I have no idea why, but I remember getting it mixed in my head trying to remember this sketch, and instead of Gabriel Iglesias, I thought it was Carlos Mencia. Don't know why I remembered it that way, but the irony of him telling others that it's not cool to take other peoples jokes wasn't lost on me
Maybe you mixed it up because Carlos Mencia was on South Park in the Fishsticks-episode where the plot was quite similar? Cartman stole the Fishstick-joke from a friend and Carlos Mencia stole it from Cartman...
Oh, I understand now. You don't realize that Peele is playing two different characters in this skit. So, while it may confuse some people - like you, for instance - it is something that occurs quite often in the sketch comedy world.

No he didn’t. How can he be a high school student and become president the same time? Troy receiving the award was still in high school. Some time travel probably going on 🤷🏽

Jakeson prcek Regardless we're constantly taught to not plagiarize, yet people still do. Why? Because we are selfish creatures that only seek our own self-preservation, whether it be to survive or to be socially accepted.
That's the problem i had on school for being shy, whenever i made a joke, the guy next to me repeat it loudly and get all fame/bitchies/money. Don't be shy, look for theather classes or something.
+Nerdialismo404 This never happens to the silent and dark types, we usually stay quiet, then say an awesome joke when the opportunity presents itself and we get all the credit because they know we said it.
A Joke is a creativity's product. So are ideas, solution sketches, research ideas, arts, ... And when it is a joint work, a collab project, this is even more subtle.
Marcus Rainey I was just pointing out the entire part of the joke and not just its punchline. But thanks for trying to be a prick and pointing that out.

Regardless we're constantly taught to not plagiarize, yet people still do.

Wow. You guys sure do get a lot at your school for a joke
This how we call "exaggerating to prove a point"
+Nerdialismo404 How does exaggerating/lying prove your point at all?
+Nerdialismo404 This never happens to the silent and dark types, we usually stay quiet, then say an awesome joke when the opportunity presents itself and we get all the credit because they know we said it.
Scott Mathews Not if you speak so low that only the joke stealer hears you.
"Have you ever found yourself in High Point, North Carolina and not feeling safe?"

A Joke is a creativity's product. So are ideas, solution sketches, research ideas, arts, ...
And when it is a joint work, a collab project, this is even more subtle.

This happened to me a few times in Highschool, once the cool kid said my joke louder and everyone laughed but he was nice enough to give me credit but as soon as he did everyone stopped laughing 🙃
