- Full on Double Tillage-ALL THE WAY, Special Thanks to John Deere and Wildman Farms for giving us the opportunity to demo a 2660VT and 2680H the vertical tillage tool and high speed disk. It was an excellent opportunity to compare the two units side by side. We go to see how well the 8RX 410 pulled the large tillage equipment.

Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

I cant WAIT...to run these machines in 20 years.
Exactly
I can’t wait to play his FS19 map when it drops
In 20 years all that electronic bullshit will be worthless and non functional.
@@Boomhauer333 It will all be run by a quantum computer then. Farmer will be in his office, waiting for the maintenance alarm to go off.
Cheers
In 20 years will be in the junkyard because you ain't you can't afford to fix the electronics
You have to be John Deere's number one salesman you are very articulate and well watched
Yep, John Deere's marketing department thought so too.
@Doc Savage massey is good buy a fendt instead of Deere.
That's one thing I like about farmers, one of many things. You guys all seem to be on the same team, trying to grow food trying to keep the crops from going under and trying to work together to make the best product you can. Other fields like Construction I can tell you for a fact , I can't get five people who were in my trade agree on the time of day, let alone work with each other for any great length of time, LOL !
Good observation ! And very true ! I had two wonderful neighbors bring there combines and trucks to help me beat the rain when harvest got way late last fall. My crop would have been ruined without there help.
Lots of big egos in the trades Management likes to divide. No wonder lots of cheaper labor has taken over in the past 30 years.
Everyo
16" on center and keep the handle warm.
Be safe and God Bless
So true! Describing it as all farmers seeming to be on the same team is perfect. I started hobby farming and am blown away by the support I receive from other farmers.
Highlight of my day when Millennial farmer uploads
Millennial farmer and Walker farms need to do more collaborations
You're a GOOD Man Mr Johnson!
FULL ON DOUBLE RAINBOW ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE SKY! Your channel has saved me during quarantine. Cheers from Sydney.
I like how you share your equipment perks with the neighbors. It's great to see what they think as well as see their farms . Here in michigan we have planted all but 150 acres of wet areas. This spring we have planted 5200 acres between our land and custom work. Now it's hay season and cattle working and spraying time . Nice video stay safe and farm on my friends !
It is probably part of the deal with John Deere to give the machine as much demo exposure as possible. It sounds like a great deal for everyone involved. And we get to watch great videos of it.
An American Framer and John Deere two things that you just can't beat. 👍👨🌾🗽
New Deere equipment and technology is amazing. Nothing else out there like it. Thanks for helping us learn Zach.
Awesome demo 👍 Thanks to John Deere for working with you and thank you for all of the great videos 👍🍺
JD should be proud of your reviews. They are lucky to have a guy like you that uses the equipment for what its designed for and give opinions on it. Great video again.
I would call that new tractor Seymour, as you both commented you can see more country on it while looking for the happy ending button! I remember when a umbrella and fender radio was high tech and the reason my right ear rings. Thanks to John Deere for letting you show off there new line, you both did a great job.
Im new to the farming perspective. I have spent my whole life in Illinois and have like tractors and combines since i can remember. We don’t have a family farm sadly, but as I am now learning from your videos and getting to see how awesome your job is I really wish we still did. My great grandpa farmed up until the 70s or 80s raising crops cows pigs and chickens. Really wish we would’ve kept at least some part of his operation going. He is in his early 80’s now and still kickin. He originally had well over 2000-3000 acres of land (not all arable) back then, but over the years has sold it off and is down to 600 acres with most being woodland and the rest contracted to one of the big farm families in our area. Love your videos and im watching every one of them now. Love your operation and that deere is giving you the opportunity to show us whats new and helping you unilaterally. Keep up the content and keep bleeding green baby. #godeere
You should get you a small tractor and some.cows and equipment to make hay and start a.small farm
If Sam is an indication of all the John Deere's reps in that dealer, I would be deere fan for life. Really good guy it seems
He's a fun dude!
He has to be awesome, he made a Ninja Turtles reference lol
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the green VT vs the Mandako you've been using all spring. Which works better in your read?
What would a farmer from a hundred years ago think about this type of equipment.... amazing progress. Not even the great Mr. Bloomberg could manage it.
Thanks for the video about the pipe laying with Randy knowing about how you drain the field to have a better field to have a better corn or bean crop. All this is a lot different way in the field. I like seeing what you do everyday on the farm.
Absolutely fantastic video explaining tillage , and the reason for various requirements and options needed,... for all viewers , particularly in-experienced and non-farming people ,...great work Zac and thanks to John Deere too......awesome industry involvement from a major Agri company , we had similar experiences from John Deere Australia years ago with helping with product development .......well done to your family including your Dad !!! ...cheers from Aussie-land :)
The 8RT gets to get a little sleep. Your most used machine gets to have a little rest. Good on it. While it gets to sleep a little you get this sweet new 8RX. Real cool watching this tractor! They are making a mod for it and other 2020 Deere machines for FS19! Can’t wait for em. Your map from mappers paradise I’m waiting for the most. Gonna be a good one
Farming has changed so much from what i was brought up on. Thank you for the video. Take care be safe.
