    Exactly the info I was looking for but I’ll stay around cos I loved your art! Sub #262 🤗🤗🤗 I have a $31 toaster oven I bought 2 years ago for polymer clay (which I never do anymore, was a passing phase)....but I also have a heat gun so wanted to see what was better to use for shrink plastic for bag tags 🤗🤗🤗 P.S. 4:14 “*flies away” not fly’s away 🤗

    Also do you think it would work better to maybe put a piece of parchment paper or some kind of non stick sheet on top to hold it in place & heat through it? I hope that makes sense.

    • @CarmenGarciaJMJ
      @CarmenGarciaJMJ  5 лет назад

      I've actually never tried that! But I assume with the heat tool, it will just blow away the paper lol. But it may work in the oven 🤔 Best thing is just be ready to flatten it once it comes out

    • @staceydavidson-gaither1933
      @staceydavidson-gaither1933 4 года назад +3

      I always use parchment paper to line the pan with. I refuse it over and over many times. Also, you can get heat guns that do not blow air, I would think that would work better, at least for beginners?

  • @Kazooples

    How long do you bake them in the oven? Im having a hard time with the wax paper that keeps on sticking to my pan and shrinky dinks

    • @sfred8821
      @sfred8821 3 года назад +1

      Don’t use wax paper, it’s not meant for oven use which is why it melts and sticks to your pans. Use parchment paper or aluminum foil instead :) And I found heating the oven at 340°F works fine! And it shrinks fast enough to watch it happen, so maybe around 3 minutes or so? It varies for people, but that’s usually the time for me :)

    • @Jo-bt3xr
      @Jo-bt3xr 3 года назад

      Just follow instructions on the shrink plastic package ; mine says 340 degrees F and 10 seconds!

    Hey hi, love the comparisons. May I just ask, have you had any issues with resining your pieces?
    If not any future videos on how to please?
    Many thanks

    • @CarmenGarciaJMJ
      @CarmenGarciaJMJ  4 года назад +3

      Thank you ☺️ The only problems I've had are 1) the resin doesn't always cover evenly on the pieces (keychain pins, whatever I'm making) so there will be spots that look like they have bo resin. That doesn't always happen though. 2) if the resin isn't mixed properly, it won't harden and stays sticky for ever 😓 so make sure you have the correct ratios. I usually use the I've resin brand in the plunger to avoid this, but their resin in the store looks so yellow and old. I did buy a new resin I've never used before, I'll try to make a video on it someday soon 🤗 hope this helps!

    How fast do I need to put the uv resin under a uv lamp? Thanks for the tips.

    • @TykitFleine
      @TykitFleine Год назад

      UV Resin doesn't cure until you put it under UV, so you have plenty of time to work with it :) but I personally wouldn't leave it alone too long just to avoid any dust or dirt falling into it

    Hi- Does the heat gun give off a weird smell? (Just trying to see if this amazing idea will work for my students in my craft club at school)

    • @CarmenGarciaJMJ
      @CarmenGarciaJMJ  Месяц назад

      Sometimes, just a slight smell or some smoke but I think it's because of the markers I sometimes use. If they're only using colored pencils there shouldn't be any issue. But it does get VERY hot so depending on the ages of your students, they would need help from an adult. Hope this helps!

    • @CarmenGarciaJMJ
      @CarmenGarciaJMJ  3 года назад +2

      I think #6 plastic is the same as shrink plastic. If you want to color on it with colored pencils, you'd need to use sandpaper to rough it out first. Some of it is thicker than name brand shrink plastic though, so I'd say test it in the oven to see if it will shrink at the same heat for the same amount of time

      @@CarmenGarciaJMJ I feel the exact same way. I either go to home depot or Walmart.com to purchase my craft needs. I almost always save money there. Example: I buy my Mason jars at Walmart online for super cheap. I get 12 for $7, plus its free shipping on orders that are $35 or more. They cost $1 each at craft stores. I tend to buy 5 cases at a time to get the free shipping.
