      What Dyson sphere has going for it are the beautiful space battles, sunrises on planets, that kinda thing.
      On the surface, the automation side is good, but if you really try to optimise things you uncover inconsistencies, which, while they aren't a big deal, do chip away at the enjoyment.
      Also, Dyson sphere program only works on windows, while Factorio works on Mac and Linux too.

      Easiest way is to get rid of ratios, it's just not so important you just have more factories. You decrease complexity to 1 2, 3 item input factory rows. If you want to be partially effective you prepare 2 and 3 item with "just in time" item - such as green circuits where you never put copper wire to belt. It's literally 5 types of factory you prepare in blueprint (+ 2 types of chemical plants and 2 types of smelting row - steel and other and + one type of factory with pipe), you make them expandable (i am lazy i do not, just use row of 16). And you fill these rows by hand or by robots all the exact way, fill input belts from bus and return result as new line of bus...build, repeat, scale... 4 item factory is just 2 item, just use half of belt for each.

    • @engin3ar
      @engin3ar  3 месяца назад +2

      @@johnsean100 This is a complicated comment but I think I understand what you mean. I know that advanced players are mindful and specific about their ratios, but I basically just winged it the whole time. I try to leave room between production and refining areas so I can increase capacity at one end or the other. If it looks like I'm short on something, I'll just expand that thing until it doesn't look like there's an imbalance (as opposed to looking up online how many automators I need making green chips for the red chip factory to have them working perfectly at 100% capacity with no excess).

    Also the unholy amount of mods (playtime wise), a few being really well polished and probably the top mod (Space Exploration) being notable because its creator, Earendel, is now in the Factorio dev team working on the game expansion (Space Age) but also still working on his mod. There's going to be a big update to SE probably also this year.

    Another thing worth noting is that Factorio has THE BEST native mod support out of any game EVER. There's a mod manager built right into the game, installation is seamless, and the developers have made sure that all capabilities of the engine are exposed to the official modding API. There are total conversion mods that add entire new tech trees and recipes that transform the way the game is played.
