clean 2 catch video.

Novel idea. Looks awesome!

What a interesting build!
Nice awesome official lure!!