John Deere is knocking it out of the park with some very nice equipment. I can't wait to see what they bring to the table next!
I think everyone watching the video felt that chatter lol
Who says farmers don't know how to have a good time? You guys are machinery geeks for sure, ain't no better way to be. God Bless.
Farming is moving into the future. Better equipment, better crops, more veggies, everyone wins! Great video on this.
And corn prices are still the same since 2000. We dont win
Since we the people helped provide this 8RX!! We demand a "hay ride"👍😂😂 All of us!!🚜🇺🇲💯😎 *Also id like too see it as a grain cart tractor!*
Great video. It was like a day out with the boys playing with fancy toys. Tillage Sam seems like a good guy to know.
I absolute love the demo equipment you get to use! I love the videos and learning so much! Tootles...
I agree those lakes are beautifull we really have nothing like that in Australia because of our floods and droughts.
Always a good video when you and sam hang out
Nothing better to watch after cataract surgery then a couple of mean tractors tearing up some soil. Great video even watching with one eye today.
I'm a John Deere tractor owner and recent subscriber. For +25 years, my daily commute to work passes by a Case IH dealership. Thanks to your videos, now as I pass by I'm constantly saying to myself "What the heck is that?!?!"
Awesome to see what John Deer as done with the new tractors and having tracks instead of tires. Nice to watch the different video's thanks for sharing!
Great comparison video for those curious of the differences on the tillage tools. We have some of those red "tractors" in my area too....
Keep it going little brother! Proud of you and your Lady!
A GREAT video, men. Listening to the professional banter between two different farmers was a real educational thrill. Thanks for that!
It is a good job you have such large fields in your part of the USA that are relatively flat so that you are able to "exercise" such large equipment or indeed move it about easily from field! Here in the UK average arable field size is probably little more than 25 acres and nowadays hedge or tree removal is effectively banned for ecology reasons and any equipment wider than 8.5 ft needs special arrangements to made for each and every move on public roads.
Thanks Zach and thanks to John Deere for letting us see this equipment
High speed tilling has to be one of the most satisfying jobs as a farmer.
That is a Valley Center Pivot Irrigation system, I grind the welds on the control boxes for those! Very cool to see one in a video!
So glad this channels rollin again one of my favorites
Zach, just throw some wheel weights on the tracks, should do the trick 😂
Great video Zach! I like to see new and improved equipment. They have came a long way from the basic harrow and turn plow that we growled up using. Thanks again for sharing Zach!👍
i wonder if anyone remembers John Deere back in the 1940's/ Oop's, yes I'm that old;) My grandpa had a beast of a John Deere for pulling power. The two cylinder engine was amazingly powerful for its day. The exhaust gave it a signature throaty sound. pop, pop, pop, pop, POP, pop, pop. pop, POP etc. I always heard John Deere tractor's called Popping Johnny's because of that unique sound. But Oh it could be a beast to start. On the left side of the engine was a large, heavy cast iron flywheel that was 24"-28" diameter as I recall. To start the engine you had to rotate that flywheel by hand until the piston came to the top of the compression stroke. Then brace your legs on the ground and pull hard across the top of the flywheel in a counter clockwise rotation. You had to do this again and again because it was not easy to get started. It would wear a man out just trying to start it. But once the engine was running with its popping sound, and you pushed the clutch stick forward. You were rewarded with some right satisfying pulling power. Those were great days for a kid growing up on a farm. Thanks Zach and family for rekindling fond memories from long ago.
I think it's so awsome how you farmers work together. Really a massager in the tractor lol.
I'm happy your happy but I don't feel like I did much other than like and watch. I'm thankful your thankful too. This is by far my favorite channel. Best delivery and content or teaching ever!!!!!!!!
With the kind of hospitality Midwest Machinery is giving you and if I lived in your area ( I live in SW Va ) I’d make them my JD Dealer just to support you!
Your welcome Zach ! I drink Budweiser this winter swing through Indiana and pay up !
i think you are a great ambassador for john deere zach they should give you the tractor great at wht you keep it up you and the family stay safe
7:27 love how you let that camera roll and capture the vibration!
You guys all need a raise!!
Thanks for the free entertainment in these boring times! 👍
I love the comparison of the tractors and implements but I think what’s most important to take away from this video is in Minnesota there are a lot of lakes
Well it’s not called the “land of 10,000 lakes” for nothing
@@ryanjohnson1265
11,842 lakes according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources
Thanks Zach.
I'm NOT a farmer. Why do I watch your videos? They're INTERESTING! Loved this video. (You might Shake Your Head, but I also watch Cole the Cornstar). Keep up the good work! Thanks, from NE Alabama. (We're all about cattle and hogs).
I don’t have a farm but damnmmmm, do I want an 8RX.
Good stuff. Thanks for posting. I remember tee shirts back a few years ago used to have a phrase on it "Its not the size of your Deere but the size of your Johnson." Keep it clean. Always hope with water and soap.
When Sam's in the thumbnail you know its gonna be a great video
🤔 Did anyone else notice that Jake got on his knees, dug in the dirt with his hands and got them dirty, the millennial farmer just kicked a little dirt around with his foot! Have a good year, enjoy the time with your family because it can all change in a heartbeat. 👨🏻🦳
it is really interesting to hear you two guys talking in the tractor. Figuring things out on the go and also comparing machines! thanks for letting us in on it!
I just got to listen to you in the drinking bro pod cast while I was seeding canola up here in Saskatchewan... it was awsome
Say hi to Jan for us! Happy seeding!
Nice to see the difference in sizes of tractors, thanks to John Deere.
U and your family r wonderful I never miss a video you r the only one I follow that close
Wow that was great using 2 type of tractors and disc's. Good video this city slicker learned a lot ...... thanks
I can’t get over how nice that 8RX looks.
Wow Kool! We never pulled any disc with our 4020 JD at 10.0 MPH! In the 1970’s. We would have had to be in 6th or 7th gear! Thinks have changed! Nice vid guys.
Nice video Zach! We farm in Australia and we are 2/3 finished planting and the rain is coming in nicely :)
Every time I watch your vids I wish I was back working on the old farm I was a hand on
Love the "happy ending" comment. Seriously, cool video. Very interesting to see farmers learn the new tech and how it will help their farm.
In central AZ right now the 'first' planting of corn is now from five to six feet tall !
When is your next podcast???? after i learned that most podcasts were free i have been listening to it at work. you guys are hilarious at times with the "Off the Husk" podcast
Check out the description, should be at the bottom of it. He has a link that let's you choose and use whatever platform you use like Google play or iTunes etc. Also Generally all podcasts are free man there is very few that actually cost money and if they do you're just paying for the platform you're using like hule or Netflix type subscription.
We try to upload one every 2 weeks on Monday or Tuesday. We had to skip a week but there's another one coming in a few days
Zack I’m telling ya I would love to have the chance to come out that way and get you to show me how big farming works. The farm that I managed was just 100 acres and the largest tractor that we ran was the old Allis-Chalmaers 6060. Shoot when we would rake hay we used a CA Allis-Chalmers that is a 1957 model. I’ve went back and watched your videos sense I’ve lived down here in Florida and wished I was back in the Captain’s Chair of that old 6060 working ground. I’m a newer subscriber but thanks for the great videos pal.
Hi I am from south Africa and I love farming and your channel
I love that 8RX more with every vid. But the 9R was also a very nice Johnny. Compliments
The thumbnail you have for this video, the way you are standing, it reminds me Champions of Krynn, an old D&D PC game from 90. You look just like the characters when you view them when they are in combat. That stance is just like the way they stood. Hold a stick just like a two handed sword and you have that pixel look down.
Nice to see buddies having a laugh in these crazy times , fun video Zach , and Hi from Ireland :)
Thanks for another great video of doing what you do in planting time and a great review of a couple different machines doing about the same job.
Thank you Zach, one hell of a tractor.
Those are awesome conditions, no stones! Couldn’t do that upstate New York you would break something for sure doing 10 miles an hour.
Great video for the children.
And I have been watching since 2018
It’s cold there and it is 95 degrees we’re in at. I wish I was there
Me to
Your Buddy has a great attitude and if he ever decided to start a You Tube Channel I bet he would do great!
I’m suprised the door on the tractor doesn’t close automatically
Lol brother I’m sorry for your cold nights 90 degrees in SE Texas has been for awhile hang in there
There's talk about MPH. Can/do you monitor HP, track slip and gallons of fuel to compare the two tractors. I would strive to follow those curves before mph. Fuel efficiency has to be important. Great vlog, thanks!
You should do a series of videos (short and long depending on the subject) like the one you did previously about the grain bin set up with lots of detail, just going over stuff like the trueset and other technical details or whatever people want to know (one subject per video) and make a playlist for it. Then, anytime you mention it in a video, or when people who ask about that subject in the comments that havent heard it before in a previous video, or people who just find that stuff cool and wanna hear all about the finest details could be referred to that playlist of videos. I'd watch those in a heartbeat.
This was a darn good video, love the tractor. And buy the way good looking JD hat. Thanks Zack
Now that was a cool video. Enjoyed seeing the comparison of the two rigs.
Love seeing all the new JD tech!
I have a ram classic. Love it!
I sure do miss riding along on the tractor. Take care, God Bless!
Hi Zach, beautiful equipment with awesome results. Hard to believe there is a good return-on-investment, however, with such expensive equipment. High speed and large capacity probably enable a good rationale for purchase. I hope so for both farmer and manufacturer. In any case, a fun and informative video. - Dean from Edina
9R's with 800 duals look absolutely amazing🤤😍
It's no wonder you young fellas grow so much food.the fridge is awesome.nice sound system?
Bee Bop & Rock Steady... I like that guy!
Finally, some Deere boys using the buddy seat for what it's meant for. Back rubs and chilling out watching netflix while you ride together.
When you were talking about track vibration at speeds between 6-8 MPH the camera picked up the vibration. At the higher speeds no camera bounce. Do you have the 8RX 410 through harvest?
Yes he did
Totally didnt expect to see your camera ad, how neat!
Love the power wheels your son is making it better
"I cant find the happy ending button" LMFAO 😂😂😂
